I have always loved enhancement shammy and will always play one. My frost DK is probably on par with my shammy for fun in WoD so I am happy that both are looking good. I tend to play prot warrior and prot pally as I just never seem to click with fury (or arms) or with ret and find them a bit laborious. I am also going to persevere with my feral druid even though it was a little disappointing in WoD. I'll still wait until after the first round of major patches before deciding whether to buy Legion though. The content (or lack thereof) for casual players has me concerned.

I'm having the same problem. I have played Shaman since I started the game back in WoTLK, I have enjoyed monk a lot in Pandaria and WoD, Dk's have never been my cup of tea, but they look so damn fun now. I'm really torn.

I love WoD and MoP ret paladin. While I did enjoy Wrath ret I don't think I'd count either of these variants as "worse to play." Legion on the other hand I dislike ret immensely.

I think the main problem with Ret is that the talents just don't bring a lot of gameplay. The only thing that really shakes things up and requires consideration as to when to use it is Crusade.

Weerknuffelbeer true but with some of the new changes you can now figure out "hmmm should i use zeal or greater judgement for aoe" plus you can choose either justicars vengeance a heavy hitting ability that also serves as a heal along with a great way to buff crusade stacks or a new mitigation or an aoe heal (personally i build to 5 hp then crusade in justicars then ashes into justicar for a ton of stacks quickly add that to the crusader strike talent you get really fast hits making you think "hmmm is zeal now better than judgement or would that still be better because i have 5 targets?" you can also pull a boss then have divine intervention proc into holy wrath or you can go full crit build and use the blade of wrath talent

Tyler Willson I don't really care if they top damage. If they do then that's great as we've never seen ret paladin up there with other top dps classes like mage and locks. I'd rather a fluid, fun spec rather than boring talents and skills that just don't feel as fun but top dps. Honestly, if i wanted to play arms warrior, i would've rolled an arms warrior.

Wholeheartedly agree with the Death Knight. its stupid how FUN it is. Not even good, just FUUUUUUUN! Inside a single spec like unholy, there's 2 main ways of playing it and then 3-5 tweaks that still change it, all of which work and are great. From affliction warrior in pvp to bursty setup in pve, there's just so much depth. And as said, if unholy gets outperformed by frost on mythic raiding (which i kinda suspect it will) its fine, cause frost is SO FUN too, in a different really meaty satisfying way. Frost atm is the definition of BIG DICK DPS, you go just mad seeing the carnage you leave behind.

For frost to be better than unholy it would have to come down to breath of sindragosa or the artifact ability being stupidly powerful. Removing Killing Machine for Frost strike means an over reliance on physical damage which is pretty bad compared to the old one which was also overshadowed by Unholy. It looks to be a trash killer for now with remorseless winter and classic howling blast spam.

+Glen Tipton I didn't even consider PvP. Of course I would probably still prefer Frost for PvP but late game scaling with Mastery changes how PvE works in terms of Physical damage so Frost is at a disadvantage unless the CDs are ridiculous.

I have had a hard time figuring out what I want to play in Legion, as I haven't really been hardcore into WoW since my heyday of TBC/Wrath/Cata and only casually during MoP/WoD with very long breaks during these two. Not to mention the feeling of repetition and staleness of ever increasing class homogenization over the past few years that has put me off. It's good to know now that my old DK raiding main during Wrath/Cata is going to be dusted off and put back into the fray thanks to your video. The new spells and gameplay look fucktastic!

Don't forget Survival =) I remember in Vanilla where a properly geared and speccd Survival hunter could wreck you with Mongoose bite. Still was ranged but that was the whole point of hunters and why they had a range penalty to using the bow/gun, that was having a melee alternative for brief close quarters combat, then get out and range again. Now since they made them so mobile, removed range requirements, it seems odd to make a pure melee hunter without any hunter aspects, like say reliance on traps and melee, a specialty in hunting knives/daggers etc.

He made the statements that many classes have changed during Alpha and Beta updates which moved some classes up and down the list based on things being reworked so much it has changed his liking one or another, either they broke something that was good and viable or they added or changed a class and made it better. I agree with a good portion of your opinions, but you are WAY off on the Outlaw Rogue. Since you mainly raid and don't PVP, I can maybe understand where you're coming from, but you clearly did not get enough time or practice in with the Outlaw to appreciate it. Some of the coolest looking new attacks, the combos, the speed, the Dreadblade artifact weapons, the theme and the utility, all combine to be by far the most fun and interesting spec in the game. People that complain about damage forget that we're still in beta and numbers can easily change. In battlegrounds and arenas though, it's a thrilling beast of a spec, and you really need to give it a second glance.

Testing it, the functionality worked well enough, but the rotation was bland and the mongoose bite mechanic was.. alright? Outlaw may be fun in PVP but it sucks if you're a serious arena player. Roll the bones is too RNG it can make or ruin the arena for you. If you pick up slice and dice instead, you have no potential burst. The only decent rogue spec I have found in arena is assassination. But that may just be me. There's no doubt rogue is going to be strong in PVP. As for this videos his issues with the rogue seem to be he doesn't get it or it doesn't fit. That has no bearings on if the rogue is actually good in pve.

From all the testing I've done in pvp beta and all the number crunching I've seen, Sub is going to dominate arena for the rogue class. However, in Battlegrounds, the teamwork traits and talents that Outlaw boasts have made them top or near top damage in Many instances.

And like Preach with his dk, even if elemental becomes more effective than enhancement I will happily play it instead. The sound effects are just so good. Furious Slash is the worst ability I've ever seen. I NEVER use it. I would much rather use Whirlwind. Furious Slash does less damage than Whirlwind, and even if you use it like 3 times (which is 3 wasted attacks basically), it still might not cause your Bloodthirst to crit. Of course Blizzard decided that for pvp, to make warriors use furious slash, they made it so we have basically no crit chance at all. This ruins the fury warrior entirely as a pvp spec. Luckily there is a pvp talent which can be used for fury. Though they need to enrage once for it to work at all. Really, if they want it to be used, they just need to make it do more damage than whirlwind, and perhaps they should make it increase the crit chance of all attacks

Fury was deleted as a PVP option the moment they added the 30% (20% if talented) additional damage while enraged. Meanwhile arms is getting access to much more flexible and controllable sources of both pressure and burst with talents like Focused Raged and MortalCombo while still having defensive stance.

All you have to do is BT>RB>FS>BT>RB>FS and throw in Rampage when you have enough rage or it procs. If you have a single target. The increased chance of crit is much more of a payoff long term than a whirlwind on less than 3 enemies.

People fail to realize this is his opinion, what he finds fun you might not, idealizing and basing an entire "well since preach hates x class, i'm not going to play it". I'm rerolling back to rogue just for legion, just because I LOVE the idea of having a melee class you have to micromanage dots with for maximum DPS. It's on his shit list, but at the moment, mut rogues are one of, if not the highest damage dealing classes in the game, and they might not even be fully optimized when doing so. I get you're on vacation preach, and I have literally nothing against ya, just wanted to let these guys know "what's bad for me" doesn't mean they'll hate it too. >.>

Something he hated with the rogue was that it was a nightmare beeing pure dps, so imo it will be down to what he thinks of the rest of them, as in mistweaver and brew(we know he loved mistweaver) resto shaman(don't think he has made a vid on it yet, we know he loves ele) and blood, which he mentioned was one of the better ones, but still things like shadow priest etc

About feral: The way the spec plays actually comes pretty close to how an actual great cat hunts. They patiently wait for the right moment, then pounce in a short explosion of furry fury. However, they also tire pretty quickly which explains why the spec is generally pretty slow and methodical with short spammy periods during the opener, tigers' fury and berserk/ incarnation. Anyhow, I also really like the DK. Both specs have a really satisfying flow to them. It's fast without being GCD locked, it looks a lot better with the new melee animations and it rewards using your resources wisely, and it gives you the flexibility to switch between them as needed. And it just feels awesome to get a 35 second Breath of Sindragosa off in 680 template gear already :P Pity I can't try Apocalypse on the PTR already, seems like such a cool ability. DK also gives me a tank offspec for when it's needed (not a tank main but I'm no stranger to it either) so that's good as well. I'm just concerned about their lack of mobility given that I've always been a feral main except for Warlords (fury warrior which are also pretty mobile) and I've learned to rely on that to get out of shit or stick to people during PvP.

Sorry Preach but the WoD Ret Paladin is quite literally complete garbage and the changes now are much better. Also people abandoning specs because of prepatch balance and early beta balance is hilarious. what's interesting is WoD ret is very rng on procs and I thought preach hated rng, legion is very much use abilities to charge up holy power and then use your big fuck off spenders, It's not restricted by too much rng proccing and I find it quite fun. A lot of classes work the same he likes ww monk but it's the same as ret pally. I just don't get his analysis. This video is super negative and it really doesn't help when it's meant to be a comparison between the classes not between what's bad about all the classes.

Agreed. I think its much better to reset the base of Ret AWAY from Set Bonuses and RNG Proc Priority. It's a good start IMHO.

This video is extremely accurate. Having been someone who also clocked hundreds on hundreds of hours on legion testing specs for dps, i could not agree more. some specs i had special emotional attachments to their success (survival, arms/fury, outlaw), i fell in love with enh, monk, and frost/unholy. Ended up ultimately spending way more time then i ever expected on frost. Spot on over all. Exactly my opinion. Well don Preacher

This is what I love about Preach. He gives his opinion and justifies it with rationale and personal perspectives. Loving or hating things is always personal and never fact (tho the internet would have you think otherwise). I love that Preach can back it up with specific, critical, and constructive criticism based on his mindset. Well done, Sir. I started levelling a DK just before the pre-patch, its level 90 now and I absolutely love the changes. I was horrified when I first logged in and was like...I have 2 spells but its so fun. The animations and sound effects feel amazing and the spells and rotations feel so good. Im gonna be maining my DK most likely during Legion instead of my boomkin. 11/10 Blizz.

Question for those in the Beta: how much of your class do you actually use in Legion? How much variety is there in what you do based on what's going on in the fight? In other words, how much is just doing your rotation (be it single target or AoE) and how much do you actually use your utility abilities, like stuns, interrupts, CC, etc? Do you get a lot of opportunities to make the most of your class, or does it mostly boil down to how well you can DPS?

I remember when i first started playing unholy DK on the beta, i read through the castigator talent and thought it was boring. God i was wrong, it's so good since each component of scourge strike can crit individually, so it can pop up to 3 wounds at once. Really made festering wounds an interesting mechanic for me.

I completely agree with frost DK. When I started in the beta I was only playing classes I didn't think I would touch for awhile if at all. So I fired up a DK and quickly started thinking I might just be switching my main class. It is great can't wait to see it on live.

Glad to see that I made good choices for a main spec. I've been testing my monk or shaman for the past month or so to see if I want to main one of them for the next expansion, might even level up my DK (haven't touched him since I maxed him last expansion)and test him out before I make my final decision for my new main. As a WW Monk main since it's arrival in World of Warcraft, I am so damn happy about the changes. We feel so fluent and much more cool to play with the new animations and all. Sure, I do miss the stun on my FoF, and how the old Storm, Earth and Fire worked, but all in all? This is great.

I do agree with this list on all spots except the Survival Hunter, which I would probably place in the middle tier. Sure it has some elements from different specs but the abilities you have and the talents they've got are actually interesting. Way of the Mok'Nathal affects you rotation by a lot, the visuals are fitting for what the fantasy is (nothing superfancyfelmagicstuff is needed here, just look at the Class Order Hall - its beautiful) and the spec flows quite nicely. By flowing quite nicely is that you have a goal that you always try to achieve: Get huge damage from MB windows, it was maybe because of this that you put survival low on the list since you dont like those CS-type specs and I can understand that. What I mean is that some of these specs on the list which has a completely different playstyle from other specs may be VERY appealing for some people (like "window"-specs like Arms and Survival) who don't like the Generate resources-->Spend resources style which most DPS specs have come to be right now (Chi, Maelstrom, Combo Points, Rage, Holy Power and so on).

My main right now is Survival Hunter. I am new to the game, and used to play way back in 05, but I don't remember much from then. But, yeah, it was fine up until like 40, then plrrrrp. Toss that shit. Just wish it had more flair or something. It just feels like a lot is missing. I wish it involved the pet more often than like 1 attack. I felt it would be pretty cool to make survival hunter based around say Pyromatics and lots and lots of traps, and even maybe implementing jumping attack animations rather than pokes and spins, I feel like animations can go a long way, but overall the class brings nothing but single target damage. I usually am on top with DPS but not until we get to a boss, it's best to pick a class that does both, so im trying out new things. Hell, I don't know. But I agree with what you and basically everyone else has said about the survival hunter, it just looked so cool, and it's too bad it isn't. This video is helpful for me, so thank you!

I'll be honest, when fury had CS, it was my favorite that fury had ever been. I loved the idea of pooling rage properly and then blowing it all once colossus smash was up, and I think it added a little more skill to the spec regardless of the fact that there was still RNG involved in terms of resetting the CD on the ability.

Excellent list, really enjoyed this. It came down to Enhancement Shaman or Frost DK for me. What tipped me towards Enhancement Shaman for Legion are the alt specs. I enjoy the playstyle and options Elemental provides and if it comes down to it I'd rather heal than tank, so Shaman it is for me.

Enhancement has been my main since BC. I have played it on the ptr and it is fun. My only gripe is the lack of shamanistic rage andpuppy heals for survivability and the lack of range for frostbrand. Can't wait to stormlash my melee brothers and sisters.

I know you disliked Outlaw but the fact you at least gave a little addendum that you've had some fun with it makes me a bit less selfconcious about potentially selecting it for a main. Roll the bones is primarily what I enjoy, I like having to react differently depending on what buffs I get. The way you think about your generators really does change depending on what buff you get, even more so with the change to Jolly Roger.

Assassination has by far improved a lot since WoD. The gameplay required to maximise DPS is so much more involved, especially if you go for the Hemorhhage Exsanguinate build, and Exsanguinate, if done correctly, feels as satisfying as Shadow Dance in WoD. Assassin class fantasy and bleeds aside, this spec I think deserves at least the middle range Preacher.

Okay, before the video starts, let me make some predictions: feral druid will be in worse, because people keep complaining that it's more for pvp and not pve, and people always wanna nerf it, and I don't wanna hear it. Although for me, probably in moderate since they got around to putting skills on talents, which means a second option for a difference in burst, small multi-target buff, and well, you're playing a cat. But I'm being bias for that since I go into combat, then press /dance over and over again. Outlaw rogue is the only class I tried. Assassination and sublity I found too complicated to put together in 30 minutes. Love the roll on dice, double strikes, and those are without the talents. I would put this as fun to play, but with the rng, I cannot see this to be viable at all for raids, so in the worse again. Monks on to the 2nd category. I found the rotation had very little down time (since it is encouraged to use different abilities), but unless I was playing something off incorrectly, the damage wasn't something exciting. Quite fun though. Fury warrior. All I did when playing was spam bladestorm over and over again. It was fun swinging the swords, so he'll but this on the best category(Arms I didn't understand and skipped it.) Enhancement shaman. I spent 3 hours on it in the ptr, and have been using it in pve environments for hours after release. Single target, multi-target, moving in, moving out, jumping in, summon wolves, throw lightning, empower enemies while shocking others? Yeah, this is probably going to be his favorite as it is mines. DK: Least time I spent testing. Even though I could not get the rune cooldown correctly, I found changing talents was amazing to look at, and I could figure out what was going on. Couldn't find that giant protection thing people kept showing off in wod, maybe it disappeared, but it was rather smooth. I don't know how to judge it, except that it's not bad. Also, I forgot DK sound different vocally, and speaking voices while fighting is also cool. Now we're back to the video You being a very experience raider has given me hope I might try feral druid for raiding. Thanks for making me feel better. Thought i'd be stuck with being resto and boom all the time. (Guardian I still need to figure out) Well, I guess me not figuring out how much fun the class is or the rotation speaks for itself, because you thought all three specs were trash. I guess I'll use my rogue purely for utility than raid, and maybe save her for leveling another time. Monk, windwalker. I should've spent more time on multiple enemies, because you mentioned and showed it a few times. I don't understand class fantasy, but I'm glad we see that the talents in there were good choices. Yeah, I'm a warrior, but it was nice to know you liked Fury. You also answered my question for arms: it appears the colossus smash was what I was suppose to have done to make that class work. Good to know, even if I may or may not touch that. Enhancement shaman, all the talents and all the flexibility. Not to mention it still looks cool, but maybe now I'll put more time grabbing some agility gear. I like it for the looks, you like it for the talents, sounds good. Death Knights: And they told me not to select breath of sindragosa. Let's go back and do that again. It was fun to play, and I hope to maybe level one because of your enthusiasm. Still don't know what happened to that shield in wod, but I'm sure it doesn't matter. Let's summon ice, or make enemies get attacked like we're playing beast mastery with plagues.

Great Video, Being that I've played blood dk since it's release, I've felt that Legion it was time for a change (tired of tanking). So happy Frost and Unholy are both completely viable.

Since the beginning of burning crusade, rogues have been one of the highest burst/single target DPS in the game. I agree that subtlety is trash and and outlaw is just a reroll of combat spec, I maintain that mute(assassination) rogues will maintain one of the highest burst/single target DPS in the game. I think it's an interesting concept, make rogues more dependant on bleeds for sustain damage much like the d.o.t.s of an affliction warlock. And since rogues generate 7 energy each time poisoned targets take bleed damage with generous wounds....and we have exangunate, making our bleeds ticks 400& faster...along with the artifact traits of the king slayers...I see high potential for assassination rogues to stay highly effective as melee DPS in raids. I think with the elusiveness talent...30 % reduced damage from all sourcrs while feign is active...evasion...cloak of shadows....and our own heal, assassination is most likely going to be viable in PvP, as bleeds can't be cleansed..
