This is a perfect example of why the death penalty should be in play. You can’t do what he did and then make a circus out of the justice system. He knows he will be no worse off for making a mockery of the justice system if something worse than life in prison isn’t on the table so he has every incentive to do what he is doing. Delay, disrupt, etc…

@@cowkane4945 I wish I did, but my experiences have been in-person. I've seen it mostly in traffic court (which isn't video recorded) because it's often more simplistic. Really depends on the judge. For complex (criminal and civil) proceedings that take up far more time, I haven't seen it as much. Usually those cases drag out and therefore wind up being closer to "trying to avoid mistrial." More often than not (in my experience), self-repping backfires even if you've been respectful.

I was a little put off, at first, as to why the judge would be tolerating his constant infantile disrespectful behavior, then I realized she was being as thorough as possible to not leave the door open for appeal, or mistrial or something bogus that worthless POS would try pull.

She played along with his way of disrupting the system because she tried to deal with him like the average citizen but his personality is a special case. She should've followed through with her demands so he couldn't disrespect the victims anymore. I don't agree with the view that she was able to endure all of the theatrics to avoid any future appeals. She was in full right to do something MANY times.

I'm actually for more defendant control of courtrooms as I think it would reduce crime. This court case is a perfect example. Darrell Brooks shouldn't even be on trial. He's got other court cases pending that he should prepare for. In the legal world this is known as a document or criminal complaint dump. It's designed to keep the defense so busy that they just resign themselves or are severely unprepared. Brooks is actually not doing a bad job. He's discrediting witnesses as well as evidence. Remember, all he needs to do is put doubt in the mind of one juror and I think he has.

I agree for sure. MOST people say she is doing the right thing and that he is acting the way he is to make her do something so he can get a mistrial. He is not smart enough for that and cannot think that through. It is just at the way he is. A mistrial will not do him any good anyway, it will just prolong his going to prison instead of getting let out of the jail cell everyday. I recently saw the entire cross examination of Erica his ex , it’s ridiculous that he being her abuser was allowed to cross examine her, he did everything to push her buttons

Had to work with a dude like this once in armed security. Turned out later he was skipping out on child support payments and thus fired. However, had to work around him for a couple years in addition to accusations against me, so this has been quite therapeutic on some level.
