The kapha weight loss diet should focus on lighter foods. The kapha diet plan should focus on eating the bitter, pungent and astringent tastes.
This ayurvedic food list encourages recipes with dark leafy greens, vegetable soups, toasted granola, fresh fruit and seeds to aid in kapha weight loss. The kapha body type will aid in smooth digestion from healthy, lighter foods.

The 6 tastes
According to ayurveda there are 6 tastes that all play an essential role in your overall health. The 6 tastes in ayurveda are sweet, sour, salt, bitter, pungent and astringent. The kapha weight loss diet food list focuses on the bitter, pungent and astringent tastes in order to balance kapha dosha.
Kapha dosha pacifying tastes
Bitter
Absorbs excess moisture, relieves congestion, in addition to being a digestive tonic to clear the GI tract (riding kapha's sluggishness!)
Pungent
Stimulates digestive fire and is also very drying (bringing more heat to sluggish, cold kapha!). Cleanses the blood, clears the sense (kapha mucus), thins the blood and clots, reduces cholesterol.
Astringent
Loosens mucus and cough. Creates lightness in the body (to lift kapha off the couch!)
Kapha weight-loss diet should focus on consuming lighter, drier foods to balance kapha natural heavy, moist qualities. Choose fruit or toasted muesli in the morning. Stick with a dark leafy green salad for lunch, and try a vegetable soup for dinner.

So happy I found your channel. Just found out I'm Kapha. I was just introduced to this principle by a friend but it's so strange because even before, I've been feeling like I need to give up almost these exact foods. No reason, almost like an instinct. I love when the universe just clicks!! But I'm sad about the walnuts :(

pungent taste does wonders for kapha, and it does them immediately. I was spending whole days sitting in front of pc during lock down, eating all this heavy sweet salty food (it was ok for me before lockdown because I used to have much more physical activity) and kapha increased so much that even after small meal I had no energy to do anything and wanted to lie on couch. Today I add some (actually alot of) pungent chilly ketchup to my food, immediately lazyness is gone

This is so great to hear!! Kapha does great with the pungent taste, thank you for sharing! One of my favorite Kapha-morning-kick-start is ginger syrup (I have a video on it somewhere) but it is great to take a tbsp in the am and before/after meals to spark ones agni. :) So glad you shared this.

I totally feel you!! These guidelines aren't suppose to be hard and fast rules, more fluid. Learning how to play with the tastes and balance them for optimal digestion for you! :) For example, avocado is considered "sweet" taste and not ideal for kapha, however if you were to add jalapeño, cilantro and a dash of cayenne to the avocado it would make it more optimal for you to digest as a kapha because of the pungent spices (jalapeño and cayenne) and bitter green (cilantro). I am loving all your videos! Thank you so much. I am wondering if you or any other viewers could help me with a question? According to Banyan Botanicals I am mostly Kapha and Vata, with a small amount of pitta. Should I focus on foods for “pitta imbalance” or should I focus on consuming foods that are strictly in line with the Kapha dosha since it is my main constitution? I am roughly 50% Kapha, 40% vata and 10% pitta. I would greatly appreciate your help 🙏💖💫

I don't know how this works, but...as a kid and through my twenties I was definitely Vata. But I have been Kapha...and imbalanced for a while now. This is confusing. I watched your video on Vata-Kapha Diet. Is that what I should do?

Shakera Holness That’s totally ok! Ayurveda Can sometimes seem overwhelming but when you take one small thing at a time, it becomes more of a lifestyle. For kapha foods, you do t need to eliminate them all from your diet, just eat them in smaller amounts :)

@@winnydsouza6594 Barley tends to be better for Kapha doshas, and not so much vata. If you are dealing with vata imbalance, I would not suggest eating barley. If you are healthy and no imbalance, barley may be ok in moderation

is being a kapha dosha body type something you were born with ? i recall stages of my life where i was a lot more active, had good instincts in regard to foods that worked well for me, had a stable healthy weight etc and from what i recall a lot more energy and motivation.. but right now i definitely identify as a kapha and am experiencing all the negative attributes of being that type. so im kind of curious if i can reverse myself out of it and even potentially take on more mixed qualitys and have a balance of all three doshas even ?

I guess we are born with a dominant dosha...however our dosha alters as we age and it is heavily influenced by our lifestyle and dietary choices.

Tridosha is a state where we are perfectly balanced with equal amounts of all the three doshas...so yes we can be bits of everything....only if we are dedicated.

MiagXr grapes have a high water content, so if you’re dealing with a kapha imbalance then they wouldn’t be the best. Moderation can be ok if you’re in balance :)

That tends to happen! Especially when we're out of balance, we tend to crave things that actually will perpetuate the discomfort. Emotions and subconscious levels play a big role too. Awareness and daily practice are key. :) None of us are perfect though!

Why is everyone just talking about weight and kapha. There are other kapha issues like loss of appetite, mucus production.

Subodh I totally understand. I’m asked about kapha and weight a lot which is why i specify it in this video. However you are correct in noting that there are many other kapha imbalance symptoms. :)

Marisa C.L. Canola is a light oil, making it more variable for kapha dosha. However, you don’t need to use that and can replace it with sunflower, soy or safflower oil. Of course, you can use other oils too, but know that they have heavier qualities and are best used in moderation :) Above everything, listen to your body.

Being kapha doesn't mean being fat. It's more about the energies we carry. Kapha for example, naturally carries more earth and water energy, which can also show in the personality, mind, soul, etc. :)

@@vivektodmal1 You're right, everyone holds all three doshas. But your prakruti will never change as it is ones unique constitution, which would be an individuals ideal state of 'balance'. Imbalances, or vikruti, do swing constantly based on many things which is always a constant flow :)
