Why do so many have to compare guitar players when there are so many Great ones out there today? KWS and Joe B. are among the greatest! Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Davy Knowles, Eric Gales and on and on... They are all great!

Agree with all of you here......... Why can’t musicians offer whatever they offer and just be themselves, without criticism or comparison, just as ordinary people everywhere want to do? I hope to enjoy the moment, not picking things apart. The world is a better place when people are kind to each other.

These guys are both modern day titans. There’s no comparing the two. They’re both great. I will say though the power and strength Kenny has in his hands is godly. Working over a Strat with heavy strings and a clean tone like that is not an easy thing to do. Only and handful of guys in the world have that type of power.

Noah Hunt was the ingredient behind Kenny's Texas style SRV guitar that made the BAND a success. To see him as a background rhythm player is painful. Loved this - joe & KWS are 2 of my most favourite guitar “pickers”now of all time. I havebheard Kenny sing before- he’s a good singer. Of course Noah Hunt can do no wrong in the singing Dept. Reese Wynan- that guy has been wailing away on the blues for so long- he’s no spring chicken but he never misses a note. Amazing. Love the horn section - memories of Chicago when Terry Kath was alive. Saw SRV change guitars mid beat one time- never missed a note. These guys are the ultimate performers!!!

Oh, so you're going to be the "dont compare these guys" voice on this comment section. Be a little more original next time. Interact an idea as to why they should not be compared. Personally, I've always thought KWS was nothing more than another SRV clone that was never able to find his voice. Joe sounded like shit here, but when he's warmed up and phrasing well hes a fuckin monster. Kenny is a b leaguer, which is why he hasnt headlined a huge venue. Is he a solid guitarist? Absolutely. And you know what the biggest shame is? He always had the talent and aptitude, but he failed to become adventurous in his playing. Theres thousands of players that sound very similar to him. He has no trademark. Noe is he the type of guitarist where you can't here 3 to 4 notes and know that's him. Hes a snoozer. Sure, it's all subjective, but you deserved some pushback for telling everyone what to do lol.

@@lewellyncrunkmeyer1512 So, you're saying that the quality of a random 10-yr-old who created a sculpture for art class is on the same level as one of Michelangelo's pieces? Obviously, the criteria used to critique art and compare it is based on visual appeal and an appreciation of the artists technique, at least to some degree. Granted, this is an extreme comparison, but a clear demonstration that some art is better or more appealing than other examples of art. If logic dictates such a differential exists, which I think I just proved, theres an enormous spectrum of instances where various art can be compared, analyzed and concluded that one piece of art is better than another piece (w/in the same genre and medium of course). I've played guitar for over 35 yrs and can state with confidence that I am much better now than when I was 11-yrs-old. But ultimately, you're correct; technically, art cannot be compared. Frankly, I find this fact to be pretentious, tired and unrealistic. Nevertheless, I'm found with the cold hard truth that I must agree with you for the reason already stated. However, I still think that some people have shitty taste in music. For example, 80s punk is some dismal shit. I may not like death metal, but at least they're competent musicians that are accomplishing something worth while. I dont care if you agree or disagree, but that are of punk did not emphasize talent, high-level technique or the implementation of the brilliancy constructed in a beautiful or impressive melody. When we arrive at Kenny and Joe, we have what most contemporary blues fans would concider two great blues guitarists. I can agree with that, but I stand by my reasoning in my first response. Even Joe has been criticized for lackong originality, but no one denies his level of technique. But when comparing, Joe has a versatility that Kenny simply does not possess. Although you may like his music, it does not mean he is a great artist; for the same reason punk is not great. Dont get me wrong, Kenny is 900 times the musician as any punk guitarist; hence, my overall point. But in terms of an overall killer solo though, Joe blows the doors off Kenny in about every aspect of playing possible. And if you dont think Joe can slow it down and phrase beautifully, listen to his shows with Beth Hart. JOE IS A BETTER GUITARIST AND ARTIST THAN KENNY. Convince me otherwise or just shoot me a link. PS: I do think you're right (I'm playing devils advocate), but the rule of not judging requires a comparison of giants in their respective realms of creativity, such as Eric Gales and Joe Bonamassa. Kenny doesnt inhabit this world of "top of the food chain" blues guitarists.
@lewellyncrunkmeyer1512
@lewellyncrunkmeyer1512 4 жыл бұрын
@UCnDvSBGl6b1i3ySDT460W2A I suppose you could create criteria to measure art by. But what good would that do when beauty and quality is in the eyes of the beholder? If you have a Rembrandt that fetches more than a Monet at auction does that make it better? I'm very familiar with these blues artists. If you hear them doing something you perceive as making them better but I don't and prefer the music of another artist, does that make your preferred musician better? To me, and others, probably not. Here's an example: ZZ Top famously played 3 chords on their way to making millions and millions of dollars. If you like them you may not prefer an artist who's music was much more complex but didn't make millions playing in obscurity. That doesn't make ZZ Top better. It's subjective. Not right or wrong, not black and white. There are numbers attached but no score is kept to declare a winner. You don't have to like/dislike other's opinions and subjectivity, or lack their of, just accept their opinion. It's not life or death, it's a personal judgement of someone else's creativity. That's all.

I was literally sitting here thinking "man that Strat is just rubbing me the wrong way with all that binding and big inlays" and then all of a sudden it shorts out and I'm like "I KNEW IT!" LOL! Seriously that would suck bad!

@@missmoke007thebestmusicvideos Was this cruise close to a sell out? Reason I ask is I am wondering if there will likely be space still available a couple months before next years cruise. Thanks for the upload.
