The best upgrade the ZC33S can receive is an LSD, then an upgraded engine mount and 20/25mm lowering springs and maybe aluminum gear lever bushings to improve shift feel and precision. After that a Stage1 tune to about 170hp. And there you have it, an old school hot-hatch without going bankrupt.

I have a ‘22 plate Sport (mild hybrid) as my driving school car. I bought it for its reliability (and of course it’s element of fun). It’s a mixed bag of good and bad. But overall it’s been 100% reliable. The engine also feels quite muscular - great fun on a country road! Some of the build quality is good. No particular rattles. But those plastic coverings each side of the centre console, near your ankle are a joke! It’s not as cohesive a package as a proper hot hatch (steering, atmosphere, seating position, chassis etc)… but overall, i think I made the right choice in terms of robustness, reliability and fun. Great little car that should last longer than some competitors.

The driving experience is probably more fun with the NA 1.6L, although you can't argue with the outright speed of the 1.4L turbo. BOV install makes it slower, as it dumps boost into atmosphere. It also makes it run excessively rich because you vent metered air. Shouldve spent the money on a good remap... Also, the Jazz is only 180KG lighter than the Civic. I'd rather they put it in a new CR-Z that is preferably a lot lighter than both the Civic and the Jazz...

@The_Noticer.Ай бұрын
@@KiwiCarLife The issue is that you blow off boost pressure, so lifting and going back on throttle has a bit more lag. But if the turbo is small you wont notice it as much. The bigger issue is that you vent air that already went past the MAF. So when you put your foot back on the throttle, it injects fuel based on that. You get a lot of rich conditions. Full credit to the engineers at Sukuki, how they managed to fit the redline from a diesel engine in that little 1.4 litre petrol engine is beyond me.
@YuichiTamakiАй бұрын
Luckily they put the torque of a diesel too
@KiwiCarLifeАй бұрын
HAHAHA in all fairness I don’t know of many diesels revving to 6000rpm, but yeah it’s not particularly high for a small zingy engine
@joshklaver47Ай бұрын
@@MrWilliam.Stewart What factory diesels rev to 6,000rpm? It's pretty common that turbocharged engines don't rev that high, because they don't need to. Their main advantage is producing lots of low and mid-range power and torque.
@christopherjohnston6343Ай бұрын
People want peak torque at 2000rpm. The lower redline is the trade-off. Your average suzuki swift customer probably doesn't visit the redline that often so this car will feel so much faster than the previous gens for that customer base
@MrWilliam.StewartАй бұрын
The all new Suzuki Swift Sport Diesel, so advanced it runs on petrol. Despite having the same redline as my old Triton ute, and making as much peak power as a tuned Kei car, I want one. Had me at 930Kg. The fact its diesel engine runs on petrol is just a bonus. Looking forward from the 90s, it would have been hard to imagine a sports tuned 1,372cc Suzuki engine that had a redline lower than a Camry. Oh what a feeling, low rev cut.

I genuinely don't understand the 'warm hatch' concept. Oh, I'm 55 years old btw, worked in the motor trade for years, and owned many fast cars (currently in an M2). I don't understand why anyone who wants to drive quickly, would buy a halfway house warm hatch. Even something like a Golf Gti is much quicker, much more fun, and still easily (if not more), practical as a daily. I have driven a few of these Swift Sports, and I find them horrible. The engine is harsh, the gears are clunky, they are not actually very 'sporty', and they are no faster than a none performance hatch. The interior quality is shocking, every knob and button feels like it's going to break off every time you touch them. I have had better quality plastic phone cases than any part of the interior of these. I would not go anywhere near one, after several disappointing drives in them.
@KiwiCarLifeАй бұрын
I guess it depends what you’re comparing it to, I agree compared with a golf gti this is a step back, but it also costs half as much. I see it as a much better and more fun Jazz/ Yaris, than a worse gti
@PaulDnb4 күн бұрын
I totally disagree with the majority of what you are saying. I am 51 and own a Zc33s and previously owned a zc32s. They are both brilliant fun to drive little cars. Yes the interior may not be made of the best quality materials but they are not luxury cars. The build quality is excellent and Suzukis reliability is second to none. The sss is about the closest you get in terms of size and performance to the Astra GTEs, Escort XR3s, Golf GTIs etc of the 80s and 90s. The cars that gave hot hatches their name. In my opinion hot hatches of today have exceeded the term hot hatch, and should be classed as super or hyper hatches🤷
@DjNikGnashers4 күн бұрын
@@PaulDnb If they were around in the 80's and 90's, yes they would have been comparable to the hot hatches of that era, and it would be correct to call them a hot hatch. But times move on, and just because hot hatches are now a lot faster, a lot better handling, and a lot more luxurious today, that does not mean they aren't still hot hatches. They are simply the hot hatches of this era. You can't just keep inventing new names for something which is essentially the same thing as it was, albeit 30 years newer with 30 years of development making it 30 years worth of better. By your opinion, we should call the new RS3 a super-duper-hyper-ultra-hatch ffs. The fact you own one says everything, it's simply a case of 'I haven't owned anything better so I know no different'. Of course you are going to sing the praises of the car you own, like a true fanboy, nobody is going to say 'I spent a lot of money on a car I really liked and it's crap' 🙂
