Anne's movement is controlled by an invisible, rolling cube. The reason why you struggle with slopes, stairs, platforms, and jumps is because of the cube's collision.

I don't know, it's a pretty *t h i c c* cube. You can see it when you activate the, "Bones," cheat, which essentially turns on wire frame.
@AaronDarkus
@AaronDarkus 5 жыл бұрын
Why the developers would have decided to use a cube for collisions?. To make fights against dinosaurs a little more "difficult" (since now they can have more opportunities to damage you) by increasing the size of the hitbox?.
@Silanda
@Silanda 3 жыл бұрын
@@AaronDarkus Probably because everything's governed by a physics engine that largely relies on interaction between cubes, and trying to implement a separate bipedal walking and IK simulation for the player on top of an already janky physics system would likely have been a mess. Just look at how bizarre some of the dinosaur movements are and imagine that the player moved in the same way.

3 Brachiosaurus, 46 Velociraptor , 1 Stegosaurus , 1 Triceratops 4 Parasaurlophus , 1 Tyrannosaurus Rex and 1 Albertosaurus This includes the dinos from part 1 and part 2 and part 3 and will still be added so everyone will have an idea of the dino population in Trespasser. Hey Klayton maybe might do a video on how many dinos in the game for a future video just so people can have a bit of trivia info lol or to get a guess of the dino population hehe. "This game in 1998 must have played horribly" honestly found it in 2002. I was so impressed by the graphics and the unique story it told I didn't mind the glitches. It glitched at least once a level but my gosh, it was unlike anything I had ever seen. It was and is my favorite JP games. They did a bang up job especially the story, it is beautifully blended into the game play. Just answering your Statement 👍

If guns were conveintly available in films just like tresspasser Grant would have found another gun imediatly after the first one was jammed. Malcolm would have gotten a gun when they reached the worker village. Grant would have gotton plenty of weapons all over sorna in JP3. Gray and Zack would have gotten several weapons during their encounter with I Rex and their visit to old park.Owen would have found a weapon right before his encounter with the Carnotaures.

Amazing let's play so far! Though the only feedback I would give you is to play this with the trescom community patch which fixes some of the bugs and gives an option for the raptors to actually jump at you like they should. The game at launch was unifinished and the patch allows some of those lost features to be enabled once again. If not for this let's play I highly recommend you to replay this game on your own with the community patch installed and perhaps some other mods. Having a group of raptors jump at you is honestly terrifying and it is an experience everyone should have while playing this game! Even still, loving your content and keep up the great work! It's so good to give a forgotten game like Trespasser some exposure. Ps. Bunny hopping, as in smash that jump key so damn much, on the hills and little slopes helps a lot when getting around becomes more tricky because of the terrain.

@kosztaz87
@kosztaz87 4 жыл бұрын
Correct me if I am wrong, but that mentioned patch where you can activate Raptor jumps, is a different one called Trespasser ATX. And the mod in these videos is the Trespasser CE mod. In the ATX mod you have more features, but horrid graphics and framerate (at least for me), while the CE mod is amazingly smooth with much improved drawing distance and generally improved visuals. At least this is what I know. I really wanted to experience jumping Raptors, but that ATX mod runs like absolute crap on my system, and couldn't put up with the pixelated graphics, and objects transitioning from a 2d pile of pixels into 3D fom like 15 feet in front of me.

I don't remember the game running particularly badly in the late 90s/early 00s, when I played it, and I didn't have a super advanced computer. I had a Windows 95 (or rather my parents did), and that wasn't even a super-new computer at the time. It's not considered a bad game because of that, it's because the controls are bad, the in game physics (which was way to ambitious for the time) didn't work well, the puzzles were dumb and often didn't work right, and the way you control Anne makes no sense. I remember stacking boxes being a huge pain in the ass. You'll see the problems on full display when it comes time for Anne to enter numbers on a key pad. Despite a lot of those problems which arguably make it a broken game, I still remember being immersed. It's a great guilty pleasure that I still come back too once every few years, though nowadays I come back to it more in the form of playthroughs like these than actually playing it.

You know. The more I look at this game, the more I wish people could actualy make a great survival horror game based off of dinosaurs. Instead of crappy jumpscares, have the dinosaurs act like real animals and make the carnivore dinosaur encounters frightening, like in Tresspaser and give the player some low ammo count when fighting back. I am sick and tired of run and hide mechanics modern survival horror games have nowdays. It can be scary at first, but the more you play these kind of games, the more tedious they become. :/

Yeah, thing I love about Tresspasser is that you can fight back, but it's not guaranteed that you will come out on the top. Far more scary than games where you just run and hide, you know, because you have to be able to beat the game, so the monsters can't just instantly catch you, but when you have ammo, it's not so sure.

I played this game back in the day maybe a year after it came out with a minimum system requirements PC at 166Mhz and it did struggle, but was still playable. I upgraded to a 500Mhz PC with a 3DFX Voodoo3 shortly after, and was blown away with how smooth it ran. With those specs it ran like a dream, though I've since forgotten how much memory either PC had. I spent an absurd amount of time playing and re-playing this game. I had multiple saves all across the island so I could explore and try to decipher every bit of lore the game might have hidden away, even trying to find out if there was any meaning in what were probably just random props the developers scattered around. I even had a few saves where I took the time to find and organize every single physical item, including raptor corpses, across all levels into neat rows and piles (which I still have screenshots of). I know it is broken and has some issues with canon, but my gosh was it ambitious and interesting! I still have the original box and CD, and despite its problems, it still holds a very special place in my heart as one of my favorite games of all time due to how it pulled me into its world and made me feel. I don't know if it will ever be possible for me to re-capture that childhood wonder and first experience with something like this ever again, but watching you play through it for the first time has made those memories re-emerge. Thank you.

2:25 They can if they walk into eachother all the time because the jaws are coded to always do damage to anything they touch. 5:00 My guess is that they simply ran out of fuel, a littlebird helicopter has a servicerange of 267 miles (and that is at 5000 ft) and Isla Sorna is 207 miles from Costa Rica. So basically they had enough fuel just to crash on the island. Good job Biosyn :D

Dr. Allan Grant and his crew arrived there only to be attacked by the Spinosaurus and escaped the encounter but ran into the T-rex later on, it's very liking that the pilot of the plane that was found probably died from the elements and/or blood loss (if they were injured during the crash). I actually played it back in 1998, it was running fine on my celeron 300A, but I could never get used to the controls back then, so I never got far into the game, but it's a pleasure to watch you play through it, I should have stuck to it, and learned the controls it seems.

I always thought the "monolith" was just something they forgot to texture and left it black like a sign. Now that I think about it, especially being out of bounds, makes more sense as an Easter egg.

Not sure if you ever heard from anyone about what this game was like back in 1998. I was one of the people who was really hyped and bought it day one. I believe I had a 300mhz AMD K6 2 w/ a Voodoo2. I had it running on 3dFX/open GL at 800x600 resolution and maybe 32 megs of ram. Ran alright with the video card, but maybe around 30 fps. I remember hearing about how the A.I. in the game was meant to run in a simulation type of manner. Where it would be hungry, and they would hunt other dinos, and others would be docile, or run away. The way they tried to integrate it, caused the dinos to have errors and bug out and stuff. I remember being a little disappointed but awed by the graphics and how good it looked. The game lacked in some ways but was really cool in others. I wish they remade this now.

I had a friend who had a good computer that played 3d games back in the late 90s and also had this game, and the game actually performed normally, like you are playing right now.

When I heard you say “so much for our first pistol, it’s useless.” I was like H-Hammond are you there? I thought you died in 1997! You sounded really similar and for that I give you props.

The first time i was playing Trespasser ended nasty, when i didn't realize the mounted machine gun on top of the car near the village was usable. I ran low on ammo, so i tried to take cover from the car and keep shooting the albertosaurus. (I actually managed to squeeze into it).... Ended up going down Eddie style, when the albertosaurus managed to stick it's head inside the car from above. :(

This game is so cool, if only it was playable. And I really hope we do see some Biosyn in JW3. I would be pissed if we went five movies without even seeing another canon mention of the novels' main antagonists.

21:29 I mean it could be a game glitch but considering film fans I would suspect it is. Which is one hell of a easter egg if you ask me. It'd be really cool to have Trespasser remade and have the Monolith there and if you touch it you get a mind trip scene like David Bowman at the end of the movie.

the part in Hammond's memoirs where he talks about only a few species were able to adapt to the modern world makes total sense [ to a point ]. I mean oxygen levels were much, much higher than they are today and that was a major contributing factor to animal growing so large. A tyrannosaur or sauropod would struggle to get enough oxygen today. In reality the only dinosaurs that would've easily adapted would have most likely been triceratops sized or smaller. unless somehow as they grew from hatch-lings there bodies were able to adapt to the lower oxygen levels.

The game took a lot to lead. I remember playing with my dad and then our computer would start making a lot of noises. I would say, "something must be coming dad! Is it John Hammond talking or a raptor?!"
