Im like you, when i ve decourved this, , im french, but for our humanity is there, simply, fraternally @bazrseam188 il y a 2 ans (modifié) Je ne sais pas s'il existe... Mais quand j'entends ça, c'est peut-être la fraternité qui nous lie, relie, un vieil agnostique, plus trop sûr de l'être? I don't know if he exists... But when I hear that, maybe it's the brotherhood that binds us, connects us, an old agnostic, not too sure of it anymore?

Dear God, today I pray for all of us. Today I pray for our collective pain, our collective sins, our collective suffering. Today I ask you to forgive us and to teach us to also forgive ourselves. Today I ask you to wash away all of the pain from our hearts and bring to us peace. Today we reach out to you humbly and surrender...surrender from trying to do everything ourselves...and allow your power to flow through us...to guide us, to help us overcome the insurmountable. Addiction, pain, suffering, negativity, hatred, ignorance, regret, poverty, disease, war, famine, shortcomings. We surrender Lord...we can't do this by ourselves anymore...

You sent out a little part of your love when you recorded this song. I’m the one who captured it…and I’m not giving it back. Now, there is a part of you living inside a 54 year old white man who lives at the end of the road in Alaska. To my African American neighbors….thank you for loving this old stray dog, teaching him how to work, showing him how parents are suppose to act, letting him know what honor, humility and forgiveness looks like.❤

As one _broken_ human being to another, I will tell you this: I tried to _end it all_ once, during my late teens; my life was out of control, and I harbored no hope for the future. I came to a point where I believed that Life had no meaning or purpose, and I had lost all hope -- so, I sat down, wrote a letter to my mother, and I _overdosed_ on some _lethal drug_ I had gotten off the street. By the time I was 'discovered' a few hours later ( _barely breathing_ ), I was pronounced DOA by the time they got me to the Hospital. I wont go into WHAT I _experienced_ and what I SAW and FELT during my _death experience_ because it would end up being a book, so I will spare you the details; however --- what I would like to share with you is this: We DONT DIE. The SOUL is _eternal_ ; once the Soul exits or releases ITSELF from the BODY, it FREES "itself" and is LIBERATED. All the Soul takes with it on this _new journey_ are : the KNOWLEDGE 'it' ( _you_ ) have acquired during this lifetime, and --- the EXPERIENCES 'it' ( _you_ ) have lived and 'learned' from. When one considers DEATH, and along with it a _Heaven and a Hell_ --- my personal experience is that : HEAVEN, is a _place_ you go, to spend Eternity with what you LOVE most: YOURSELF. and...... HELL, is a _place_ you go, to spend Eternity with what you HATE most: YOURSELF. Stop considering on _ending_ your life, because this END will come when you least expect it --- but instead, try to LIVE your life with purpose, and do what you like and makes you HAPPY --- and in between : try to learn as much as you can before you arrive at the _end of the road._ And again I will say : there is no END. DEATH is just an exit from this _existence_ into another existence, which we create here and now, through our thoughts, our words, and our actions. Wishing you all the very best across the miles, and sending you this. Enjoy🙂👇 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGHIiWOKmq-pbrs ~ NAMASTE + LIVE LONG + PROSPER 🖖

After breaking up with the mother of my daughter, I went to go live with my brother for a few months. I was going through a hard time at that point in my life. We'd sit in his living room for hours talking about anything and everything with laughter in almost every moment, making me forget my situation for as long as the conversations stretched on. One day it was the usual set up, we're both in his living room listening to music telling stories back and forth until he received a text from my ex. She sent him a picture of her sonogram of my son. After the initial shock, it was one of the rare moments where we sat in silence and didn't exchange words for a few minutes. After a few moments, he puts this song on. It was the first time I had ever heard it, but it was the perfect song to put on in my opinion. I'll never forget that moment R.I.P Big brother 😪 Your niece just turned 6 and your nephew is almost 4

If you have an ear for spectacularly good music, then the first time you heard this song you had to find out who it was. As a musician myself, I heard it faintly from a distance walking by someone's wedding and I could only make out a few words, it was the Hook, take me to your river, searched it and changed my life. Leon you and your loved ones and fellow musicians should be proud. This is a masterpiece.

Been travelling these wide roads for so long My heart's been far from you Ten thousand miles gone Oh, I want to come near and give you Every part of me But there is blood on my hands And my lips are unclean In my darkness I remember Momma's words reoccur to me: "Surrender to the good Lord And he'll wipe your slate clean" Take me to your river I want to go I'll go Take me to your river I want to know Dip me in your smooth waters I'll go in As a man with many crimes Come up for air As my sins flow down the Jordan Oh, I want to come near and give you Every part of me But there is blood on my hands And my lips are unclean Take me to your river I want to go Oh, I go Take me to your river I want to know I want to go want to go want to go I want to know want to know want to know (bis) Take me to your river I want to go Lord please let me know Take me to your river I want to know Leon Bridges - River

“River” is just one of those songs that talks about salvation. It’s basically saying that this is the life that I have been living. I have been living down the wide road, and the Bible uses the wide road as the road that is to destruction. It’s basically the turning point, really just surrendering to God. The river represents being Baptized, and really just turning everything to God -Leon Bridges

This song really found me in the midst of my darkness, I was crying when i heard this and had not a clue as to why. I had abandoned my relationship with Christ and completely denied Him while i was out getting caught up in the world, Little did i know those tears was God speaking to my heart. Several months later and i gave my life back over to Christ. Coming back to this song and really seeing what it was, God is so amazing and REAL. Jesus is calling out for all of us to return to Him and surrender our own ways of thinking. This world wont last much longer and the only way to ETERNAL life is through Him. Give your life to Him today, Have a heart to heart with Him, and he will surely guide you the way. God bless you all❤️

I'm not religious.. lost my faith a while ago. This song carries such a heavy yet comforting weight in my chest nonetheless. No other song compares to this feeling. Like a hug saying "everything will be okay." I don't believe in a soul yet it hits a part of me I never knew existed. In my interpretation this song means the constant renewal of one's self and to forgive yourself for past mistakes. Also respect to all who interpret this in a more spiritual way or feel a greater connection. It's important to keep going no matter what. All you good humans deserve the world. I love you, random stranger. Keep going.

I lost my younger brother this summer. Investigation ongoing. But he would have loved this song. We lived by a river and would look at the stars, we also grew up on spirituals which is what this song reminds me of. We were babysat at times by a woman who by the end of her life had 26 grandkids, but she always asked about me and my brother, she’s gone he’s gone so many gone. I’m still dealing with it every day. Dreams and visions and seeing things. It’s a lot. I love this song. It’s very cathartic. Lotsa tears every time I listen. Thank you for making soul enveloping music. Lots of memories flood back to me.

I'm an agnostic Buddhist, and definitely not a religious person in the traditional Christian sense, but I appreciate the message and meaning of this song and the story of Jesus so much. At any point in your life, no matter what you have done or where you come from, there can always be the moment where you change and follow the path of righteousness and truth. Where you stop blaming and punishing yourself and the world for the terrible things in the past you have done and that have been done to you, because we all have them, and move on to live a life of meaning and joy and harmony; to live as close to the image of Jesus you are able. "Dip me in your smooth waters. I go in as a man with many crimes; come up for air as my sins float down the Jordan."

@cialozier3 жыл бұрын
@@TayRivers222 it depends on perspective. results are outcomes/consequences/lessons learned. maybe proud isn't the exact word. content may be a better one. if one is content with where one is (not focused on where one has been; that is the past and unchangeable, and is just a foundation for the place where one is; which is way more significant than where one has been), then let oneself bask in the light that shines through and in our imperfect selves. we've all made, make, and will continue to make mistakes. to stay mired in the memory of it doesn't help anything. to consciously be better now is a possibility and a reality, if one is willing to gift onself with it.

Tell me what is going on in society today that we do not realize. & finally, please say what the solution(s) is/are for the ills, the suffering in this society. Must we find a way to give a lot of $ to the poor every week until their problems are over? Or, send many into their homes to meet with all the needy weekly & preach the Gospel? Both? I sincerely want to hear what people who know of this suffering believe the solutions are. I want to hear what caused these neighborhoods of the suffering, angry & disenfranchised. Was it "Jim Crow", a political party or what? knowing the cause can lead to the cure. Ask friends &, family for their input. I want the public to know what it is & really find & enact the solutions. I want this suffering to end.

Well, what do you classify as a gospel song? Whatever your qualifiers are, the artist himself described this song as "a message of light." Leon Bridges wrote his interpretation of the song as a reflection of a moment of depression in his life and his seeking of spiritual guidance/experience. The video itself he explains as trying to depict "black communities in our media and particular experiences within my own life...I wanted to showcase that through all the injustice in the world, there's real hope." Most gospel songs in my experience either praise the Lord, beg, or worship him. The Lord is the centerpiece of the song, and the singer but a devoted follower beneath him. This song, in my interpretation, is centered around the narrator as they ask another being that could be human or divine for permission. The narrator feels unworthy but wishes to be "pure/holy," and sounds a bit afraid to ask this of the other being, however. On the subject of River being a gospel song...for me, I don't think it is. It is a religious song, yes. All Leon Bridge says on this topic is that "a river has historically been used in Gospel music as a symbol of change and redemption." Which I think means he's using the symbolic interpretation of a river to define his desire to transform emotionally, by way of looking to the Lord and into himself.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for everyone in the comments and watching going through troubling times and asking for your guidance and help. I pray you will give them the power, might, and will to carry their burdens and give their troubles to you. I pray you show them the path of righteousness and allow them to fill their hearts with joy. I pray you show them the guidance they need to place their troubles and weary in your healing hands. I pray for these strangers and ask you to give them forgiveness, give me love, show them their happiness, and enlighten them on the brightness of this world. I pray they will place their faith and courage in your hands dear Lord and feel the warmth and power of your love and guidance. I have read words asking for help, for prayers, for burdens to be lifted, and I ask you dear Lord to allow these brothers and sisters in Christ to open their eyes to your glory and seek their truths and happiness. I pray for everyone to find their joy and understand that you will guide them through their life dear Heavenly Father. I thank you for your love and power dear Lord and I pray you place your healing hands upon my neighbors dear Lord! In Jesus name I humbly pray Amen!

We all have sinned, and have broken God’s law (The Ten Commandments). Wrong doing deserves justice and must be punished (just like how a criminal has to pay for the crime they have committed) but God saved us from the eternal punishment of our sins by sending His Son Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for us, so that we may have everlasting life. Now for you to accept the free gift of grace, you must repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ and you will you be saved from eternal punishment, and be given everlasting life. By faith you will receive the Holy Spirit and He will transform your heart and clean you from the inside out. Turn away from sin, read Bible, pray for Jesus to reveal Himself to you and change you, seek to do what is right according to the Bible. Much love and God bless.

I mean I love him and artists like Raphael Sadiq but they seem to have been born in the wrong era. I hope this song gets huge but with the say music is sounding, its gonna be hard. But its possible. Fingers crossed

+Khesanio Moon If you listen to the lyrics, you'll find that this is not a Gospel song by any stretch of the imagination. It's about being in love with someone, but having a dark past that causes you to put up a shield. I find it so funny when people mistake songs with religious undertones as being literal Christian songs, like Halellejuah sung by Jeff Buckley. Lovely song about King David, right? Wrong, it's entirely a song endorsing "fornication."

+Paige Wilson With respect, your analysis of the song is incorrect. Leon explained the meaning of the song in an interview with GQ. Look up " GQ The Story Behind the Song 'River' " he specifically says this song is about turning to God in a desperate time of need. So the song's message is exactly what it sounds like.

No matter the path you’ve walked, the path you continue, or where the path is headed. No matter the problems you’ve faced, the problems you currently face, or the problems you will face. No matter the mistakes of your past, no matter the mistakes you currently make, and no matter the mistakes you will make. Regardless of trouble of any and all kinds. God will always love, care and forgive you. God will always be there for you in both your darkest and brightest times. There is no greater power than his love.

This is the song I sang to my daughters when they were babies. It was the only song that would stop their tears. This is the song I sing to myself when my tears come. It soothes the inner little Sarah. I believe this to be a Divinely written piece. Quieting the soul when it needs rest and comfort ❤️

Lyrics ~ Been traveling these wide roads for so long My heart's been far from you Ten-thousand miles gone Oh, I wanna come near and give ya Every part of me But there's blood on my hands And my lips aren't clean In my darkness I remember Momma's words reoccur to me "Surrender to the good Lord And he'll wipe your slate clean" Take me to your river I wanna go Oh, go on Take me to your river I wanna know Tip me in your smooth waters I go in As a man with many crimes Come up for air As my sins flow down the Jordan Oh, I wanna come near and give ya Every part of me But there's blood on my hands And my lips aren't clean Take me to your river I wanna go Go on, Take me to your river I wanna know I wanna go, wanna go, wanna go I wanna know, wanna know, wanna know Wanna go, wanna go, wanna go Wanna know, wanna know, wanna know Wanna go, wanna go, wanna go Wanna know, wanna know, wanna know Take me to your river I wanna go Lord, please let me know Take me to your river I wanna know

Its been three years now since this song came out, and I read somewhere a while back that River is a piece centered around the artists’ depression. Thinking about that as I listen, I don’t quite think there is any other way to describe this song than that. I have days that are hard. And I have days when all I can do is count off a list of things that made me happy once. And sometimes I find myself in my kitchen, quietly swaying in tune to this song. This song helps you find peace. Whether by god or through the comfort of knowing others are right there with you. Its strong and empowering. I absolutely adore it, and I thank all of you for stopping to listen to it with me. I raise a glass in Leon’s name. Well done, sir. Well done.
