Good bless you sir. You saved me thousands of dollars and hours and hours of labor. I saw these videos, bought all the tools you used, and did it step by step just as you did. Only took a few hours. Never thought I could have done something like this. Awesome.

Excellent video with a good explanation of what needs to be done step by step. I’m about to tackle this on my parents 2007 van and a local repair shop, which my father frequents, quoted him $1,229!! We’ll buy OEM R&P bar for about $450-$500 and he’ll save about $700. Well worth the trouble for one day (I hope😬). Thank you for the great videos, Pt. 1 and 2.

Thank you so much for these two videos! Other videos and my manual just said disconnect the middle steering gear but to remove it was not explained or shown. Thank you for showing us!

Very helpful video. Thank you. After you secured the steering wheel straight, and then put marks on the old input shaft in part 1 of the video... I am not seeing that you took any steps to adjust the new rack drive left/right to match the position of the old rack when you pulled it from the steering input. There was no mention of using the old alignment paint marks as you recoupled the new rack to the steering shaft @ 1:26, so I'm somewhat confused as it looked random as you reconnected that joint. What is ensuring that the rack is at center when your steering wheel is at center?

these steering racks for these siennas 3.3 come already centered, I just know when a steering rack is centerd only by seen it, but still a mistake not having mentioned it, to center it turn it to one side completely then back to the other side completely counting the rounds then turn it back n stop at half of the rounds you got, that is centered thanks for sharing

Great answer! Thank you so much for this video - it is clear and has a great pace. I have done a lot of work on my Sienna including dropping the front frame and replacing the engine. Having a video like this helps people understand what they are about to take on, gives them confidence, and also helps them prepare for needed tools! Again, great work and the disassembly was done in a SMART and professional order!@@JM-AUTO

I don't see why you removed the bellows - the sway / torsion bar is not in the way - that is unnecessary. Putting the Hoses back in - now that is the challenge to thread properly.. this unit far easier than a 95 accord!

Hi JM: 1. Should I flush the PS fluid completely after replacing the R&P? 2. Should I replace all PS lines before installing the new R&P given that there is more access? Or, is it fairly easy to replace the lines later when the new R&P is in? 2. I saw that you provided all the torque specs in Part 1; however other than the outer tie rods, I did not see you torquing anything in this video. Did you simply not show that for video brevity? Or, given the low torque required for line fittings, and other small bolts, you have a good feel of how much torque to apply by eyeballing? I find that some of the bolts (e.g. sway bar bushing bolts) are so hard to access that fitting in a torque wrench would be so difficult) Thank you and God Bless you too.

hi, I like your questions, I torque every thing but saving time also n that is why I provide the t specs that way, some small bolts I just do them by feeling n yes flush the fluid, it is a new RNP(steering rack) so it is very important to get new fliud in it. if hoses are in good shape then I personally dont replace them but if they dont look that good even if they are not leaking I replace them. thanks for taking the time on the channel very appreciated and stay bless you and your Family as well.

My shaft is not lining up to the steering column! It's tough to push it down. Should try to force it or will that cause damage?
@JM-AUTO
@JM-AUTO 9 ай бұрын
thanks for sharing, if it is not line up you must not force it or you will damage it, if it is line up but having dificulty getting it in then try to find out why because this goes inside with no effort as you can see it in my video, may be you have to open the shaft a little bit more so the intermediateshaft can go inside smothly but you taking about not line up n that is different than having a hard time getting it in but it is line up.

Did you secure the steering wheel straight before starting the Job ? When you got the new rack did you make sure it was centered ? Some places send out racks that are already in a turn position. Your intermediate shaft might need a small turn to slide down and the shaft should slide up and down easily. The shaft should go all the way down as well so the bolt will line up with the lock slotting . The simplest thing is to remove that bolt completely and then slip the intermediate shaft on the Rack, then insert and tighten bolt.

I don’t know if you can help me I don’t know what year it is but my dad has a Toyota sienna that makes beeping noise when steering on a curve on the freeway looked at so many videos and so far they say it the rack and pinion but don’t know if that accurate or not
@JM-AUTO

it is one thing out of 3: the sliding door/s, rack and pinion or the ABS pump, hint: listen to the sound or peep if it sounds like the doors. hope this helps. hint: the steering rack can possibly do this only if the sienna is after 2006, also it can happens if you installed like a bluetooth or any other accessories.

This is easier than a Honda Accord - it takes about 4 hours and will save you lots of cash - I have been quoted 1300 to 2200 for replacement. I can tell you the 95 Accord - would be worth the $750 I was quoted for it. This thing nope maybe all in at $700 but anything more too much.
