Used to cut grass and paint under the table for cash at a waste water treatment plant- we’d strap the lawnmowers or weedwackers up to a go cart and cut the grass at about 15-20 mph, and then find a hiding spot in the 55 miles of piping tunnels there were underground at the plant and take regular 3 hour naps. Best week was when we snuck the go cart piece by piece down into the tunnels, reassembled it, and painted the pipes without even having to stand up. Best job I ever had. Most sleep I’ve ever gotten in my life.

😂😂😂couple years ago I worked at a tree trimmer service company as a laborer and drove the truck, which was always packed with 6 workers, sometimes 7 and also ate a lot of protein. There were times when my farts were stinky, and my goodness they were brutal. I would fart in the truck and everyone would complain, raise their shirts to their face. They would blame the oldest guy on the crew for some reason which made it funnier.

I knew a guy once hated his landlord so much that when he finally moved he cut about four holes in random walls in the apartment. Bought a bunch of meat, put them in the holes and then plastered them up and painted it over. 😂 Not only is that dedication, but it’s playing the long game.

Well one thing- you make a milk chicken bomb - delayed gratification.. you put a raw chicken leg in a jar, with half full of milk. After a few days the process of rotting meat and milk create gas that eventually causes the jar to explode. Imagine the smell and mess that’s left. I found this in BIG BROTHER skateboard magazine owned by Larry Flynt in the late 90s 😂

As a plumber who does mostly new construction and renovations, the stories I've got from on the job could fill a book. Just the people you run into and meet on a daily basis, everybody is a character. It's one of the last gigs on earth where the people working it are actual individuals with personality and uniqueness still like how everybody used to be. I don't know people work in offices their whole life with boring people with no personalities and not kill themselves. I tried it for a brief period and I thought for a hot minute in my early 20's that I wanted to be an engineer, got my degree, landed an internship at this engineering firm where it was literally a bunch of nerds who've never used a power tool in their life but yet are designing houses sitting at a computer all day in their cubicles not talking to each other playing with AutoCAD. I lasted a month, quit, went to work for my uncle instead who is also a plumber and the rest is history.

One of the many jobs I had in high school was groundskeeper at a very large, historic cemetery. The old timers took- and kept all the "riding" jobs. So the stupid kids (including me) got to run Electric Trimmers - These were attached to long cords and then plugged into a diesel generator. Four kids go in four directions and start "week whacking" - but the trimmers have metal blades instead of nylon line. They "ting" and KICK if you hit a rock or stump. They're HEAVY and the drop-cords are nicked and dinged and chipped and cracked from years of kids like me abusing them. So... Every now and when, you'd get a JOLT from the dewy grass. We used to PRAY for someone to DIE so we could stop trimming for just a little while to bury them.

Ha! I worked at a cemetery one summer when I was in high school. The full timers were these crazy ex Vietnam vets and assorted alcoholics. During one of the burials they had me go into the hole because it was a double stacked burial (one on top of the of the other…remember those?). I was standing on the cement encasing of the bottom burial and using my shovel to remove rocks to make room for the cement encasing for the top coffin. The old timers were encouraging me to poke at the dirt wall knowing it would eventually strike into an adjacent burial area. Sure enough, my shovel broke through the other side and was poking at a casket that hadn’t been disturbed in 50 years or so. The old timer workers were above me cracking up….insane.

Same here. My dad forced me to learn plumbing and I did that for 4 years and payed off my college tuition, I made very decent money after 4 years but my body was a fucking wreck. The guys who stayed in the craft made more money than me but had to lift weights and be in super shape to keep on doing it.

Suit up, fuck me. I started working on the buildings when I was 16, and stayed on them while putting myself through college and working as a bar man till I was 23. My last building job I took as my normal seasonal gig ended early in 2018 was with a 70 year old master builder and we did a fine job finishing a nice ladies house. If anyone on the buildings around here heard a foreman say suit up we'd just laugh at him.

@@edwardjones2202 No, it's really not. And it's not like construction work doesn't pay, most guys out there are making well over 6 figures making great money and have a great life because of it. Boring? You think construction work is boring? What, you'd actually rather sit in an office staring at a computer all day pushing papers instead? That's boring where the most exciting thing in your day is lunch. The stories I could tell from my on the job adventures could fill a book. Like I said, pathetic. The most entitled, weak, and pampered generation of people that ever existed are alive right now. No wonder this country is falling behind everybody else. People like you.
