At first I was like “no Bernard king, whattttt?” when you picked Melo, but your explanation absolutely makes sense. I’d consider actually putting King at the 4 instead of Reed depending on who the opponent was. Not sure if he was ever a 4, though. King was powerful, kind of like Dominique Wilkins, so he was a bit of a 3.5 rather than a pure 3. Anyhow, amazing video as always!

I'd pick Bernard over Carmelo in the starting 5 anytime, and I dont like the top 50/ top 75 players of all time, it misses on so many good players from previous eras... And statistics past 2010s dont mean nothin to me, there is no defense anymore...

I think this is probably the best "Dark Horse" Team of all time. A lot of talent but I don't consider it an absolute Juggernaut. Considering the Bulls; Lakers; Heat; Celtics; Spurs and Warriors, I think the Knicks can be the one that can give the surprise in terms of talent.

This is a nice exercise, but my favorite team of all time is the late 60s early 70s championship team. Although I am from Louisiana/Arkansas, this Knicks team stole my hear. They were unbelieveably tough, yet smart and clutch. Loved the combination of Frazier/Monroe, Reed, DeBusschere/Bradley and their coach, Red Holzman, was definitely one of the best and fit this team to a "T?"Good Lord, I almost forgot they had an aging, but still incredible Jerry Lucas coming off the bench. He had been plagued with bad knees, but he was always a spark of the bench. What an incredible team to watch and root for.

Willis was a center in college and struggled at PF in the NBA. He did not take off to MVP level until they traded Bellamy, got DeB, for PF, and moved Willis to C. Carmelo was an absolute disaster on the defensive end of the floor; and fans of WINNING Knicks teams demanded defense first. Also can't see A'mare on this squad. I assume it's just recency bias that excluded Guerin and Barnett. There also needs to be a spot on this squad for Oakley ...

Awesome video, Jonny! I've heard of each of the players you mentioned, but am more familiar with the ones from the 90s and 00s. I think Houston would thrive today also and he was a great player (sad though how injuries hampered his career). Ewing was awesome and it would be fun to see him and Anthony starting together. They would be so tough to stop. I agree that it is not easy seeing Stoudemire as a rotation player but I def see the case for this, given how stacked their frontcourt is. I heard of, and learned a little bit about, Frazier, Richardson, McAdoo, Monroe and others, but did not know much about them. It was great getting to learn more. I learn from each of your videos and appreciate how you cover so much of NBA history on your channel. Happy Friday! Have a great day and weekend, Jonny! 😊

Outstanding choices! The only minor change would be Anthony Mason instead of Amare because of his greater versatility on both ends (having guarded MJ and Hakeem) as well as his ball-handling skills on a team with more than enough players able to play center or PF.

And now for the final team with more of a defensive build more than an offensive build which I think will flaw them come playoff time, the New York Knickerbockers. I give credit. Jonny tried his best to make this roster with some offensively skilled players. Starting Earl Monroe and Melo was smart, Michael Ray Richardson is an underrated talent that was sadly wasted due to, you guessed it, drugs, and I wasn't expecting Bob McAdoo, but him still be a superstar in his Knicks tenure is a great option this team needs. Unfortunately, they can only do so much. A lot of these players aren't known as the greatest playoff performers outside of Frazier, Reed and DeBusschere, all being in a era where the Knicks actually won shit. Not sure they win a playoff series, but a top 4 seed? Maybe. But that's about it. The biggest victory for this franchise will really be when James Dolan grows his heart 3 sizes and sells the team to someone who doesn't care more about their crappy house band than their team. But hey, those are just my thoughts. See you for...the Lakers...oh God, help us all...

This is a much better roster than I had anticipated. I'd say they are somewhere in the 6-8 range in the east. I still say that the Celtics are the 1 seed followed by the Bulls. I still have the 76ers, Bucks, and Heat are 3-5. I'd now put the Knicks here at 6 with the Magic and Cavs fighting for 7-8. I'm bumping the Hawks out of the playoffs in favor of this Knicks team now that I've seen the roster. If they had a great year and got on a roll, this Knicks team could be as high as the 3 seed in their best year. Ewing is the GOAT Knick, but Stoudemire and Reed are both underrated bigs and Frazier is wa do it all point guard. King VS Melo for a starting position is a bitch of a decisioen in a good way but I agree with Melo because of the outside game and because I trust his health more.

@Rsoto91858 ай бұрын
Saying this as someone whose been a die hard Knicks fan for over 30 years... seeing the list of honorable mentions is depressing because it shows you two things... the Knicks have always had talent but never the absolute top talent and that's why while i think this team will be formidable, they'll ultimately just end up being a tough out for whoever ultimately makes it into the later rounds. They'll beat and bruise you up but ultimately end up disappointing you in the long run. When the Knicks had King and Frazier, the Bucks had Big O and Kareem. When the Knicks had Ewing and Marc Jackson, the Bulls had Jordan and Pippen. When the Knicks had Melo and Amare, the Heat had Wade and Lebron... and this generation of good Knicks is more of the same... It is what it is... it seems as if we'll forever be relegated to being a second tier type of team
@markjackson64318 ай бұрын

@Boss3Nate8 ай бұрын
Just imagine how different Ewing's career would've been if he had just one teammate that was the caliber of any of these guys you named when in their prime... I say now that if they changed teams in the 90's like they did nowadays then Ewing and Reggie Miller would've teamed up... Reggie going to New York and teaming up with Ewing.... that squad against Jordan and the Bulls. Oh man. Neither one of those legends really played with another "star"..
@adrenalineunlimited8 ай бұрын
I don't mean to be disrespectful to all these legends, but this team is barbecue chicken. The pieces don't fit together and they won't be able to match up as a team against almost any of the other teams in this series. Their best attributes are in one on one situations, but even their best players lose too many matchups across the league, or at least have their production matched. Given 30 all time teams and 82 games, I believe The Knicks would have a sub-500 record.

Stoudamire & Mcadoo gotta go for me. no slight to Bob, or to any one of them; but Stat had basically one healthy year, and wasn't the same ever after... I'm. Putting Tyson Chandler at the backup Center, and Oakley at the backup 4...Oak did all the dirty work, and literally deserves to be on any Knicks list. Tyson won a DPOY & with him and Oak, no one is getting any rebounds, and are getting bodied for even coming down there. Last rotation spot should go to either LJ or Porzingis. I know didn't spend a long time there, but if your have Mcadoo, then KP has better fit, with ball handling skill, further range, and can protect the rim. LJ wasn't the same like Charlotte, but he was still a dependable option scoring, and as he lost his athleticism, became very effective & crafy on the block, and became a more consistent threat from the arc, especially if he's got a hot hand What I wish Jonny Arnett would do is add the coaches to these videos .. Especially to manage a lot of the egos on these lists other than those debatable ones, and being a Knicks fan my whole Life, this is actually spot on! List 🗽🏀🍎
