A little more detailed look at what we are starting with on my Cutlass?? I have learned alot in the 15 years since I last worked on this thing, so some of the stuff needs to come back out and be redone before we can move forward!!
Do you need welding supplies or welding equipment?? Go to www.USAweld.com and use the discount code "WinWithKSR" at checkout for a 5% discount on your order!!

So happy to hear Kev has NO PLANS to chop the Olds up to go where he's planning to take it. He's going to keep the car's look and personality. After all it is his FIRST CAR and the look is a big pat of why he bought in the first place,, that AND the fact he could have the car for a mere $200. We're soo looking forward to this build Kevin. There's literally 100's of thousands of the 'G' body car's out there,, at least a few thousand are hotrods and at least a few hundred are on the drag strip making their owners smile :)

Kevin, I remember racing with you and Charlie Poindexter years ago in street sportsman. The Rollins boys were in the 11's with their novas and lea was running 12s in that white van. I had and still have my Ford Maverick. she has been sitting as long as your cutlass has! Let me say this, your cutlass is the only GM product I care to see run, I'm just a true blue Ford guy. I can't wait to see it run at Gainesville again. Some of the best times of my life were at that track. God bless you and your family man, look forward to seeing you at the track!! Alan

This is awesome. Love the history on a car that has been owned for decades. I still have my high school car and it sat 22 years, got it back out last year and it really cool to look at the work I did on it back when I had no clue what I was doing. Makes me miss those days a little.

I removed the drip rails off my Gbody. It too was a half vinyl top car. People will claim that removing the drip rails will remove strength from the roof. That’s completely false. The drip rails were a thing back in the 80s 90s due to the frameless door windows.
@eriklarson9137

I am confident Kevin knows more than those people. Lots of people say lots of things. PS. Drip rails have been around a teeny bit longer than the 80s. ;)

Golly Kev, you sure do have some work ahead of you. In addition to a leaky heater core....... big giant Moose cups( refillable cups that Hardes you to have back in the day ) of Coke will eat a hole right through a floor board. My buddy spilled the whole cup on the pass side of my nice clean 79 Camaro. We thought we cleaned it up pretty well. We didn't. Coke ate a nice clean hole right through the floor board. Super clean car, and here's a giant hole in the floor right where the spill was. You've seen and heard how corrosive Coke can be? Well...... it's true. Unfortunately I saw it first hand. I wonder what it does to our body?Think about that for a second. I love your videos Kevin. You explain things very well. Keep em coming.

I really love seeing old dogs brought back and made mean and fast again. I think with so many old race cars gathering dust in thousands of barns around the country bringing them out of the shadows and given a new life could be an exciting niche market in the go-fast world. I can't wait to how your old Olds turns out and see it run after so many years. Good luck and good on ya, man.

I would love to see you do a 403 olds motor, swap in some 455 heads and a 455 crankshaft with stock length rods. Basically makes a 427 and use aluminum heads, they have those now. Maybe a prochatger. But I built one just like that and in 1998 it was about 850 hp at the wheels. I miss that car and motor. But the car was an 85 Hurst olds. Alot of time and money back then. Destroyed in seconds. But the torque, the hp and the indestructible olds motor made one hell of a force to be reckoned with. But the heads I had I got from Dr. Olds before he died. Took 6 months to get them.

Take 1 down and place one back lol ! Rough Olds! But you & the team know how to make it light and fast. 380 small block isn't a slouch especially if you add 67 mm turbo with head studs with a chiller & cr of 9:5.1 / 10:5.1 turbo safe ratios unless you go e85 then you can get wild. We will see what you all come up with. Be safe all
