I LOVE your tutorials. They are so easy to follow. I am using this pattern to make some pretty dish cloths. Speaking of dish cloths - Maybe you can help me with this one. I'm having a problem with the cast off. I do not know what this dish cloth is called - but many people use this pattern. 1. Cast on 4 loops 2. Knit 3 rows 3. Knit 2 yo knit across to the end You do this until you have 50 loops on your needle Then you start casting off. This is where I am having a problem. I keep watching other videos. Way people tell you to cast off it works - but when it is finished I have these thin line pattern going down the sides of the other half of the dish cloth knitted. I do not know how to cast off without getting this line pattern on the other have of the dish cloth. Can you help me with this?

I love watching your tutorials. You speak clearly & slowly enough, for me to follow And your work is lovely. I think I will use this pattern for a scarf. I am re-learning how to knit, after being away from it for more than 20 years. My grandmother first taught me when I was 5, but she's no longer with us. So, I have to find another way to learn; hence, You Tube. Even though I am now the age of a grandmother, you kind of remind me of my own grandmother, who was so sweet & very patient. :) I just have a couple questions about this pattern, if you don't mind: 1) I have DK yarn, to make a scarf. What size needles would you use for this pattern, using DK yarn? 2) Would it be a good idea, if I'm making a scarf, to add 4 or 5 stitches on each side, to be done in knit stitches? You said to do this on another lace scarf you demonstrated. 3) Also, should I do a few rows of all knit stitches when I start and finish scarf? Thank you so very much. I look forward to more of your videos. :)
@JoannesWeb7 жыл бұрын
1.- A size 8US (5mm) needle will be ok. 2.- Yes. About 4 stitches on each side of garter or seed stitch. 3.- Yes, Use the same stitch as on the sides for about 6 rows.

Really pretty stitch. Do you think this would look good for a blanket?
@JoannesWeb9 жыл бұрын
+Belle Starr Not too much for a blanket because it's "open". Meaning like "lace". It will not be very warm. Maybe for a shrug or a cowl.
@kjt60599 жыл бұрын
+Belle Starr I think it would be great for a baby blanket, though. With the kind of yarn she is using, it would be soft and lightweight, perfect for napping!
@bailley1008 жыл бұрын
+Belle Starr It would make a lovely spring/summer blanket, when you just want something light covering you. No matter how hot it is, if I am going to have a nap, I like the security of a blanket...just my opinion.

Hi Joanne, wld you mind clarifying what you mean by “cast off as always”? Thanks 😊
@JoannesWeb4 жыл бұрын
There are many ways to bind off. The usual way, like here, is that you knit 2, pass the first over the second...knit another stitch and pass the first over the last one knitted and so on. Sometimes we ask people to bind off in pattern, in which case you continue the pattern and pass one over the other, even if they are yarn overs or purls.
