The adapter only supports HDMI 2.0 and not 2.1 thus capping the PS5 at 60 hz. Once I removed the adapter I was able to achieve 4k 120hz. I wish they'd speak more on this in all of the KZbin reviews on this product

Not sure if you have updated on this video, but you have set it up wrong. Once installed, change the Output to Chat only. Then in Sound set it to either Astro if it shows, if not change it to HDMI, then change TV to Amplifier, This will disable Sony 3D BUT it will unlock the Dolby Surround features and you can choose between 5.1 and 7.1, im running 7.1 as I found it to sound better, hope this helps (if you havent figured this out already :) )

Hey, at 6:30 you say that the jack port allows you to hear the audio on the pc, could you explain how and demonstrate how it work since I haven’t figured it out. Also, If you connect the Astro with usb and select all audio you are still able to hear all the audio and 3D audio without the optical cable connected; if you select chat only the you would be utilising the audio from the optical cable and also be able to adjust game chat and voice chat and also use the EQ.

So I heard on the Astro a50 in the base station there’s a micro usb and plugging that into the station and into a PlayStation 5 will give surround sound instead of using a optical cable. Is this true?

It’s possible to just use the base station with a micro usb connected to the ps5 with an update but the sound is not that great . What I found to be better is to run the usb to the ps5 and on the back of your monitor or tv and use the optical out to the base station within the ps5 setting set audio out to hdmi and mic to usb giving you a better sound

It will give you Sonys 3D Audio but no Dolby Surround which I find much better atm than Sonys 3D Audio

You say that you lost your 3D audio, but I'm not sure if you have your PS5 sound settings as they should be (it defaults to stereo/2.0 channels, when you need 5 and above). Astro have a video on the correct way to set up the PS5 for the A50s with the adaptor. I had to do something similar with my A40s. (Astro don't really help you with their documentation, sadly) I know this is an old vid, but hopefully it'll help fix your issues.

I need one of these, but to use with my soundbar. On PS4, to use Bitstream Dolby without audio delay from my soundbar I had to run an optical cable from the PS4 directly to the soundbar. Obviously that's not an option on PS5, so I'm currently dealing with audio delay. This device might solve that issue.

@@CincoQuallity the device itself is rated for HDMI 2.0b so I’m assuming the cable it comes with is as well. Just keep in mind if you’re connected to a 4K 120hz display, this device will downgrade you to 4K 60hz. BTW, never go by the gimmick names for HDMI cables. Look for the version number specifically to insure the bandwidth. So many sellers don’t even know what they have (HDMI 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0b & 2.1) so be cautious not to overpay for the wrong one. As for your idea regarding your sound bar question, on paper this should work for you. Not sure what kind of a soundbar setup you have (stereo w/ sub or 5.1). Gonna assume if you set up the PS5 to output bitstream audio, you’ll be covered for surround. If you’re just needing stereo, PCM might sound better(uncompressed). I might pick one up just to test it out and possibly make a video of all its abilities since no one on KZbin with the proper knowledge have done this yet

@@wolfgangpuff7030 I appreciate the response/info. Yeah, my TV is 4K/60hz so I wouldn't have an issue in that regard. I have read that this particular device can get uncomfortably warm, which is hardly ideal. Since it's a pretty straightforward piece of tech with several alternatives available, I'm going to look around a bit more before making a purchase. I'd likely be doing that anyway.

@@CincoQuallity I picked one up to see if I could get audio out of the optic output when connected to a 5.1 receiver. After tons of trouble shooting, I couldn’t get it to work. I assumed it might have been damaged during shipping. After exchanging it at the store and trying again, I still couldn’t get any sound out of the optic output. After unplugging and replugging the usb cable while the PS5 was running, I was able to finally get sound. Unfortunately it wasn’t consistent and the sound kept cutting in and out. The quality of what was coming through was also horrible compared to the sound from my display’s optic output. I’m very disappointed by the quality of this product. The fact that both items I tested had non matching parts or serial numbers was also odd. Bestbuy has 2 different skus for this as well at the moment. I wonder if there was 2nd revision that was shipped since the first lot that may have QC issues. Regardless of the reason, I wouldn’t recommend this product.

What’s up Profeta! Hey I heard this uses hdmi 2.0 pass through so if you use this adapter you are losing video quality. So you bought a new ps5, you bought a new LG oled and you hook this up and gimp your set up visually. Is this true? Do you lose video quality with this device? Also, if you don’t stream could you just hook up the optical cable to your tv and have your sound working 100% without losing any of your video quality? Tnx Profeta!

Connecting to the TV optical is a fix around the issues and there a video that I've seen this method work. But you need to change to linear audio

It can handle 4K 60hz with HDR, but not 4K 120hz. It only supports up to HDMI 2.0b. I do agree it’s garbage since it doesn’t extract a usable optic signal.
