LOVE THE VIDEO! Thank you for the information. I have 2 questions. If the 880 series has a 1 piece seemless cabinet, how is it accessed for service, is there an access door? Also is the excess heat from the filter pump transferred to the water to save on electric by not running the heaters as much?

Anthony Salducco All motors for hot tubs will transfer some heat down the shaft into the water due to friction. However, you don’t want your motor to overheat as this will significantly damage the longevity of the motor. It’s important to make sure that the motor in your hot tub can breathe. There are some old systems that used a special wet end to transfer the heat from the motor into the water. They where actually using this instead of a heater. This wasn’t an efficient way to heat the spa so they no longer use this method. I would focus more on insulation as that’s really what’s going to hold the heat in and keep your electrical bill down

Not sure yet what Hot Tub I will be purchasing? But Sundance has moved up real fast on my research priority list. I have to say that after watching a ton of videos about hot tubs, this guy is the most consistent and thorough knowledgeable person representing this brand. If it really a brand to consider as I am now reconsidering now in having a 220 volt connection installed, even though I live in South Florida, some of these models may only work with that type of electrical connection. I like so many of these aspects, (UV bulb & Fluid X jetting system, tub construction with self supporting hull, and friendly access to parts). Awesome video . Takes it to the next level.

Good afternoon, you’re looking at two great brands! My biggest suggestion would be to wet test both. This will give you a good feel of the different jetting systems. Also, I would make sure to sit in the particular series that your potential model your buying falls into dry. The hot doesn’t get any more comfortable with water in it! You’re going to get the most leg and foot room from a non-lounge model. The lounge in the hot tub takes a lot space in the foot well. Good luck!Hope this helps!

@@scubatom8232 Good morning, if jets aren’t important to you than you might want to look into a lower series. If your more focused on longevity, you can go down in series within those brands. I would consider 24hr circulation which we have some videos on. This can be important to maintenance and not all series within those brands will have it. Hope this helps!

Good morning, the automatic oxidizer you see under the Splash series hot tubs is just a fancy way of saying it has an ozone system. However, the ozone system is only working when water is pushed through a venturi creating a suction. Splash series tubs don’t have 24 hour circulation so only when your in a filter cycle will you create ozone. Thanks and hope this helps!

Hey Brian... I noticed that the Kingston 980 model comes with 3 pumps instead of 2 which means if you have all 3 pumps on, you can't use the heater at the same time. How much of an issue do you see this being? If you have 4-5 people in the tub, you're likely to want to have all the pumps on at the same time but then start seeing the temperature decline.
@atlantahottubcenter
@atlantahottubcenter 3 жыл бұрын
Good evening, thanks for watching. A few things to consider, starting with insulation value. You would have to do the math which is the area of the insulated area times temperature difference divided by heat loss equals R value. The lowest I have seen after doing the math and research is full foam insulated system. This insulation also doesn’t really lose its R value over time unlike a lot of other insulations. This insulation retains 98% to 99% of its R value. Sundance and a select few other hot tub manufacturers and brands use this insulation method as well. What this means for you is the hot tub is really retaining heat which is very important in this scenario and quite frankly in general Second thing to consider, is the fact that the hot tub has three jet pumps that are all giving off some form of heat due to the friction the motor is giving off when running - this can help to keep the temperature up. Now, this isn’t going to make a great deal of difference but it does help. Lastly, I haven’t had any complaints here in Georgia. However, if you’re in a state with a colder climate you might want to consider the R value. I would also mention that if you live in a state with colder climates you can always set the temperature a couple degrees warmer before you use it to keep yourself comfortable during use as it declines slightly in temperature. Hope this helps!

If you had to choose between the Optima 880 or Kingston 980, which would you choose and why? Really struggling between these two rubs.
@atlantahottubcenter
@atlantahottubcenter 3 жыл бұрын
There’s really only three key differences between the 880 series and 980 series. First, the low profile which makes it easy to get in and out. Second, the sun deck. The sun deck is a place to get out and sit on to cool off yet it’s still part of the hot tub and experience. Third, the self draining coolers which are located under the sun deck. You’re paying a premium for these key features. If these features don’t interest you I personally wouldn’t spring for the extra cash. Most Important, sit in both of these series dry. They sit very different. The 980 series sits a little more straight up. The hot tub won’t get any more comfortable with water in it. Hope this helps

Thank you for all the great information Brian. I am trying to decide between the Montclair and the Chelsee in the 780 series. Our dealer here in Illinois does not have either filled for a wet test. We are a family of 3 and could get by with the smaller montclair but there is only a $725 price difference between the two. I do a lot of road cycling and waterskiing. Very active 61 year old. Which one would you recommend as far as powerful massaging for legs and lower back. Thank you.
@atlantahottubcenter
@atlantahottubcenter 3 жыл бұрын
Good afternoon, they’re both great choices. Does your dealer have them both on the floor dry without water? I would sit in them both dry. They won’t get any more comfortable with water in them. I would also take your height into consideration. The Chelsee does sit lower than the Montclair. I would also consider whether or not you want a lounge. The lounge takes up space but offers extra leg jetting. On the other hand the Chelsee offers the foot dome so everyone sitting in the hot tub gets a foot massage. The foot dome also gives everyone a place to put their feet. This avoids everyone playing footsie. Either way I’m sure you’ll be happy. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps!

@atlantahottubcenter

Good afternoon, I think there’s some confusion here. Sundance, Jacuzzi, ThermoSpas, Dimension One, Swim Life, HydroPool, and other brands are all owned by Investindustrial. Nottingham-Spark is an innovation firm and also owns a percentage of the umbrella. The umbrella is quite large. All of these hot tub brands under the umbrella are very different and serve different purposes. I would urge you to look at many brands before making a decision on what’s best for you and your family. If you think ThermoSpas serves the purpose of why your buying a hot tub, then enjoy! Keep in mind that the rocket scientist did NOT develop the horizontal filter system. Looks like the 880 series ALSO has a cooler with ICE in it, right?
@atlantahottubcenter
@atlantahottubcenter Жыл бұрын
Good afternoon, The Sundance engineering team utilized their expertise to create a horizontal filtration system for their hot tubs. The Fluidix jetting was outsourced to provide lifetime jets without any moving parts. They aimed to ensure longevity and hydrotherapeutic benefits for their customers. It's a common problem for hot tub owners to replace their jets everyone 5 years or so, but Sundance has solved this inconvenience. On top of that, their 880 series boasts an ice tray, cupholder, and a seat all in one, while the 980 series offers coolers. This additional convenience is sure to elevate the hot tub experience. Hope this helps!

Good evening, it’s not the mark-up from your dealer for the most part. All dealers are different of course but pricing is still regulated some by the manufacturers. Well built hot tubs are expensive from the factory due to materials and craftsmanship. You can always check out certified pre-owned. This is a great bang for the buck. I would suggest this option depending on what you value. You’re right though, they can get expensive especially when you get to self supporting shell hot tubs. Hope this helps!.

Hi Brain, I purchased a new Sundance Edison in April 2022. We live in NC and this summer was warmer then most and temperatures on tub got to 105 to 106 when temp was set to 98. I contacted my dealer I purchased from and after multiple conversations and pictures of issues they replaced thermostat because it was not reading water correct temp. Water was 105 and lights would blink red until I left cover off for a while and run pumps. After replacing thermostat water temp were matching tub reading. I had a hot tub in upstate NY for more then 15 years and have only had 1 to 2 degree difference when outside temp would be 90 +. Know temp. Match hot tub raises 4 to 5 degrees and makes it hard to adjust temp to use tub. Dealer told me to prop tub cover open and it was the pumps causing the heat transfer. I am mechanical and I do not believe this is the cause and they said that's all they could do because that's what Sundance has told them. If there is any help you can give to make this tub work better it would be greatly appreciated. Plase contact me with any guestion to help me or is there any contact no. for Sundance I can call to help me figure this out. I know there are hot tubs all over the state with warmer temp. then NC and I can't believe they can not use their hot tubs all summer. Thank you in advance for any help you can give, Dan
