Generally the strength of a console vs say a PC, is because it’s as simple and easy as possible. So preferably having one mode that is a good balance, is better than multiple modes with different strengths. However I think simple perf/graphics toggles that are setup well, are easy enough for people to understand and not have to fiddle with things, but also gives users good choice. Too many options is bad, but I think it can be done elegantly, and maybe Nintendo forcing this toggle could help that be more standard. The implication that it’s only in portable mode tho, does have me a bit concerned, but I’ll have to see the full implementation before I can say fs.

What it sounds to me, it's something very similar to the 3DS. If you remember the 3DS had a Power-saving mode where if activate it the colors of the screen go in a mode where it has less fidelity and less sharp. It's just to save battery.

I always watch what Nintendo does , They bring the innovations. Graphics Profiles per game made by the user is a great idea.

I prefer to play my games in handheld mode, but once in a while, I’ll play certain games on docked mode like Zelda or Xenoblade.

Andres, i think there will be options in game regardless of in system option. That comes down to the devs. It will likely be more like the battery mode for handheld mode will be the base version developer's optimize, but ryou can still chose to boost the portable mode

If this is true it's very smart. I've been using a Steam Deck since it released and having the option to lower the TDP and power down the system allows me to play retro looking games for 7+ hours and the games still look and run great. The Steam Deck allows you to change the option with an overlay menu without even closing the game. If done that way, it would be seemless and smart. Big if though.

Sounds like Nintendo making it as easy as possible for the user to just have a setting for your profile so think they will have it similar in docked mode to prioritize like graphics over framerate or something like that.

I think it would be pretty neat. They could put this in the power overlay when you hold the home button. Rocket League already has options for performance/graphics modes, are they an exception? Is it that developers can't be bothered to make both modes for handheld and docked, or does Nintendo have a say in third parties implementing it?

This, seriously. Nintendo’s never been about top notch graphics. But next gen 1st party games _really_ need to get back to 60fps. Most recent games on Switch are either struggling or just capped at 30fps (ttyd, echoes, brothership…)

More options to the consumer is generally not a good thing. PC has the most options for consumers. Mac has fewer options. And Mac is more stable and easier to use. (Probably a bad example since Mac is a terrible gaming platform.)

I think the whole point about the social circles and leakers is a valid point because i think it all started with the midori situation. People are choosing to not believe leaks based on who people are because of the fact that literally someone had a shady history, rebranded and then proceeded to lie about their nationality and gender so i dont really blame people for choosing to judge who the leakers are over their sources and discussed info. Think of it like this people are choosing ethics of a situation and a person rather than news and after midori i dont blame them one bit.
