Dr, for active diabetics, what are some of the biggest surprises you’ve seen when patients switch to either a keto or carnivore diet? Have there been any unexpected effects on their energy levels, exercise performance, or blood sugar control?
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
Yes I treat complicated advanced diabetics and it is very hard to change a regular Joe or Joan to change to keto as they not only feel weak but all of their meds needs to be adjusted, soon after they give up and now we have to adjust all meds all over again. I am all about what is acceptable and maintainable to my patients. I am very open minded to whatever they want to do with their diet. There is no one correct way.

Hello Doc Good Day... Im on 16/8 intermittent fasting skipping breakfast meal... May i ask how and what is the best time I should take gliclazide 30mg? Thank you... And God Bless...
@SugarMDs29 күн бұрын
It’s great to hear you’re practicing intermittent fasting. For gliclazide, it's generally recommended to take it before meals, as it helps stimulate insulin release after eating. Since you're on a 16/8 intermittent fasting schedule and skipping breakfast, consider taking your gliclazide about 30 minutes before your first meal of the day during your eating window. However, it’s essential to follow your doctor’s specific instructions, as they may have tailored advice based on your individual health needs. If you have any concerns about timing or how it affects your fasting routine, it’s best to consult your healthcare provider. Take care, and God bless!

What about cheese and Dairy
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
In general, both cheese and dairy can be part of a keto or carnivore diet, but moderation and type of dairy matter, especially for diabetics. Cheese is typically low in carbs and can be suitable for keto, while full-fat dairy products are preferred over those that are processed or contain added sugars. It's important to choose high-quality, low-carb dairy options, and always monitor how your body responds to dairy products since they can affect insulin sensitivity and blood sugar in some individuals.

You mentioned about fiber that is not good for Diabetics, which one is that? Can you explain. Thanks.
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
The type of fiber that is often recommended for diabetics is soluble fiber, as it helps slow the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, leading to better blood sugar control. Examples include oats, fruits, and legumes. However, insoluble fiber, which is found in foods like whole grains and vegetables, while beneficial for digestion, does not have the same impact on blood sugar levels. It’s important to note that both types of fiber are generally good for overall health, but diabetics may focus more on soluble fiber to help with blood sugar management.

@SugarMDs Many thanks Doctor for the explanation. Amazing. This is something new for me. Is there a video that you have talked about this?
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the explanation helpful. I haven't made a video specifically about this topic yet, but I'll be creating one soon to explain the different types of fiber and their effects on blood sugar in more detail. Stay tuned, and thanks for your support!
