I love that you both get such a kick out of Jay and the absolute filth that pours out of his mouth. The Inbetweeners really is the closest portrayal of British teenage boys you'll see on any show. The dynamic between the lads, the relentless piss taking and the filthy dialogue is what made the show so damn relatable and a huge cross generational hit in the UK.

@@andyc6542 get a grip?? WTAF... Clearly you never lived during the times when we got some shocking American "comedy" TV and we exported our stuff to them. Some American stuff is excellent, but I was not sure if dome of our comedy would work over there, I. E. The young ones, bo selecta, Harry Enfield etc as it is so intrinsically British.. @@sitcorocket Sorry for the hostile reply! Think certain shows translate better - this is very much in line with comedies like American Pie, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that it translates so easily across the pond, maybe excepting a few terms and phrases that we use over here. Completely agree that other comedies may be harder to be understood in America. It’s not even a scenario that is exclusive between our two nations - certain older sitcoms (off the top of my head, Steptoe and Son, partly because I’ve just watched a few episodes) may not be appreciated by younger audiences now as the passage of time can alter our views on comedy in certain instances.
@andyc6542
@andyc6542 2 жыл бұрын
@@sitcorocket I also think ‘funny’ is funny wherever you’re from. As long as the cultural reference points aren’t too far removed, I think most people can appreciate a funny sitcom. I mean, Dads Army isn’t something I should ‘get’, despite being British, but I still find it funny. I think most great comedies can remove cultural barriers with great scriptwriting, funny scenarios and good acting.

Hilarious reaction from you guys. I never watched the show first time around as I thought I was too old for it, but I eventually got around to it and it's one of the funniest things I've ever watched. I'm nearly 50 and still p!55!ng myself laughing at it!

Those hulky Seagulls are either Herring Gulls or Black Back Gulls. Basically the same thing but different patch on the back. But yeah they are fucking massive, aggressive, pull trash bags out of the bins and open them up all over the street like a buffet. They do also wake up at the crack of dawn which in mid summer is 3.30 am in Edinburgh. They do eat a lot of rats so it's not so bad for an old city. Foxes help with that as well actually.

Her accent is so horrible, when I was a kid watching the show I thought she was just a bad actress because of it as it sounds fake, then found out she actually talks like that in real life. But it ruined the episode for me, wherever in NI she's from, I really hope no more people from there go into TV/Film acting because the accent is dreadful and sounds so out of place. I'm glad she was only a one off character... (I'm Northern Irish too btw)

There are three seasons on the Inbetweeners. The first movie follows after the events from season three. (Edit: I live in Torquay, UK. Our seagulls are huge. They regularly steal whole battered fish - from fish and chips - from unlucky tourists).

The term bender actually stems from the early 80’s and the likes of Boy George who were said to be ‘gender benders’ as they were pushing gender boundaries. The term then widened to encompass homosexuality.

Damn so now I’ve googled Florida seagulls and they’re TINY.. they’re like baby pigeons! Yeah are seagulls are like bigger than ducks, smaller than geese. They’re fucking viscous too.. I’ve been attacked by a seagull twice, one time I didn’t even have food on me, but I guess it just assumed it did. They fly in the air right in front of you and you just have to swing for them multiple times or they’ll fully divebomb you. Pricks.
