I’m starting a mood blanket (same idea but different colors for different moods) later this week! I’m starting it on my 18th birthday and hopefully starting a new one on my 19th! I think it will be a really cool way to track things like stress and excitement through milestones like college applications/decisions/acceptances, senior prom, graduation, college orientation, etc! I’m so excited about it

I started my first temperature blanket on December 1, 2020. I wanted to capture three months for each season - Winter (Dec/Jan/Feb), Spring (Mar/Apr/May), Summer (Jun/Jul/Aug), and Fall (Sep/Oct/Nov). I also wanted to choose colors that represent each season according to the temperatures. After much consideration, I ended up with Winter (ice blue, dark blue, deep purple), Spring (fern green, lilac, cotton candy pink), Summer (aqua, fire red, deep ember red), and Fall (mocha, burnt orange, mustard). My coldest temperature is set at -30C. and my warmest temperature at +25C. Increments are by four degrees. Each month will be separated with a row of black, so I can see at a quick glance what different parts of the year looked like. The problem with where I live is that Mar/Nov, Apr/Oct and May/Sep have similar temperatures. Needless to say, it's going to be an interesting piece of work by the time I'm done. So far, in December, I have only one row of 'winter' when the temperature was -16C. I also have one row of 'spring' (yes, in December!) when the temperature reached +9C (just seven days later). The rest of December is a combination of Spring and Fall colors. My blanket is first on my mind when I wake up each morning. I can't wait to check the temperature from the day before to see what color I'll be using. The row takes no time at all to add, but that's ok... I have other projects to keep me busy :) Thanks for sharing your video. I'm now a subscriber!

Thank you for the explanation of calculating the size. I'm going to start on one for next year, my very first one. Not going to do a rainbow however because it doesn't fit with my room theme so I will do 2 beige, 2 greens and 2 browns as my palette for a moss/earthy/cottagecore kinda vibe. Just 6 colours because I use Celsius but I like having some randomness so I think I will do the maximum and minimum temperature of that day. If my blanket will be too long then I will just finish it halfway the year and start a new one so I have a set of 2!

You know this made me think of a mood/habit tracker blanket. Different blues for water habits. Different white to black for depression/anxiety tracking or like white for yes i did (habit) black for no i didn't do (habit) negative or positive habit etc. I like mood tracking in a bullet journal but it's not very engaging or fun It's like boring logging for me. This could be more fun, crochet a granny square a day for a month or two, and a row a day for a year.

ive never crocheted but I bought some yarn and I already have a hook so im very excited 😃😃 i have lots of experience with knitting and sewing so hopefully it will go well 🥰 i live in the south of england and ive chosen 5 colours that suit my personality: (in celsius) 30 or more: rusty red 24 to 29: mustard yellow 17 to 23: cream/ warm white 12 to 16: dark green 6 to 11: light muted green 5 or below: mocha beige (im using the highest temperature of each day hence why the lowest is 5 or below) original comment was in early feb 2021 im pretty sure EDIT 6 JUNE 2021: im still going strong with my blanket and it looks so cool, ive left year 11 now so I have 3 months to catch up as i haven't been consistent since before exams, ive just finished up march 🥴 but I love love love how this is going and I'm determined to finish it on new years eve :))

Great tips my concern though is the size. It seem awfully big. I want to make a throw size blanket so I will be adjusting that. Also I agree the primary colors of the rainbow are pretty hard to do so that it matches or coordinates with one's home. I intend to do it on the green blue colors teals etc and maybe a few tans.

I've been thinking about starting a temperature blanket this year as well. I love the colour pallet that you have picked out! At the moment I’m trying to decide on the colours that I want to use. Maybe I’ll go with autumnal colours (burnt oranges, mustards and dark greens)? I also haven’t gotten the hand of crochet so I’m going to try and find a nice knitting pattern to use (: Hopefully I won’t get bored of it and stop halfway through 😂 Wishing you the best of luck on your blanket!

Thank you! But I suggest finding, using, and recommending a different resource for charting past temperatures; this website is incorrect by 6-10 degrees, consistently. e.g. It was 107 degrees (F) when I got married as well as when we brought our son home from the hospital and this website doesn't reflect those high temperatures for the given zip codes. I want to compare to the government's weather data, but their website is currently down for maintenance (conveniently lol).

I am happy you used math, but I must point out that it was an overly complicated amount of math specifically here: You created and solved a proportion - but you did this to find out how many inches is in 7 feet. You got the correct answer of 84 inches, but you could have just multiplied 7x12 to get that answer.

I'm going to sound really stupid but school was a while ago... How did you sold the equation? Multiply, divided? Bc from the diagram your just swapping the bottom for the top numbers and putting the 2nd one in the first spot after switching the top and bottom numbers... Math was never my thing and I had trouble in school.. *EDIT* *OK* I figured it out there IS NO algebra, because you decided on 7' and 12x7=84 I think next time you might need to explain it a little more for 2 year olds like me. 😕 I feel even stupider now because it was so simple. 😣
