We have no enzymes in our saliva (of which I am aware) to break down amino acids....but our saliva has plenty of Amylase (AMY1) for breaking down starch...also, glucose, not fat, is our preferred fuel for the brain. When you eat a little glucose, your body quickly comes out of ketosis....but when out of ketosis, your body does not readily re-enter a ketogenic state if you eat saturated fat. Why? Could this be evidence that we are historically geared to eat plants and starches? It seems pretty evident to me. Yeah, we need some fat and cholesterol - but you get SOME fat in most plant foods. Even bananas have fat. And your body automatically MAKES 3000mg per day in your liver. So do you really need to eat more? Not likely. Eat what you always knew was right. Fruits and vegetables.

Hi.I think you've made great points! I personally believe that the best way to find a balance of fats/sugars etc is to eat SEASONAL. for example, only eat avocados and nuts when they are naturally in season instead of 365 days a year, this will be nature's method of forcing you to eat the correct ratios of fat rather than just a hard rule of "low fat" or "high fat". what do you think?

Agree with John on EVERYTHING except for fruits. His 2- 3 fruits a day rule is NONSENSE. An 8 banana smoothie for breakfast with some orange squeezed in there, some apple and sometimes avocado has done wonders for my health. I eat a starch based diet with vegetables for lunch and dinner but a FRUIT based diet for breakfast and my bowls thank me everyday. And I get tons of energy from the fruit and it really is preferable to starches in the morning which takes a bit of your energy in order to digest. Fruits just go right through you! transit time in the colon is EVERYTHING. this is why some people who eat healthy still have issues, their food isn't digesting and is simply rotting in the colon (those people need to do fasting or go on fruit mono diets for a while depending how severe the problem is) the longest living people have fast transit times. if you eat meat you can still live long if the rest of your diet is clean (grains fruits veg) but your health won't be as good as it could have been. depends on your goals.

The reason that all these variations exist in diets is so that each "leader" can present his own twist on the "recipe" and thus present the public with a "new and revolutionary" diet that presumably "makes all the difference" in comparison to other diets, which are very similar.

I know nobody's going to believe me but all ancient civilizations thrived on vegan diets. Atlantis, Mu, ancient middle east, ancient middle asia: they were highly developed technologically and mentally and to some degree spiritually. They were all slim and productive on a vegan diet. I got my information from hypnotic regression sessions.... And one person even said during one particular session: "we don't know wars. There are stories of ancient past from when our civilization began to develop about great conflicts and wars. But we have long grown out of it and we have no need for it". It didn't fit their mentality. And they were all vegan back then. They just didn't name it that way. It was just their everyday normal diet.
@Christuserloeser7 жыл бұрын
you sir are bat shit crazy.
@maripogi76 жыл бұрын
+Christuserloeser You have never had a past-life regression. It is an awesome experience and you discover things that make a lot of what you have experienced in this life have significance you hadn't realized. Most of us have had more than a few lives. With a regression, there is time and energy for exploring only one, and just a bit; a lifetime is usually long and complex. If you have a good regression, you can learn so much. My own took me to a time when the place I was in, which looked like Europe, northern France, to me, was totally covered with forest! The Roman troops were there, but only in small amount. The person guiding this regression demanded to know what year it was, but I couldn't answer. I had not studied European History, didn't know when the forest had been, the Roman invasion, etc. She got quite testy when I wouldn't answer, but I couldn't. Since then, I've researched what I saw. It was probably around 200 A.D., and it may well have been near Bath, England, for they have caves, which is where my initial entry into the regression took me. I was about 10 years old, female, and my clothes were hand-sewn, simple, coarse fabric, flax maybe. The soldiers were locals, impressed into service by the Romans. They rode small horses, probably put under load too early to ever achieve their full stature. I and the other children and old people had been herded into a cave. It was total darkness, but I described the earth underfoot and the smell. The regresser wouldn't let me experience what happened there. Obviously, I survived it, but I was never able to have children. Instead, I took care of the children of the several families I lived among. The building we shared for that had a hearth where food was cooked in a cauldron and the roof was thatched. I lived to a very old age, maybe 80's, and there was a man I loved who came and went with a small caravan. It was a reason for celebration when they arrived. I recognized him as the "love-of-my-life" in this current life. His coloring was different, but I knew him by his eyes. He brought me gifts and stories of distant places. His caravan also used horses. Oh, the local "troops" had leather helmets that were made of straps; wouldn't have given much protection, just probably made them feel they "belonged" to the troop. The children and I picked mushrooms in the forest; there was deep grass. It was rolling hills but no mountains. This is why I changed from France to Bath, England, where there are caves and the "baths" are from the Romans. Learning when Europe was under forest gave me the year, about 200 AD. People have not changed much. We have all the same feelings and cares. We love and fear, just as today. We want comfort and safety. What hebince44 writes sounds so very true to me; he shows the amazement of a person who has experienced what is real but forgotten. It is as if a grandparent sat you down and told you of some incident in your early childhood that you had totally forgotten, but the details of which made some things, perhaps fears, a scar, or a recurring dream element, understandable to you for the first time. His gratitude and value of his regression is evident. Your scoffing shows you are afraid of the concept, that it somehow disturbs what you have chosen to believe.

I like this video. There is so much I agree with. Not finished watching it yet, but what came to my mind when repeatedly hearing the term hunter-gatherers and thinking about its meaning... not only the word hunter used first gives a false impression, that their diet was meat based; what is also very important to realize is, that the word hunter only refers to the fact that they did little or no animal farming. All meat they had came from wild, they had to hunt it. And we know today that the wild game is nutritionally superior to the farmed animal meat of any kind, also free of antibiotics and growth hormones, which the industry uses to make more profit.

He's more right than wrong, in my case. I've been trying to do a high fat paleo diet, and its not working out for me. Im having trouble running on fat, I have extreme fatigue everytime I have my high fat meals, and having two coconut oil spoonfuls makes me feel like I was hit by a truck :S I've been having weird pains in my chest and hands, I think my liver can't handle my attempts at high fat. I can't have wheat, but my Modified Paleo looks similar to the starch solution, only I eat some meat

Yes, I mainly eat fruit. from memory, I ate this yesterday - 10 bananas, 3 apples, 3 oranges, 6 clementines, a huge stir-fry (two plates worth) with many vegetables and chicken breast, 4 eggs and olive oil and some kernel nuts. maybe I had more, but I get enough energy because I am never tired when I workout and am slowly adding muscle. Does that diet sound OK? I want to try paleo and eat less fruit, but it's something i'll have to work on. i'm not sure i'll like paleo though.

Love the ending punch! Hahahahahah.... I have the same issue: my family and doctor for years were telling me that what I'm doing is wrong (raw whole plant diet), I will get even sicker (I had amenrrhoea, osteopenia, eczema, dental flourosis...). Those telling me that are all having health issues (unfortunately, but my sis changed few last months seeing benefits in me, and got healthy! yes!). My results, I got rid of all those problems! Extra bonus: looking younger ;) than my peers

Yeah, but too many people confuse what we are capable of eating with what actually causes us to be healthiest. We just love hearing good things about our bad habits.

No-till farming and crop rotation do not deplete topsoil. And unlike grass fed beef, these are economically viable solutions. Legumes are a crucial part of the equation as well. They pull nitrogen into the soil which is converted into nitrates by bacteria. It's never a good sign when someone makes a nebulous reference to "studies" without actually citing any.

Some Omegas like DHA are not presented in so called human food or plant food. I don't eat meat nor recommend that. My answer about R.Young's promoted 3-6 avocados per day is that avocados are a good source of healthy plant based fats and chlorophyll. I can eat 3-6 raw avocados daily easily and don't feel full or gaining mass. I am not sure about starches since I know that people in Eastern European countries in 18-19th centuries used to live on starches and used to be sick and used to die.

To make us healthier, can you open a fast food restaurant called Mcdoguall selling real starchy potatoes instead of Mcdonald's fries?

i've noticed 2 times you've falsely concluded that someone is saying something they aren't saying. your first qualm is about mr mcdougall supposedly saying that the societies he pointed out never ate meat, which he never said. it's actually the paleo diet people saying these cultures ONLY ate meat which he was debunking. 2ndly you seem to think i said you advocate the things i pointed out which if you read my post again i clearly didn't say you advocated i asked you a question.

see, i kind of disagree with that seasonal approach to eating. There are plenty of healthy foods that if you can afford them should be eaten regardless of the temprature outside. I still eat oranges when its cold outside, etc. However, if your other motivation is to reduce travel of global produce and ultimately try to live a more sustainable lifestyle, i totally agree there.

not all meat equates to saturated fat, what about seafood such as salmon and tuna?

Sigh... Not sure what is the best thing to follow. I thought Paleo people were crazy until I read the book and it's not as extreme as Dr. McDougall says. I have been on mostly veggie, low to non fat with a small portion of whole grain diet for a long time. I don't eat dairy and eat rarely eat any red meat. I have been in a fairly good healthy but could not lose weight for years. I work out, stay active, restrict calories, but none of them worked.
