I'm craving for Katsudon! It's one of my favourite Japanese street food! 🥰😋🥰😋

Actually , it's not really street food but if you say so I digress.

Is the breading soggy?
@sonny9054 Жыл бұрын
@@angellover02171 Yes, slightly. It’s the sauce and egg. But i love it that way. The are other versions of katsu-don, such as where they only use Worcestershire sauce, which keeps the cutlet very crispy.

@@sonny9054 What is this brown souse, in which pork and egg gurgles on pan?
@sonny9054 Жыл бұрын
@@yalmeme san Katsudon sauce is typically made from soy sauce, mirin (rice wine for cooking), sake, sugar and dashi. The end product is a salty, but sweet sauce with tons of umami. This is the genius of katsudon. And probably this restaurant has its own unique recipe for their sauce. When it comes to Japanese cuisine, everyone tends to talk about sushi, wagyu beef and the ramen scene, but these rice bowl dishes are just spectacular. Just ask any westerner living in Japan like me, and they will tell you that katsudon, unadon and curry rice are absolutely phenomenal. Best kept secret in Japan.
I'm jealous,I wish we had those little hole-in-the-wall places like that here in the states
@Desmaad2 жыл бұрын
That's only feasible in pedestrian-friendly areas. They won't work in car-demanding suburbs.

Who are going to cook it lol. And I'm pretty sure the majority of people would just choose to eat regular fast food instead. There's a reason why Mc Donald in the US don't serve as many items as they would in Asia
@iwontbebeat7111 Жыл бұрын
There are many actually. But all the Japanese restaurants are impersonated by S. Koreans with Super jacked up prices. It looks like it but tastes nothing like it 😉.

The US doesn't have many pedestrian friendly places because how the zoning laws works, any kind of street food has to basically be a drive thru lol
@user-en5vj6vr2u Жыл бұрын
What are you talking about, we have tons of hole in the wall type restaurants. They’re usually foreign cuisine, family-run, and found more often in strip malls. Like where i live, there are a bunch of authentic pho shops in obscure places
Just cannot get katsudon like that where I live. Man looks amazing

Yes...they are masters at their craft. The attention to detail. The rigidness of their routines. To be able to turn out a cooked product with a high degree of consistency all day long is truly amazing. Top chefs indeed. 😃🍞🥪👍

It has that key ingredient in any fine cuisine - SIMPLICITY. It's the quality of the ingredients and the care with which they are prepared that makes the food taste so good.
