The level adjustment so you don't need to move zones is a massive massive deal to me, nothing breaks immersion more than when you're half way through essentially saving an entire area... but oh no quests gone green let's bounce nextdoor. Well done for finally implementing Blizz
@altleveling8 жыл бұрын
completely agree. I hope they implement this for all zones.
@berndberndsen56808 жыл бұрын
Completely agree.That's one thing I've come to hate about leveling a new character, you don't even get anywhere near halfway through quest lines before you have to leave or waste time so I'm very much looking forward to that level scaling.
@sheppeyescapee8 жыл бұрын
Definitely. As someone who always completes zones rather than bouncing on it means that the zones and rewards are still relevant. In WoD I'd got to 100 and I hadn't even stepped foot in Nagrand, in fact I think I was only a little way into Spires of Arak. Though when Draenor pathfinder came along I had pretty much already completed it, with only the Tanaan jungle parts left to do. It seems to be working rather well on beta so far, lots of flexibility in terms of the levelling and questing experience, it is rather refreshing.

I've been in the beta since it started, And honestly, I am not running out of things to do. There's just so much content I'm never bored. And it's not only about the amount, it's the quality as well. Like the content that's seemingly endless is all so good I want to do it all. Preach - this video has given me the greatest amount of hype and joy out of all Legion-related content I've been able to find on youtube since... they announced it. This is - excuse me - a damn good cup of review. Yes I'm biased because I WANT it to be good and so I hype easily (hype sensitive). However, the way you eloquently and with surgical precision describe the reasons why the content rocks balls, makes me have - as you put it yourself at one point - hope for the future of the world... (... of Warcraft). And that feels good, my friend... it feels amazing. (and yes, still looking forward to also seeing the negative top 5, but also the elaborations on the top 5 positives. I will take it all in - but for the moment, I will saver this video) Rock on, brother

awesome stuff. one small step toward an "XP-less" experience of enjoying wow for the dungeon challenge and the world exploration (which, when it was properly challenging, was inherently social because you always wanted to have your leveling buddy/crew there with you to roam the world). the black harvest questline was the proof of concept, i knew it was coming and i['m really happy it's almost here.

I wasn't expecting this video to be about gameplay options, but about other features and systems that are present. For example, I am very excited about the new transmog system (and this is perhaps the first transmog system I have been excited about...ever). In regards to the features in this video: 5) Surumar - this sounds like what the entire world should be like. It's good to see it back in 1 zone, but it's just the 1 zone. 4) Other World Content - this also sounds amazing, and may even draw me back in. 3) Leveling Experience - currently, I out-level zones if all I do is quest in them. I think it would take me 3 zones of the 5 to get to 100 in WoD and that's doing 0 dungeons or BGs, with no heirloom gear, and no bonuses except for rested XP. I don't think that what you lose in immersion is gained back by the convenience of level scaling. I have never liked level scaling or normalization in RPGs, and I find it hard to accept this. As much as I like the look of end-game, leveling looks even more like a chore to me now, because you will never grow stronger than the things you are fighting by increasing your level. This is similar to how buying a new plane in World of Warplanes now puts you into a higher tier, so having a better plane makes the game harder, rather than easier. Put simply, it's like if you equip a bow and arrow you'll fight against enemies that all have clubs, but if you equip a rifle you'll fight against enemies that have rocket launchers. This is a hyperbole, of course, but when I go from level 106 to 107 I want to dominate those mobs that were a challenge before, not have them scale up with me. When levels are invisible, why have them? 2) Mythic Dungeons - I like the idea behind mythic dungeons, but I fear it will be an excuse to not implement more dungeons after launch. Obviously we'll have to wait until later to see if this happens, but when you look at the amount of post-launch dungeons in Wrath, that's a very good amount. Cata had a lot too, although 2 of them were remakes of old raids, and not new content. We've had 0 post-launch 5-mans in Mists and in Warlords, which is a harsh precedent that I fear will be repeated. 1) The class quests sound like they have enough content to at least keep leveling each alt fresh. This sounds like a good thing.

If Legion makes use of the old world a lot throughout the expansion that would really make me interested in getting back into the game. The last expansion really didn't hold my attention because I didn't feel like the Iron Horde was a real threat. Combining the enemy of now with the lands of old would be such a nice mix of fresh air and nostalgia and really make this expansion feel big and important. Of course, I want to spend most my time in the new areas but I don't want to feel like the threat of the legion is gone when I leave those areas. I think blizzard has hyped this enough to agree and probably would like to make the Legion present all throughout Azeroth. I just hope they do it to a good extent. If WoW can prove that its a living/breathing world to me again then I'll be back for a long time.

I was very impressed with the artifact weapon quest line for Shaman on beta. There was actually some challenge to it and the class felt distinct again, I'm really enjoying the emphasis on the classes and moving away from the feeling of homogenisation of the classes, I have a lot of alts and you never really felt immersed in the role of that character it was all a bit flat. I did all three artifact weapon questlines and forgot to change spec before going in the scenario, this wasn't too bad doing the elemental and enhancement ones but wow the resto one was so difficult to get through on enhance spec, I just about managed to do it. The Maelstrom, flipping gorgeous. It was really nice going and exploring some of the old world areas, it always felt like they were under utilising what amazing content they had especially with heirlooms meaning that you often weren't in a zone for very long before you moved on. I really liked the levelling, I really like being immersed in the world and the story lines, music and environments. There was so much choice with zones etc it never felt like I was being forced to go a certain path like in previous expansions. Hopefully this will help with launch as not everybody will be forced into the same zone like in previous expansions where everyone was in 1 maybe 2 zones and questing was a bloody nightmare. Overall I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about Legion, hoping to pre-order soon but was waiting to see what was in beta before doing so.

On one hand, old zones being populated again is a good thing. But I feel the quests and game in general is too scripted which makes it hard to enjoy anything else having to do with it, and I'm worried it will kill the flair the old zones had and still have on some level.

Scaled leveling has been a wonderful feature of Guild Wars 2 for a very long time, which is one of my favorite parts of the game. The ONLY thing I don't like about it in Guild Wars 2, is that you can go backwards and it will drop your efficient level to match that zone, which is great for when you want to play with other people who may not be your level, and giving the entire world value, as opposed to just the zones "your level" (which tend to make leveling zones ghost towns once you're past them)... however, you cannot go FORWARD to join up with people ahead of you, unless it is world events. So unless your friends actually want to level in the zone you are in, doing the things you are doing, you might still find yourself at the kiddie table. Now, for world events, they DO scale you up to match the level of the encounter, mobs etc. You won't have all the wonderful spells and accoutrements you would have at that actual level, but you DO have the required level to do them, and enjoy them, as well. You don't miss out on the living story as it progresses naturally on to bigger and better things; you are quite capable of being a part of every part of history, as long as you were logged in and there. In FACT, now you can actually purchase the older living world content that you may have missed, in order to experience it all. Those achievements associated with the war of this, or the fall of that are not gone forever. You can play through it whenever you have time. At any rate, I wish that GW2 would have ALL zones be playable for all characters; it only changes the amount of XP you get, the gear level etc based on your actual level. That would make an already awesome leveling system more... awesome. Er. I think WoW has seen some of the best GW2 has to offer and wants it for themselves. All good. After all, GW2 developers were defectors from WoW in the first place. They thought they had some better ideas, so they went and made their own game. And in many ways, they WERE better ideas; it's just hard to break away from the crack that is WoW; what you know and are comfortable with. It takes a while to finally reach a breaking point in WoW where something HAS to change or you are just done. Where you are finally willing to try out new things, as this clearly is, for WoW players. I think everyone will love this, once they get used to it. Just because GW2 doesn't have the same numbers as an MMORPG twice it's age, does not make it any less viable or popular. It has a VERY strong player base who enjoy the features of GW2, and the overall increased maturity level of its players. Bring some of those good points back to WoW and you might have restarted the old gal's heart. Now if WoW would just implement the bag/bank interactions of GW2 as well. Bags full? No problem! Click a button and send all those lovely crafting mats seamlessly to your crafting bank. *poof* No need to run back to town. Personally, I am looking forward to Legion and hope it is a good expansion. I've played for many years now, totally dedicated, and hating myself for it more and more. A truly good game takes your life and you don't miss or regret the time you gave it; like a truly epic love affair that eventually runs its course with no regrets or hard feelings. With WoW, ever since cataclysm, I have just felt like I was robbed of the best years of my life; wasted and regretted. I am anxious to feel that love for my favorite drug again.

One thing that will make or break it for me is the rewards from mythic challenge weekly chest thing. If there's no chance of getting raid loot (including tier pieces) then it's gonna suck, since having 4p bonus and raid trinkets makes a HUGE difference to having regular pieces.

The exp scaling reminds me of The gw2 system And since i love that one imma give blizz a big thumbs up for this one

Preach, you've got me worryingly hyped for Legion. I was hyped for WoD but was only bitterly disappointed. So I'm hesitant to be as hyped for Legion.

I really, REALLY hope the mythic keystone method is how Blizzard does Raid difficulty for the expansion after Legion. SO hyped for mythic+ - our guild is going to skip raid progression for a bit and just focus on a few solid 5 person teams for mythic+.

Legion honestly looks like it's going to be the best post-WotLK expansion yet! I Cannot wait! Maybe this will begin to set things right... The devs seem to be taking a lot of the feedback from WoD and the Nost situation pretty seriously. I'm still going to be salty about WoD and try not to go into this expansion with to high of expectations but EVERYTHING I have seen interests me and seems like an improvement over what we have now. Really happy with this expansion so far! Can't wait to get my hands on it.

NIghtfallen next playable race, and would be neutral like the pandaren? Would be cool if they've implemented some of that addiction they have towards arcane

i do have hopes for legion, i didn't hate WoD at launch it was the lack of content post launch that really pissed me off. with the wow token that's helped me deal with it since now i don't gotta put in any money into wow outside of the expac price tag but legion i think will show us if WoD was just a mess up or the new norm
