What a brilliant idea to use red lentils for a pizza crust! I've been doing The Daily Dozen (as a Flexitarian, rather than a vegan) and this seems like a solid and super stealthy way to get some legumes in, LOL. Thanks for sharing this with us :D I'm team pineapple, if the other ingredients go well with it or if it's alone, with a red sauce. I could see pineapple working with BBQ sauce, as well. And definitely terriyaki. Maybe mushrooms? I've been flirting with the idea of creating an Italian sausage flavored tofu crumbles recipe. THAT could go well with pineapple on a pizza. BTW, if you want a crust with less calories, for whatever reason (say you want to load it up with vegan sausage crumbles and pineapple and stuff), you could use an Ezekiel tortilla for that. Those are made with whole sprouted legumes and grains. They are about $4 at Trader Joe's and I highly recommend them. I do have to use a quick spray of oil, to get it started in my cast iron skillet (low-medium, while I'm putting the toppings on), and then I move it into the oven at 425 degrees, for about 8-10 minutes, to cook the toppings. The tortillas don't have nearly the same amount of protein as this red lentil crust (7 grams) and they come out like a crunchy cracker crust, but they're only about 160 calories, per piece. Anyway, I just wanted to offer that as an alternative, for those of us who can't simply stop at half a pizza 🤣, but don't want a whole one for 600+ calories. Blessings! #thedailydozen

Why am I seeing an aversion to wheat flour in vegan recipes? You aren’t alone in this. I’m trying to be vegan, but I want recipes that resemble what I enjoyed in my non vegan past. A vegan cheesy substitute. Cookies that don’t require expensive ingredients like almond flour. I’ve stayed with this since August ‘23. Get plenty of salads and soups and entree. Not hungry here. But would like fun foods that are yummy and not expensive to make.
@LetsEatPlants11 ай бұрын
Hey Diane! Thanks for reaching out! I think as you'll come to realize, there are different paths in veganism. Some eat a bit more healthy, and may avoid things like wheat, oil, refined sugar, etc. while others are looking more for mainstream items just turned vegan without any animal products. Totally get it! I personally have leaned more into healthy cooking, as that's what I'm used to and enjoy... so a lot of my videos are using some more "healthy" ingredients that may be a bit pricier or a bit out of the norm. However, there are a lot of channels/ recipe creators that focus more on easy & simple vegan recipes! I love Sam of It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken, NoraCooks, Sweet Simple Vegan, From My Bowl, Liv B, Madeleine Olivia, Make it Dairy Free, The Edgy Veg, and honestly so many more! I think you will find these creators have a lot more recipes with simple ingredients! Definitely check them out and see if that helps with what you're looking for. 😋😋 All that said, this is one of my all-time favorite cookie recipes and it is quite straightforward (I just veganized a traditional oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe), so thoguht I'd share it with you since you mentioned cookies in particular! kzbin.info/www/bejne/h33FepyrgdaoY9U Hope this helps! 😊
