I'd watch Vol. 2 asap. It was originally one movie so you don't want to forget anything. The movie studios said people wouldn't sit in the theatre for 4 hours and split the movie.

I didn´t like part 2 nearly as much as part 1, when I first saw it. I thought it was disappointing, because it was so different. But I did want to see it again. And I did. And today, both parts are ranked with a 100% rating on my list, I love these SOOOOOO much. Always worth a re-watch. So, I´m actually very happy with Shaun´s sentiment to let it sink in a little and being open to change up ratings, maybe tweak them a little bit after some time has passed, I do that all the time with my rankings, too. I do have well over 300 movies on my ratings list though, so it´s pretty much unavoidable....

Funnily enough, I saw Vol. 2 first. I hadn't heard about Kill Bill at all and, when I rented it, I didn't even see that it said "Vol 2" on it. Because of the out-of-order storytelling, I don't think it really impacted my enjoyment at all.

Uma Thurman has been around so long. She's such a great actress. I always forget the movies she was in when she was younger after these action movies with her had come out.

Remember seeing her in Henry & June, Tape and Gattaca (with her husband Ethan Hawke), Beautiful Girls (with Matt Dillon). Then even earlier in Dangerous Liasons (with Glenn Close & John Malkovich). She’s definitely got a chunk of work to be proud of before Tarantino.

Fair play to you Shaun! I have enjoyed the journey that you and Tom set out upon (almost two years ago) to watch every movie ever made. With over 500,000 films to date, that is quite an impressive undertaking. It's easy to see why the two of you are friends. Your personalities complement each other, and you both have your own unique insights that you bring to each video. That, along with your hilarious reactions have made this one of my favorite KZbin channels. That being said, it's always challenging when the format of a channel undergoes a transition. It can be hard for the hosts of the channel as well as for the subscribers. A lot of people are resistant to new things, but that is what life is all about. Life is about change and growth. If you don't push your boundaries and take on new challenges, you will start to stagnate, and you'll never find out how much you can potentially achieve. I'm very happy for Tom and his family and I wish the two of them the greatest gift of all; a baby that is happy, healthy and surrounded by loving people. And to you Shaun, this will most likely mean more work and more effort on your part to keep Cinema Rules as great as it is. If today's video is any indication, it looks as though you have things well in hand. And to think that you were able to accomplish all of this while still rocking the most perfect hair on KZbin. Well done, my friend, well done!

Uma Therman was Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction. Quentin Tarantino mentioned to her during filming of P.F a film he wanted to do with her. A story about the best assassins in the world. This film would eventually be Kill Bill. So far, I’ve not seen a QT film I haven’t enjoyed.

Random question but have you guys ever seen ‘return to oz’ ? Its an 80s sequel to the wizard of oz but its VERY dark, and totally different from the first film, worth reacting to. Its pure child nightmare fuel

I have seen Return to Oz. The actress that starred in it did some very fine roles and this one was her “big break”. I think it had possibilities but could have used a few more re-writes.

13:01 -- I can't explain why I love it so much, but there's something so funny and awesome about how the camera immediately cuts to Lucy Liu's feet running across the table instead of showing her getting onto it first. It's so sudden and surprising, which I guess is how those Yakuza members were feeling in the moment too.

Although I was bit disappointed that there wasn’t both of you as usual, but I enjoyed your solo reaction and you were funny. Uma Thurman was an A list actress around that time, but was also was one of the victims of Harvey Weinstein. Probably the reason why we haven’t seen her in films much after starring in Kill Bill.

One of my favorite Tarantino films and the action sequences and Uma Thurman is brilliant. I give both Volumes together a 9 rating. The ending is the perfect cliffhanger. I saw it in the theatre and everyone was gobsmacked to the point that they were all sitting and reacting to it and no one got up quickly when the credits started. Can't wait for your reaction to Vol. 2. And congrats to Tom on his new family addition!!

The animated section is a homage to an Indian film about a serial killer where all the murders were animated in a very cartoony style but all of the rest of the film was live action.

When O-Ren apologizes for ridiculing her it is probably the best single moment in the film. That entire fight with the sound of the running water, and the combination of the snow, and O-Ren's white outfit... Regardless of the other absurdities, that scene is pure art.

I remember seeing this in the theater and just being wowed by the movie and FLOORED by the cliffhanger ending. I think Tarantiino is an absolute genius at filmmaking, though he stands on the shoulders of the giants (and pygmies) who came before him. He can take a variety of genres - martial arts movie, grindhouse movie, thriller, crime drama, war movie, western - and remix them in a way that brings both realism and cinematic grandeur to the original form. Great reaction, mate! I think you will love part 2 as well.

A little fyi, in order to get a R rating in the US, Tarantino had a do some scenes in black and white and also the animated scene with O-REN’s origin story so there was less “blood” scenes. The main character is only known to the viewer as The Bride. You are not supposed to know her name until the 2nd movie but it is hidden in plain sight in the first film.

This movie is so full of pop culture references. The sound they played at the beginning of the first fight where the subtitles say Quincy Jones Ironside every time it plays, is actually the theme from a 1970's cop show about a wheelchair bound detective called Ironside. The famous theme from the show was composed by Quincy Jones. The reason it was used in the film was because it was common for 1970's Hong Kong Kung Fu films to ignore copyright and to just use existing usually well known soundtracks and insert them into their films rather than compose original music. For example, Ennio Morricone's soundtrack for The Good, The Bad and the Ugly has been used in a 1970's Kung Fu movie and the theme from Ironside has been used several times but probably most notably in the film Queen Boxer. Quincy Jones also composed the theme to the original The Italian Job with Michael Caine. The Japanese actor who makes the sword for The Bride is legendary Japanese star Sonny Chiba who was marketed in the 70's as the Japanese Bruce Lee, his most notable and famous films being The Streetfighter trilogy. And The Bride's yellow track-suit at the climax is inspired by a similar iconic outfit worn by Bruce Lee in the film Game of Death.

I know it's weird but this is 100% a childhood movie for me. Saw it @12 y/o and it's one of my most rewatched (up there with Jurassic Park, Aliens, The Matrix). I love everything about it.

I really hope you enjoy vol 2 as well. It was fun to see your reaction. Hard to believe it has been like almost 20 years since these movies came out. I think out of all Uma's movies the Kill Bills are fun and I also loved her in Gattaca. Not a lot of folks fav, but I really liked her in that one.
