I met Lee Haney when I was 19 years old in 1990 when he was training Evander Holyfield in Houston TX. I had just competed in the Lee Labrada bodybuilding contest in Galveston TX as teenager my first bodybuilding contest, I was working at the Grocery store in Houston TX Lee Haney came in there and I freaked out I ran up to him we talked he was so nice he gave me his autograph I still have it in my home gym. Lee Haney is a true gentleman God bless him.

I’ve followed you Mike for several years now and gotta say, I rarely ever see you starstruck or in awe of anyone else but you looked like the same excited 14 year old boy I bet you were upon first learning about Lee Haney lol. It was fun to watch you being so moved by this wonderful man. Like you said, Lee has been the best example both inside and outside the sport of bodybuilding and everyone respects him. Take care and I’ll be watching every interview you grace us with. Thank you and Lee you’re awesome brother!

What a refreshing interview with one of the greatest athletes of any sport of all times. Met him when he came to Perth Western Australia back in 1987 for a seminar / exhibition , true to what he is saying, Lee is an absolute gentleman with his time and being patient with this sixteen year old kid is a memory I cherish to this day. His kind words of encouragement set in motion a life style that I follow to this day, Clean eating regular training serving others. Thank you Lee. ........ rest assured I looked him in the eyes the entire time he was talking to me.

It’s just because of numbers; not as many people from the 80’s are still around or involved in bodybuilding except the og’s , Ronnie built this mythology of himself through social media , and his generation of fans are heavily involved in social media platforms and former competitors, but Lee in my opinion was way ahead of his time, and retired at 31 years old

I want to know if adding muscle mass improves ur hormones and able to focus better in the rest of ur life. Question for me is, is it more muscle on the frame or the intense workouts that cause the better hormones? I really noticed as back squat got heavier my anxiety and reactiveness in daily situations went way down. Was it being strong? More muscle? The workputs? The placebo effect of confidence boost of being stronger than most even if was or not.

Ronnie was best ever & that cannot be disputed. Lee is second best ever. Arnold is third best ever & did more for body building then any other Mr. Olympia due to his fame in so many areas of life. Ronnie looked like a guy from another planet & Ronnie was strongest Mr. Olympia ever as Ronnie worked out w/ most weight. Ronnie is the one & only KING of body building but he is paying the price big time. If Lee tried to workout like Ronnie did Lee would be having same severe health issues as Ronnie.
