It's so refreshing because it feels like a lot of KZbinrs do sell out, move to LA, and buy fancy homes and cars. I learned a few things! We are getting ready to be full-time vanners (summer 2023). It really helps me set goals on what we should strive for because you’ve travel so much and so you definitely know what you need and don’t need. 1) Roll vs. fold - it depends on the clothes! 2) Having things for the what-ifs - just buy it when you need it. 3) You both literally have only 2 shoes. 😩 4) Puffy jacket and rain jacket combo is enough to keep you warm 5) I’m going to have to let go of the clothes that wrinkle easily. (linen!) 6) a black sarong is so multi functional

Flight attendant here! I do a combo fold & roll (I’m with Kara, some things take up more space rolled), I absolutely cannot stand packing cubes, and I only ever do carry-on bags (but that is because I fly stand-by travel, meaning I only get on a plane if there are open seats, so my destination might change on the fly-no pun intended). I also always have a dedicated pair of plane travel pants (which feel like leggings but look like dress pants) and ALWAYS travel with a sweater for when the plane or airport gets chilly. I also carry a “travel purse” and “travel backpack” that are small enough to fit in my rolling suitcase and I use when doing day-to-day travel at my destination; these bags are great because they help to deter being pickpocketed and help prevent purse snatchers: there is a feature where the zippers clip onto a tab where the bag closes (which prevents people easily getting into and unzipping the bag) and the straps are lined with metal so they can’t be cut with a knife easily. I highly recommend them and I got them at Target!

I loved learning more about what you pack for clothes! I recently travelled for three weeks with just a carry on bag and I felt like I could have packed better! Thanks for sharing!

Finally got to see what you carry! Such a fun upload. Looking forward to seeing more content from you. My wife and I enjoy them very much especially during pandemic lockdown in PRC. By the way, we use inflatable neck pillows for long flights. They are even more supportive than regular soft ones, so that we won't "nod heads everywhere" during flight snooze. And yet they pack into "a thin piece of paper".

We’re on a countdown to going around the world for a year and our packing list match yours almost exactly. Good to know we’re on the right track. Great video!

Loved this! I learned not everything has to be rolled, diva cup, and microfiber face towels instead of make-up wipes. I'm so happy to see you guys out and about can't wait to travel too.

I loved watching this video especially when Nate was teasing Kara 😂 I learned several new tricks to make my packing even more efficient. I’m a checked suitcase/carry-on backpack person, my folding is somewhere in the middle between rolling and folding, and I’m a loofa person for shaving my legs. I think I answered all of Kara’s questions.

I love how real this is and how much chemistry you have together in such a simple but great video! Kara definitely packs the right way with folding and rolling!

Glad you guys did this. I love how down to earth you are as a couple. Especially with this glimpse in the life of REAL travelers. So glad 8t didn't feel like an Apple commercial or another "influencer" pedaling a bunch of brands. You inspire me to travel more, keep up the good work!

This was so freaking helpful! I really enjoyed this video! I'm such a over-packer so I really appreciate Kara's advice on if you can buy it out of the country, then do it. I'm a packing cube, lufa loving, roller bag kind of travler.

Thank you for bringing us all into your very personal lives! Your packing chops aside, which are stellar, I am so impressed how you two live so beautifully in the present. You have no apartment or house back home in the USA waiting for you to return. You two don't seem to be mailing home stuff to someday go on a shelf in a living room. You closed your storage unit, and, aside from your van, your "home base" is where ever you two are! So, opening up your suitcases - your "home base" on wheels - and backpacks! was quite the anthropological examination into your lives. Thank you for this episode! We love you guys!!!

This is now in my Top 5 Kara + Nate Videos! It was fun to see a different side of your personalities and how you interact with each other, adorable. As well as the deep dive into what you pack. I would never have imagined you have SO MUCH UNDERWEAR between the 2 of you. And , Kara, it's time to update the REI toiletry bag. Treat yo self :)

Finally, a packing video that I can assume will be helpful before even starting it. And the editing is already cracking me up right out the gate! (no airport pun intended. ok, maybe a little 😜)

I like the advice Kara gave to not pack ‘what if’s’. I always worry about forgetting something. I’m a loofah type of girl too. Packing a sweatshirt is the most important, being cold on a flight is the worst.

This video was wonderful and so helpful. I found it helpful when Kara said you roll or fold things depending on what they are and not to pack “what if’s”. This also really gave me a better picture of what your lives are like. Thank You!!

When my wife was still with me, people would constantly comment on how we, after 17 years together, still managed to be best friends and called each other pet names and genuinely enjoyed each others' company. You two are mega-cute as a couple. This is the main reason I love watching your videos (well, that and Kara's legs, but forget I mentioned that)! This video is a perfect example of that, especially 04:49. I died. Luckily, I wasn't taking a drink of my coffee or, surely, it would have ended up in my needing a new keyboard and a cleaning of the 65". I discovered the two of you from your RAGBRAI video (which I'll finally be attending in '23 for their 50th!!!) about traveling using a tandem bicycle. I think I've now watched 10-15 of your videos and love every one of them. I'm about to take off on an unending around-the-world bicycle tour (unsupported, 100% pedal power) and watching your videos I've come to incorporate some of your travel tips into my plan, including getting ready to switch over to a Google-fi phone, which I hadn't even considered until I saw your mini-ad in one of your videos. Thanks for being out there, you guys are great. I hope you make it to RAGBRAI next year! Would love to get a signature on my gear somewhere! Stay safe! Stay mobile!

So glad you did this video! I'm always curious about how and what others pack. And it's especially helpful from two people that have traveled so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. One thing I'd love more detail on in a future video is your take on suitcases, i.e., sizes, configurations, pockets, hard vs. soft, how many have you gone through, etc.. :)

I just love watching y’all! My husband and I live like 2 hours from Nashville and we both grew up here so to see y’all travel the world is in inspiration, I wish we could do it but we also have two kids lol but our youngest will graduate high school in two years and we really want to get an RV then and start to travel that way , we want to start living in one now and start embracing that minimalistic lifestyle and watching y’all have made us really want to do it! So anyways keep up the great work and by the way I roll and fold cause like you said Kara it depends on the material lol

Y’all made travel “normal”. I travel every other week on international flights and have the problem of minimizing my packing list based on actual needs. I have some required items and clothes I must bring, but then the “after work hours” clothes are whatever I feel like packing. Your video helped me realize, fewer items is best and how to simplify my list. Those “what if” items are available everywhere I have traveled. Thanks for the video!

Love the videos - all of them! Your humour, editing, sense of adventure and interpersonal dynamic keeps me coming back over and over. Great stuff! I have a question about your backpacks - I also travel a lot (not 100 countries - but 67 - catching up ;)) - for work as well as personal travel - and I'm constantly looking for a decent backpack. Can you please share the name / details of those packs you guys use for your carry on? I'd really appreciate it! Keep up the great work and keep enjoying :) cheers!

Thank you Kara and Nate! The things I learned are to leave my "what ifs" at home. Use carry on's. Be grateful when my stuff arrives. Still grieving a sleeping bag lost in Colorado. Now when I fly I'll buy!

I've been enjoying so much of your content recently. I love how you have your differences in packing and can be respectful about it. I say that as long as you are following the airline/TSA rules and it fits into your suitcase, bring as much as you need. No need to compare what works for you against someone else.
@colinbritt332 жыл бұрын
This was awesome! Someday if/when you guys have kids, you’ll need to make another one of these to compare how your travel bags have changed! My wife and I used to be team carry-on only all the time, and now we travel with TWO giant checked bags for ONE baby…
@7irsty2 жыл бұрын
You won’t have to check bags forever! Our daughter is 7 and we travel carry-on only 😊
