So as a Porsche owner, it's a little mixed bag for me. Props for doing the work and getting it dialed in properly, massive respect for that. My only thing for me is the sound. I know 300hp isn't mind blowing by todays standards but the car lost some soul compared to a header back exhaust flat 6. That's kind of one of the big points for owning a P car so for me I wouldn't do the swap but I can see why someone would. I'm also someone who doesn't really like the 718 series that are 4 cylinder turbo models, it's got to be a flat 6 in a P sports car personally. But yeah if someone found a roller and did that swap, that's awesome.

Agree 100%. And ya, 355 hp (it’s actually higher, but Porsche always underrates their cars) isn’t a ton by todays standards, that being said, there are still 0-60 times in under 4 seconds, which isn’t exactly slow, and That’s actually the “weakness” of the car, from There the braking, handling, feel and track experience are MUCH better. You aren’t going to find a stock S2K come close to sub 4 sec 0-60 and your not going to find the Gen 1 NSX stock in that range either. I’ve owned a ton of Hondas/acuras but I wouldn’t do this (at the same time, I’d never drive an older boxster/Caymen and would much rather have an S2K with an S2K motor. Even tho the car isn’t crazy quick and even has electric steering, they are a blast to drive. I still have a hard time seeing all the BRZ hype when the s2k is a far superior car and it’s much older.

I have a 996 4S widebody that just had the engine rebuilt 5000km ago, cost a fair chuck but to the previous owner not me. Nice to know options like this exist.

this does not feel sacrilegious at all... this feels like saving the whole car... amazing.

a GT3 without a flat six is like a gun without bullets, you might as well just ditch the whole car

@@mro9466 So in other words you came to this video just to complain about an impressively skillful build for the sake of being a pompous purist?

Dope still has that era Porsche type sound with the k24 it's remain nimble with it unlike a v8 and the has the reliability unlike a boxer motor
@kmack57992 жыл бұрын
Brilliant! If that’s not two fingers up to Porsches engineering team I don’t know what is. A modified 4 cylinder Honda Civic motor which is more powerful than a 3.8 Porsche engine (and more reliable) is fantastic. Credit to you for building it…

I thought I would hate this but it is so cool - I love that all the gauges work. So funny to see a Porsche tach hovering at 1500rpm when cold just like every Honda does!

One of the best engine swaps I have seen! 🤩🤩👍🏻

This is so awesome 👍👍 I wish he’d share the build info so this could be replicated, probably quite a few 996’s that could use this when engine is on end of life. Given the shared motors on older boxsters it may work there as well
@bmwrepaircrew88482 жыл бұрын
Correction, he did say he’s working on the kit, great to hear 👍👍

this dude playing REAL LIFE FORZA! Honda LEGENDARY ENGINES! with Porsche legendary status, 911, tuning, chasis etc! Imagine a Porshe + Honda engine! SHEESH

Be interesting to know the weight difference between K and the original flat 6. I imagine the K is lighter?

I'm normally not a fan of these swaps however this is one that makes sense and improves the car.

I wonder if you could sell the factory engine, and do this swap and be money ahead?

he actually did that, he explain it in one of his vidéo

I need this in my life because of the price of engines I've always steered clear of Porsche, but if I can get a kit so I can do this myself id be all for it.
@78Outlaw2 жыл бұрын
3.8 could Rev to 8000rpm, and will always sound way better than a K24, a supercharger kit would have been better but hey variety of life 🤷♂️ cool vid as ever and can’t knock the install, super professional
@andrepower62 жыл бұрын
Honda engines can also rev very high and clearly it doesn't sound bad at all.

Pretty damn cool & for sure an extreme example of "k-swap the world." Good work, Nick & thanks for bringing it to us Mr. Chen

Please hurry up and make the kit! The bump in horse power alone is compelling. The big bonus are the low cost and the ease to service. Those with bore scoring or detonated engine from a failed IMS, this is a much better option than a $25K+ rebuild.
