Hey Sifu ! Looks cool. I just started up with wing chun. I noticed we use butterfly knvies there aswell. But I dont really understand the purpose of the swords ? Why do we learn this. Cause we will most likely never use this outside or anywhere really. Is it just an art ? Thanks

Thank you for this video, I was looking for an instructional video on this weapon. I got some training butterfly swords. They are dull but they are heavy. Practicing continuous cuts, chops and stabs can be a good work out and strengthens the arms and hands.

Sifu - thanks for the video. One suggestion - you could need a sidekick for better demonstrating with a partner. But keep on with your great channel!
@SifuKuttel3 жыл бұрын
It's true, that is one thing lacking. Hopefully in the near future I'll have a sidekick to show applications on.

At first I have to say THANK YOU for sharing this wonderfully made video!! Well demonstrated, short and to the point explanations, easy to follow, made in a fun way to watch and want me to learn more. To put it short: an expert at work 🙇

Sifu Kuttel, usually ppl relate these weapons with wing chun I really like how you effectively use them. What kung fu styles do you use them with?

I've been thinking on buying that swords for training, how the material feels to it?
@SifuKuttel10 ай бұрын
I picked these up from wish.com, and they are pretty good overall. The only issue I had was that the guards were too thick to put the blades together like a single blade. I had to cut the inside guards and handles so they would fit flat together and now they are great. If you are looking for a good wooden set I would recommend Little Raven Studios www.little-raven.com/products/bot_jaam_list

I am wing chun fan boy, I always thought butterfly knives are wing chun but it makes sense wing chun guys would incorapte it to deal with styles, so how many styles have the butterfly knives
@SifuKuttel Жыл бұрын
I can't say for certain but I have seen them in: Wing Chun, Choy Li Fut, Hung Gar, Southern Praying Mantis, Hung Fut, Mok Gar, Bak Mei, and Hakka styles.

great video - where can I find examples of Choy Li Fut Butterfly Sword Forms?
@SifuKuttel3 жыл бұрын
Here's a couple: This is Grandmaster Doc-Fai Wong performing the Hung Sing Butterfly Knives Form for a documentary about different kung fu masters. It's at the Wah Lum Temple in Florida, if I'm not mistaken. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKfGfpukopasoZI This one is from the Fut San Hung Sing Kwoon when I visited in 2016: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGXGioiDpJqlb7s I have yet to film myself performing either of the two sets I know, but I am hoping to soon. There's still a few more videos like this on the way, then a short pattern for practice and then sometime after that I'll post a forms video of the set.

Actual your first premise is correct to make contact, but you established range and your connected in STRUCTURE! That does not allow forward action by opp👍🙏

Nice! Just know that there are going to be stylistic differences from the Choy Li Fut techniques I teach from Wing Chun, so hopefully you can be prepared and avoid any frustrations when you see Wing Chun techniques and principles that don't align with what I've taught.
