Yeah , maybe some. So many of these units, are just small things like the door isn’t sealing properly, the door hinge not working properly and of course no adjusting the front legs

The ice maker fan is probably bad or you are not getting water to the Icemake. You can put it in diagnostics and go to . Do you know how to do that? Here are some steps-•32 ice box fan •37 ice box thermistor-01 is good •Test 45- water fill test •Test 56- E0- 'no error' E1- not cooling Service 58- Ice maker heater and thermistor 0= ice maker heater off 1= ice maker heater on 2= temperature warmer/harvest temp 1= temp cooler then harvest 3= shorted •Service 59- deals with ice maker motor

Hi, I m getting ice but the grinder thingy is not turning. I took off the plastic to look at the brass knob and its stuck. Any ideas??

Send me a video, try removing the ice bin. Open the door and pressing the door switch and dispensing arm. See if the motor is turning. The ice bin arm might be damaged. Keep me posted

@appliancerepairshorts can I call you ? I am getting ice but very slow. Is there a setting to make a little ice ? It's odd. Checked everything. All settings etc etc

ok I think I am missing something. How do you check to see if you are getting water to the ice maker? The water dispenser works. I had to turn the water off to the house during a week long trip; came back and ice maker was not working after I turned water back on? Thanks.

Send me your model number, but you can put it in diagnostic to see if water is coming in. I think it’s 67 but I’ll confirm. I think it might be your ice maker fan that is not working. Also, reach in with your finger and see if you feel ice in the mold. If you feel ice, you are getting water and it’s cold enough to make ice. You can try unplugging the fridge first for 5 minutes and plugging back in then wait 24 hours to see if ice dropped. If not, it’s your ice maker that will need to be replaced.

@@appliancerepairshorts KitchenAid Refrigerator KRMF706ESS01 I ran the fill diagnostic 45 and I heard water and the ice fill tray has some water in it. I just unplugged and will see what happens. Thanks

I followed the steps in this video and it still doesn't work. The water dispenser works and the ice maker will fill with water when in diagnostic mode but the ice doesn't empty nor will it fill with water in operational mode. What could be causing this problem? It started with the refrigerator not recognizing the doors were closed. It took a few tries but unplugging it and plugging it back in reset the "door ajar" light but the ice maker has not been the same since.

So if you’re having trouble with the door not closing, as in the computer thinks it is open. The unit will not disperse any. So you need to adjust the door . Normally it is the freezer-left side door- try adjusting the hinges. Or you might need the insert bushing. You can try lifting slightly to raise the door and see if that signals the door opening issue. Keep me posted. Those KitchenAid units are okay one they are fixed

Hi, on my kitchenaid krmf706ess01 there is no ice. Diagnostic mode 56 gives E2. What should I do? Please help.

You need to replace your ice maker. Try unplugging it for 5-10 minutes check it tomorrow and see. Make sure your filter is good and the ice fan is blowing. If not blowing, you will make ice sometimes and it will melt. The ice fan is super important. Keep me updated

The micro switch was stuck. The little green board portion. It wasn’t making ice for about a week. Making now. Thanks for watching

I was wondering about something, is there a rule of thumb that techs use to say a magnatron is weak? Is there a certain temp/time measurement? It seems as though You could use a Kilo Watt and test the wattage.@@appliancerepairshorts

@@TPINSC normally if it is not grounded and has good resistance then it is technically good. I normally like to see less than 1 ohms of resistance. . Thanks for watching

I have the same refrigerator but my lights stay off when the doors are open and wont make ice or call for water. Water line going to the refrigerator is on. Touch screen is working and product is staying cool. What could be my issue?

Check the door and make sure it is leveled. If the door is not touching the door switch, it thinks the door is open. You can manually do it. Open one side and press or tape the door light/auger switch. Not pretty the water paddle. Also make sure you have a good filter. Also unplug for 5 minutes.

The water test was conducted, I did not show the actual water, but i inserted my fingers into the ice maker and it was wet. The micro switch was stuck. Sometimes a bad fan and micro switch can stop ice production.

@@jenslee1678 first check your filter. Make sure it is fully seated . You can put it into diagnostics, and check the water. Also check your ice maker fan. It should blow all the time. If your icebreaker isn’t cold enough, it cannot call for water. Here is a quick test. Close the right door and press the button to trick the door into close. Feel the fan. If it turns off, it is bad. If you release the button and it comes on, it is bad

Thank you for your help. After I placed it in test mode and tried a couple times to get it to produce water it started sending water to the maker. I’m not sure what got it to finally send the water though. Maybe a plugged/scaled valve? Not sure as all the other tests came back good from the diagnostic standpoint. I worry that it will happen again, but at least I have your awesome video and these pointers to help me troubleshoot.

One additional observation that I couldn’t find any info on. On the inside of the door where the ice bin is I observed I had a little red light on near the ice maker selector switch. This went away once the ice maker started working again. Any clue what that red light indicates?

I’m with you in regards of how much they cost and the issues they been having . There are a few that are way worse. So what is going on with your unit?

@@appliancerepairshorts 1 yr in the lights stop working, it no longer makes ice, it no longer cools at the top, it ices at the bottom so it no longer defrosts on its on. It’s hardly of any use now. I pretty much use my much older and cheaper Frigidaire that’s in my basement. I had it longer, it didn’t cost as much, it’s not as pretty as the kitchenaid, but it works perfectly. All I had to do for that one is change water filters. The Kitchenaid looks nice, it’s bigger, more expensive, but it is an awful unit.

@@MrMakintosh100 it sounds like you have a clogged drain, or the drain is missing. The icebreaker gets its cold from the fresh food section, so if you are icing up, you will not make ice. Reason for that, ice is a very good insulator. I have videos on your unit. They can be a pain, but once worked out, they are pretty good

@@appliancerepairshorts I think I figured it out with your help of course. When you said “clog” I found the resolve to watch a video on how to dissemble the unit. Once I was able to get to the evaporator fan it was covered in ice including the coils. It’s no way the fan could work in that condition with the ice blocking/clogging it. After letting it thaw with the help of a blow drier (I was careful not to use high heat and to keep a safe distance) I turned the unit back on and the fan worked. I was concerned that the fan went bad as I was thinking that it iced up because the fan went out. So far the the unit is getting colder as if this fixed the problem. My lights still don’t work, but I can live with that for now as long as the unit gets cold and can make ice.

Very modular design though. Loads of issues with my unit
