Thank you for putting so much detail into and covering my friend, lances life and wrestling career! Wrestled him a zillion times in Ohio Valley wrestling before both of us got called up. Me to smack down , him to raw. I don’t think it was just a coincidence that both of us became Painkiller addicts. I’m very fortunate now to be 17 years sober, but it kills me that my boy is no longer here with us. RIP brother. Love you.

What a tragic story. Shawn Michaels was a terrible mentor and cried to this boss about not being thanked after a match? Wow. To this day, I'm not a WWE fan. I'm a fan of some of the wrestlers but not the brand, the company. A man honestly seeks out help, you make him promises and then fire him. SMH !!

Thanks for this documentary. As a Shawn Michaels fan I’ve gotta say this left a bitter taste in my mouth about him. Seems like a leopard never really does change it’s spots. He’s got blood on his hands as far as I’m concerned. Because Lance was such a big strong guy it’s easy to forget that he was still such a young and probably naive kid who would have looked up to and trusted Michaels as his mentor/hero. Because he never shook Michaels hand after the match? Oh cmon give me a break. There could have been a number of reasons why he didn’t or forgot to on that occasion. And Michaels whose supposed to be this reborn, all forgiving, mature man in his 40’s at this time has sulked and stabbed this young kid in the back because he didn’t follow tradition. Tradition when it suits. HBK is a guy who is known for saying suck it to tradition. Always thought Lance was a really good wrestler with huge potential and its a shame we never got to see it. Taken way too young. RIP Lance

How absurd is it to consider that Lance got fired for his overdose and then got let go after going to rehab and passing drug tests while HBK was paid under his contract for three years despite being “retired” for the time and is well known to have been super pilled up the whole time? Was even kicked out of shows because he was pilled up and unable to perform. Such a shame to see how these things went and the transparent fact that the company doesn’t give a shit about anybody’s health to any extent outside of what’s good for PR.

The addiction that These guys manage is beyond extreme. The amount of drugs that they consume on a daily basis is insane. I was in rehab with a well known wrestler. I've been around the block afew times and I've herd some things in them rooms but hearing this guy telling his story was just a mind blowing experience in itself. The tolerance they have is just unreal and its a common thing with alot of athletes who play at the top level. In order to continue to preform like they do its also necessary
@loveandnapalm
@loveandnapalm Жыл бұрын
I think thats more a side effect of them having good jobs and being able to afford lots of drugs than anything. I've also spent plenty of time in the rooms and clinics and all the heroic tolerances I've known had one thing in common - they either had a big steady paycheck or a pile of money from a settlement or inheritance. I know personally the limiting factor in my own tolerance was never self discipline or really anything except income... if I'd been making 500k a year I'm sure I would have done just as much as Lance or Angle or any other wrestler.
@nickmcnasby5448
@nickmcnasby5448 Жыл бұрын
@tee jay considering it cost money to buy the drugs having a large amount definitely can make your tolerance for whatever poison you pick extremely high but with athletes alot of them come into the sport never touching any type of narcotic but with the sport they play its a common thing that injuries are something that comes with contact sports and when you play at the top level and you blow your knee out your not sitting out the game. Your getting a shot from the doctor and going back out there to continue playing and this goes for majority of injuries that athletes receive out there but They don't to jump through hoops in order to get drugs. Whatever they need it's already there for them and with time this type of environment creates a monster

I've been saying it for years. Deep down, Vince has NEVER really cared for the mental/physical well being of almost ANY of the wrestlers who worked under him, with the exception of a few main eventers here and there that made him and the company boat loads of cash. When WWE was in damage control mode during the Chris Benoit scandal, he immediately pushed the blame on Benoit only, and blatantly lied and denied that any of his wrestlers were abusing steroids and PED's at the time when he knew the truth.

It's common etiquette to thank veterans, behind the curtain, after a match. Especially someone as big as Shawn was, who also trained and pushed you in the company. Plus, gave you a big rub by taking the fall. The issue was that Cade left the venue without thanking him. And apparently didn't bother to thank him between the pinfall win and singles match. For someone as passionate as Cade seemed to be, that's inexcusable. Like it or not, that's been a hallmark of the wrestling business for decades.

Which baffles me that people don't understand why some of us shame the WWE over this. Yes, WWE didnt give him the pills. They blatantly told him he needs to be stronger when Lance was in the best shape with an amazing body. That contributed to his addiction because he wanted to prove he can be the best, while WWE let him go during his addiction. How is it hard to understand why WWE is partly to blame but not fully blamed

looked like WWE covered their end, to avoid Lance being a “liability” to the company which is BULLSH*T. The company should’ve did more to get him help.

Everyone talks about the difference between wrestling then & now. I may not enjoy today's modern wrestling like i do wrestling from Ruthless Aggression Era in 2004-2009 but one thing i can say about today's wrestlers is that they ACTUALLY WORK OUT to change their physical looks for their potential in wrestling. Wrestlers back then did mad steroids to satisfy the company in order to get to the top & its a shame cause WWE pretended to not tolerate or condone substance abuse yet all along they were telling wrestlers to do steroids. Lance's dad didn't tell NOT ONE LIE all they cared about was money so it made sense they contradicted & violated their own wellness policy. Wrestlers today wouldn't dare violate the policies it seems like since they grew up on previous eras of wrestling seeing or hearing about the wrestlers ruining their lives for the benefit of WWE they don't wanna go down that same road as a learning lesson 🤷‍♀️

Shame on WWE the entire McMahon family, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H, for kicking this man while he was down. Their day of judgement is not too far away

His dad is mad and rightfully so, but at the same time choices were made. Lance maybe shouldn't of been released, but he at the end of the day WWE didn't shove pills down his throat. Before someone says the obvious I'd say the same thing if it was TNA or any other wrestling company. It sucks that Lance passed away at a young age though.

No they didn't shove pills down his gullet , instead they fostered a culture of bury it or lose your spot , what else do you expect them to do?
