K30 HYDROBOOST REPLACEMENT | Back on YouTube!!

Well... it’s been a couple of years! Glad to be back making videos. I’ve picked up a couple of new projects over the past two years. One of which is this 1984 Chevrolet K30 1 ton can a chassis truck. The hydroboost on this truck was leaking power steering fluid. I learned a long time ago that power steering fluid is flammable if you get it hot enough. So in this video, I show you how to replace the hydroboost on these old Chevy square bodies.

What a great video !! Very detailed and great explaining all the steps in detail. My husband has a '73 Chevy C30 and sometimes the brake petal starts slowly going to the floor. He isn't sure if the brakes need bled out or what it is.

70s ford pickups use atf as ps fluid. My 82 crew cab square body has it in its system. No problems at all just don’t mix the two. I just saw the one ton and clicked. Nice pickup!

According to the Haynes Manual, my 1985 Jeep CJ7 calls for Dexron II ATF (now called Dexron VI) in the power steering system, and not traditional Power Steering Fluid. Might want to check your manual for the K30.

I’m looking for a hydro boost for my 87 gmc c7000 they don’t have the one I need anywhere where did you find yours I’m thinking about getting a new style hydro boost and maybe have to change to a different master cylinder but I’m willing to do anything to get get my truck going

Thanks for this video, very helpful in replacing my hydroboost unit. I noticed around 9:30 when you were swapping the rod from the old unit to the new, you didn't move the old "centering disc" over also. Did you swap this and just not show it or can it be ran without the disc? Thanks!

The nut under the steering column is a royal pain. I used some mechanics terminology a lot.

I have this 1979 k20 I just buy it and the power steering pump is no good it's got a small 350 I took the power steering pump out took it to my local parts store than they give the wrong pump and whe I came back to tell them I got the wrong pump and than they tell me my core/pump it's gone now I got nothing to go by. I believe someone did a conversion to hydroboost my question can I still use the stock pump it's got one presser line and a return line that goes to a T and than back to the hydroboost .please HELP
