First watch, i assumed the Beast titan was Grisha, and that Eren just happened to get his powers as a result of some weird genetics thing. It wasnt until the end of S3 that i realized what happened at the Wharf and with Grisha and Eren.

I'm with you on the Grisha Beast Titan thing, not sure why I thought that though lol.
@jamsteroffthewheel473111 ай бұрын
@@sourMaxipooit made sense during the first watch through, because grisha suddenly disappeared and we had no reason to assume he was dead. Plus something in his eyes made him look like a jeager, and we didn’t know zeke existed.
@shepherdhearth11 ай бұрын
I had the same conjecture first time around. The Beast Titan face looked like Grisha’s and when we see Zeke pop out the first time, the silhouette (especially glasses),made it look like Grisha. My only misgiving at the time was the hair color did look blonde and not dark brown, but I wasn’t sure if that was misdirection by him being in front of the sunlight in the shot.

I love your take on Pixis! He can be calculating and not entirely trusting, but he always put the Eldians' survival first. Erwin is a hero in our eyes as he's cool and correct in terms of the bigger pircture, but for many Eldians, he really is a devil who would sacrifice lives without flinching.

I still thought Grisha had done something to make Eren transform and I was in denial about him getting eaten, up until it was confirmed. And I think the crsytal catacombs is the new (Levi) Ackerman-paradox. It might be never stated that it's called the crystal catacombs, but it is.

Ugh, I love this series so much! In fact, this video made me realize something and I'm curious to know if I missed something or if I'm ~overanalyzing~: in the video, one part I love is how it's deliberately called out that Hange made sure to recognize the acts of individuals to make these tough calls and the breakdown in general of how a "group" doesn't accurately reflect the choices of everyone. That being said, I could never fully place why the Eldians outside the walls rubbed me the wrong way, even after learning and understanding the predicament they were in, and this video made me realize: even though we see why they think and behave the way they do, we don't ever really see any of them really choose to make that difficult choice of going against group. I know I'm speaking broadly, but I think of Erwin who, despite the death of his father, was still driven to uncover the truth, and I believe it's indirectly stated that Armin's parents were killed for similar reasons. The entire ending is Paradis once again forced to fight amongst themselves, to kill friends to do what they thought was right. So it's established that regardless, speaking out in some way puts you and loved ones at risk. The Eldians of Paradis (again, knowing I'm speaking broadly here) still chose to fight amongst themselves for whatever they thought was right, but the Eldians of Marley weren't ever really shown to be willing to make that same sacrifice. I think it's very realistic and very human, but it does make me wonder. Everyone lived in fear of something, but outside the walls the groupthink didn't waver until the Rumbling. Granted, I also recognize the Eldians were forced to live with the "shame" of their ancestors and the Eldians of Paradis were not, so maybe that's it and I typed this all out for nothing, lol. But it's something I've been stuck on and I'm curious to hear other opinions!

Such a great analysis, as always. Can't wait for Return to Shiganshina! ❤ I just want to add that Erwin carried out this coup without casualties, lowered the SC losses by 30% by creating the long-range scouting formation, and his "huge costs" come from the fact that he's, well, a military commander who's supposed to give deadly commands, and all soldiers under him were never forced to join the scouts and were warned about the risks. But even considering that, he always blamed himself for all the deaths, wished to go to hell for what he's done, and in the end just wanted for all those deaths to have meaning (just like Levi, who's arguably the most selfless character of all). He's not heartless or cruel, like some imagine him to be (in the aot world and in ours). Afterall, he was forced to be the devil, like Levi will later say.

I actually had a funny moment when it came to the revelation that Eren ate Grisha. Somehow I managed to process what had happened without looking at it as a big deal, because when someone asked me how Eren became a titan, I just casually mentioned that he ate his dad. Then when they asked when they showed it, I couldn't remember, outside of the flashback of Grisha about to inject Eren.

To me, the tittle "Reply" meant to point to the Council's answer to the whole ruse. Because of the way they react and the decision they make without a second thought, everybody simply realizes that they're probably better off folowing Erwin's proposal. As you say, the story even questions whether choosing Erwin's perspective is better or not. So, in this case, the council pretty much just fell into Erwin's game, reacting exactly as he was betting they would. Had they acted at least a little bit differently, maybe because they had an idea of how close they were to having the powers of the founder in their hands, things might have ended in their favor. So, that makes their "reply" the one that is decisive here. It's because of their response that all the other players take the stand they end up taking. At least that's how it felt to me watching the episode.

I figured he ate him, but that mainly came from the part where Hange was telling Eren about the tests they put his Titan form through. Specifically trying to communicate. They said that they believed Eren's Titan is incapable of speech, most likely because of it's jaw structure, but is capable of understanding and at least able to write. Hange also said that Eren's Titan began writing out something about his father however it also became illegible after a bit, and he seemed to sit there mourning for a bit. I don't remember the chapter, though, sorry. I can't even remember if it was before this stuff, but it definitely solidified my belief that Eren ate Grisha.

First watch, I thought Grisha was still out there somewhere, and that Eren’s Attack Titan was different from the other Shifters in that he was somehow the “first of his kind” and that Grisha, as a doctor/scientist, had somehow just figured out how to make a brand new shifter. To me, it would explain why his titan form didn’t seem to have any special powers like the Colossal, Armor, or Jaw,since he was basically like a prototype for a whole new breed of Titan shifters. I don’t even think the name “Attack Titan” had been dropped yet and the limit of there being 9 shifters hadn’t been revealed yet.

I was definitely in the Grisha escaped to safety and was just hiding camp. From just watching so many tv shows over the years, if an important character goes missing, odds are, they'll turn up alive at some point. Plus, when I first watched it, I just couldn't put together exactly when Eren became a Titan. There didn't seem to be any time. Suddenly he just wakes up with a key around his neck? When did that happen? And how come nobody noticed? And then Eren apparently just sits on his Titan powers for some five years? It didn't make sense to me. Overtime though, with multiple rewatches, and the help of videos such as these, it all makes sense now.

Overanalyzing the over-analysis: interesting how the first person to think of something special with specifically the royal blood is Levi, who is an Ackerman, who also has a special bloodline. Perhaps he subconsciously knew a lot more than he thought all along thanks to the titan stuff in his blood. Explains why every Ackerman we see seems to be way more chill about titans than a normal person. (Levi and Mikasa not flinching the first time they encounter pure titans. Kenny being so quick to be chill with Uri, the same way both Mikasa and Levi were surprisingly chill about Eren being a titan in the beginning. Kenny instinctively choosing not to use the syringe because on a subconscious level he knows it doesn't work for Ackermans anyway, etc) Haha, just kidding.... o.o
