Now, into the second week of September, it's actually pretty astonishing that Ukraine managed to not only hold the Russians in the northeast and east, but also assault towards Kherson while preparing for a massive assault to take the Russian regional logistics base at Kup'yansk and liberate all the way down to Izium in a matter of days. In ten days, the Ukrainian military reclaimed four times the territory that the previous three months of Russian aggression took. Here's hoping it's only the beginning and that soon this war will be over and the Russian people will force Putin to pay for his crimes.

@@totallynotalpharius2283 I think there's some untalked about brilliance with those ukranian offensives because of those very reasons. Ukraine is pushing hard to gain alot of its territory back before winter sets in. Then it can defend in the winter after ensuring a near immediate counter attack from Russia due to the damage the Russian losses would have on Putins position. He can't afford to organize through the winter and wait until spring if his nation gets embarrassed by Ukranian territorial gains. The mobilization has already increased the tension in the country. He would risk too much civil discontent.

"actually pretty astonishing" Not necessary. It takes at least half a year to train a new recruit and Ukrainian army was flooded with volunteers at start of the war. So with Russian having problems to replace their attrition and weapons steadily flowing one should have expected changing balance after 7-8 months.

Being an addict of this channel, everything is referenced from and in a time -in many cases- that we might only imagine the battleground scenario, troop and equipment configurations, as well as the interactions and personal lives of all parties pertinent from their infancy to the positions they attained-from pauper to War Lord. But now-almost surreally- you are presenting current history as it's being randomly cast throughout a world where there seems to be little consideration regarding the "Doomed to repeat it" warning. This channel has presented a brilliant foil between opinionated "History" sources/ channels and true, honest, and humble professors and instructors in basic humanity and its self-inflicting atrocities.

As a former FA officer, if my enemy has 105mm howitzers, I would send 155mm howitzers against them to out range them (If i can). It's not necessarily true, just see the difference between when it's a Russian strike, the channel mentions the number of deaths, but when it's a Ukrainian strike, they mention the number of equipment stations targeted. This builds the idea that Russian attacks = killing people, but Ukrainian strikes = pure, and morally good bc they only destroy equipment. The propaganda is ongoing from both sides from the moment they identify each other as enemies, therefor the story will be corrupted even when it's in the making. Also, the Ukrainian "sepratist" would be easily identified as Ukrainian minority "Independance" troups. The colors of the picture are decided by the one presenting it.

Based off the interviews I've seen of ordinary Russians from KZbinrs like 1420, full mobilization would receive an overwhelmingly negative response in Moscow and St. Petersburg. It seems the majority of educated or affluent Russians still support the war but only because it hasn't directly impacted their lives, as most the troops in Ukraine are from rural regions, marginalized republics like Chechnya, foreign countries or the LPR and DPR. There's no way Putin will be able to maintain majority support if he starts forcing middle class ethnic Russians to die for his war

1420 is obviously very biased in favor of urban, "europhile" Russians in the western part of the country. Are you aware of any other similar channels with similar videos from rural and/or eastern Russians? Genuine question, I'm curious.

@isalmeda you like how Putin said the “special military operation” would be over in 3 days? Then 3 weeks? Then it was by May 9? Then it was “We never said May 9…”? Now I think it’s supposed to be over by February of next year? Just admit it, Russia’s getting its ass handed to it by a country that should have been a cake walk.

@UCajMSPzUSyYS2jYT8hWznjw He states available sources, but he does mention that actual losses may differ. Personally I think that the Russians sit at around 30k dead and 50k-ish wounded and the Ukrainians are roughly somewhere in that area aswell. That doesn't mean both sides perform equally well though. For example, I for one I believe that the Ukrainian infantry outclasses the Russians in most regards. They have more well trained troops on the ground, their guys are generally better equiped, and while both sides deploy large number of hastly trained troops, the Ukrainian rookies are still more motivated and determined, which is a very important factor. The Ukrainian soldier wants to jump in the Russian trench and shoot them in the face. The Russian soldier wants to get his money and go home, he is as motivated and dedicated as a McDonald's employee. The casualties are more or less even because the Russians simply shell entire grid squares day in and day out for weeks and weeks at a time. I know you didn't ask, that was just my 2 cents.

@@daniels0376 good point, but russians had heavier losses than Ukrainians. According Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, today, 27.08.2022 russian-terroristic forces lost 47 thousand of killed. This indicates only visually transparented, confirmed by video fixation or by intelligence approve. Of course it sounds more than ASIW or British Intelligence reported week ago about 85 thousands killed and non-return wounded russians). But in that number they didn’t include Rosgvardia (Russian police special forces), LPR/DPR separstists, Abkhaz separatists regiment, Syrian hitmans, Vagner, Liga, Rusich and other near nazi volunteers regiments, regiments of other troops, Belorussian mercenaries etc. So, if count as 25 thousand killed russian forces as per British and Anerican intelligence reported week ago and compare with 44 thousand killed russian -terroristic troops as per Ukraine (which tries to give accurate calculation of losses to western partners) means that another 19 thousand of russian-terroristic losses are all those combatant war criminals who is not in official army losses count. So, Commander in Chief of Ukrainian army - Valeriy Zaluzhnyi 3 days ago reported almost 9 thousand killed Ukrainian defenders. It’s around 4 times less than total russian terroristic forces and 2,5 times less than minimal calculation of US and UK intelligence calculation of only russian army ground forces (except Rosguards and other separatist militia and war criminals detachments).

It’s become increasingly clear that Russia will eventually *have* to mobilize to take significantly more territory or hold what they have, and Ukrainian enthusiasm hasn’t diminished. What goes unmentioned is how damaging that would be not just to Putin’s political situation, but to Russia’s already teetering economy.
@Mousse9
@Mousse9 Жыл бұрын
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but...imagine you're a Russian civilian, just going to work, and suddenly you're conscripted, have to go to war in Ukraine, and STAY there to occupy the territory. Where the population hates you and sees you (rightfully) as the invader. Not only will Russia lose a chunk of its workforce and economy, the soldiers themselves would probably have a real nasty time of it. Bombings, sabotage, guerrilla tactics by the Ukrainian population... Ukraine is huuuge too, so a LOT of people are needed to keep it occupied.

@@Alexq79- Yeah, my thoughts went to Afghanistan too. Two things I wanted to add though. I read somewhere (can't remember where, sorry), that Russia is aiming to purge the Ukrainians from Ukraine, and replace them with Russians from Russia itself. No Ukrainians, no revolt. Another thing is that maybe Russia will do it in chunks instead of all at once. Look at Crimea, there were a lot of Russians vacationing there when the airport got bombed. Just bite off a chunk, move Russians in, rinse and repeat. First Crimea, then the east with all its industries and resources, and more recently the southern coastline. Wasn't that one of Putin's strategies? Invade a part, like Crimea, sue for peace (and keep the land as part of the peacedeal), settle it with Russians, invade another part, sue for peace, settle it with Russians, etc. A viable tactic if the west keeps giving Putin more land until everything is taken.

@@carloscunha8625 First off, your numbers are ridiculous. Even the most heavy loss estimates for Ukraine puts their losses at around 15,000 and another 5000 or so civilians murdered by Russians. Thats less than even the most conservative estimate of Russian losses, which is somewhere north of 25,000. Second, it turns out that if your nation is invaded by Fascists who then openly commit a genocide on your people in the areas they occupy, you have good reason to resist with everything you have until they are all dead.

Russia obviously can't mobilize. If it could, it would have done so months ago, around the time when it became clear that the war isn't going to end quickly. Every single passing day allows Ukraine to train more troops and receive more foreign help, only making their armed forces stronger, while Russia already had to bring tanks built in the sixties out of storage to fill their mechanized units. By the end of the year, the balance of power will be on Ukrainian side.
