I "stumbled" upon Kundalini yoga several years ago. At the time, practice was held at the Sikh Ashram in Phoenix, which only added to the Divine energy I felt when I was there. I got pretty involved for a while. The Sikh community also opened the Ashram kitchen to the community for dinner twice a week. The whole experience was amazing. Then divorce happened and I started binge drinking heavily, which has gone on for about the last 20 years. I no longer want that existence. There's no connection to Source, no connection to Spirit. There are no synchronicities, no "random" coincidences that used to feed my knowing about who were are and why we're here. So I looked up that mantra I had sung hundreds of times before, and I got you! I will be watching your videos and starting my Kundalini practice again. Namaste.

Hello, Brett! Thank you for this wonderful video. I've practiced Vinyasa and Yin for a while and been interested in trying Kundalini. This was a great explanation of the beginning mantra, as I love when teachers explain it from an internal, physical point of view, as in how what we're doing is affecting the brain, the energy, rather than the tendency of explaining it in a "spiritual" way, which can be confusing and not relatable to all. Thank you, thank you. I love this.

Dear Brett, thank you for this explanation, it makes easier for me to chant (more or less) 😊I'm very interested in Kundalini but I decided to practice seriously only few weeks ago. I can't explain better than saying that Kundalini fascinated me but scared me at the same time. Nevertheless I "feel" that I had to practice, I don't know why. Maybe because I have changed myself so much during these years but, as you say in one of the translatation you do, maybe because I am more receptive; to creativity (I write novels), to change and so on. I don't want to annoy you so I ask you two questions: 1) Because for me Kundalini is still a tough practice I decided to start with few minutes, so I'd like to practice after my usual vinyasa yoga practice. But it's best before or after vinyasa? 2) I read about 10 signs of "kundalini awakening", and also that it has a positive aspect but also a negative one, is it true? Could you explain more about these "philosophical" aspects of Kundalini? Thank you very much! A big kiss from Italy 😘 Namastè! 🙏🙏🙏

So, do you have to sit on floor, cross-legged, or in Padmasana, Sukhasana? Or else, you can't do Kundalini Yoga? After years of desk job, and driving for transportatrion, and using the toilet seat instead of squat toilet, my legs don't bend for any of those asanas. The closest I can come is to use a rolled blanket or thick cushion to sit on and cross my legs in front of me. And what do I do with my slouching back, used to bending in front of the computer day in and day out for years. Now that I am retired, my apandages are programmed to not give in. I used to do PADMASANA, even SHEERSASANA (HEADSTAND) till I was 24, 25. About 50 years ago. Now I can't even stand on one leg to do SURYA NAMASKAR. Oh, but I can still stand and touch my toes, with very slight bend in the knees.

Yes girl - this is cultural appropriation. Ong Shabd is Sikhi. And Sikhi don’t do Kundlini Yoga. She is a building business on yogi Bhajan method that is nothing but scam. Thanks for pointing out. And how shamelessly she is endorsing it as Ong as Adi mantra. This is called White supremacy. They didn’t for centuries and wasn’t visible but now with social media at least few of us can see it. She is using both Hindus and Sikhs faith practices, altering her way, making money out of it, reusing the money to pay for ads, KZbin videos, social media and so her voice remains on top and ultimately this becomes reality. But I am sure sometimes gentle nudge is needed for people to wake up. And when they wake up, there will be revolution and people like her will find nothing to stand on.

Madam, there is no ONG in hindu language. It is just that your's people(Westerners) pronounce in that kinda way than to that of the Easterners. It might be due to kinda language barrier! Anyway if you believe, ONG then follow ONG for there is no way I can change your belief. But believe me there is no ONG as you have done in this video. Except that I've liked every bit of your videos explaining about namo guru dev namo !

ONG is from Gurmukhi (you can research it on Google), which is most often used in Kundalini yoga. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

@@BrettLarkinYoga Original scriptures are in Sanskrit and they suggest "om" or "aum". Maybe "ong" and "om" will have same effects but there is a big possiblity that "ong" is wrong as due to difference in English language and Sanskrit language. For example pronunciation of karma by English speakers is actually wrong. And correct pronunciation of "yoga" is "yog". Few other yoga teachers suggests "ong" but I feel better in chanting "om" than "ong" Found this on internet: " Everything in the universe is pulsating and vibrating - nothing is really standing still! The sound Om, when chanted, vibrates at the frequency of 432 Hz, which is the same vibrational frequency found throughout everything in nature. " You can see correct pronunciation of "om" on the internet.

Prayer pose with flared elbows out is not correct. Elbows should be relaxed down.

Sounds interesting but I just don’t get why/how saying “Ong” is going to stimulate parts of the brain.
@BrettLarkinYoga4 жыл бұрын
It's not so much saying it as it is singing it. The vibrations you create while chanting stimulate the certain parts of the brain.

Why is the kundalini spirit a snake ?

It is " Om Guru Devo Namaha" OM - not ONG DEVO - not DEV NAMAHA - not NAMO And whenever you talk about YOGA, you need to start with talking about it's origins.

It is 'OHM' not 'ONG'
@BrettLarkinYoga5 жыл бұрын
OM' and 'ONG' are two different words. 'ONG' is part of the Adi Mantra used to tune in for a kundalini class, as explained in the video. ONG is from Gurmukhi (you can research it on Google), which is most often used in Kundalini yoga. Thank you for watching!
