EastWood rust encapsulator performs very well. Used it on a 89 K5 Blazer. Still rust free. There’s a half dollar size spot of green rust encapsulator on my parents driveway. It’s still there hasn’t worn away after 15 years. It’s been beaten down by heat of asphalt, rain , ice and snow and still there. This in it self tells you something about the product’s performance.

That bed liner stuff is pretty good. I seen a guy that had an International 9400 I that had a Cummins ISX 15 Liter engine. The from cover was leaking oil pretty bad. He washed it off, used grease remover then sprayed the bed liner all around where it was leaking oil, and presto it stopped the oil leak. He later replaced the front cover because it holds the gear drive for the cam shafts. You don't want those to get out of time.

@JustMoparJoe2 ай бұрын
@@taoisttiger4702 oh man. I would definitely say prep is key. If you could have scuffed the diamond plate or etched it with a chemical. KBS coatings sells an etch for bare metals to promote adhesion
@raffikkizАй бұрын
FYI for you or anyone that sees this; Aluminum diamond plates often have a plastic film coating or some kind of sealant. You can use muriatic acid to remove it. it'll also look really shiny. but neutralize the acid and seal it immediately. Aluminum still oxidizes. But it doesn't turn red like iron and steel do.

It looks like the rust converter kept the metal from rusting around the pellet marks. The rust encapsulator is ment to be top coated I believe.

@JustMoparJoe11 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video. Blasting definitely has its advantages and drawbacks. It’s not practical for most simple shop owners and diy people (which make up the bulk of hotrodders). A high volume air compressor, adequate space, proper ventilation, protective equipment, etc. Here’s a product that gets similar results with much less effort and expensive. I actually like to encapsulate areas and then sand and epoxy prime later. I agree it’s best to remove all rust, but sometimes it’s just not possible with everyone’s ability’s or budget.

So when I had spoken to you about how bad my pickup bed was, think that tool box from 2 years ago. Ive been tossing around a few ideas of what to do with it for years now but I think you just sold me finally on doing that encapsulator. I dont suppose you have used any of the rustoleum bed coating 'in a rattle can' with it? I really like the reliability and texture of the rustoleum but the prep on it has to be perfect bare metal in order to bond well. Any rust and its botched. Ive had it on a railing that is used daily for 6 years with zero flaking or fade.

I do not recommend raptor liner. I did my whole jeep in it only had a few rusty spots that I grinded down primed and raptored it literally dissolved my whole jeep in a few years held in moisture and salt 😭. Completely ruined my jeep. The liner itself lasted a few years but literally made everything under my jeep rust out when it wasn't even bad to begin with. Don't do what I did it looked sweet but killed my ride 😢. I literally covered my whole ride and everything I raptor lined rusted 😡
@JustMoparJoe4 ай бұрын
@@brianbarranco7986 sorry to hear that happened. I did the blue truck 3 years back and it’s holding up great. I definitely could see that the raptor is a moisture barrier after installed, but base coat and clear coat would do the same thing if the surface under it wasn’t prepped and sealed properly. Primer is porous for sure. The rust encapsulator is much better at repelling water than primer is. I’m not sure what chemicals it has, but it’s supposed to stop the rust. I’ve used it for a sealer several times now with good luck.

@JustMoparJoe Жыл бұрын
I like to paint it regardless of it being exposed or not. But unlike the POR15, it doesn’t explicitly say it has to be painted. My favorite application of it is to use it as a rust neutralizer on areas. I have primed, painted, and even put body filler over areas where it is applied.
