It was 78 years after the rift took Captain Kirk to his Fantasyland where he was going to propose to his woman instead of go back to starfleet. He should have tied his woman to the horse and whipped her on her ass for being so demanding when it comes to him making her eggs. A good Captain should always be firm but fair. I'd say 20 with a good very large strong horse whip would be good.

I JUST HAD AN AWESOME THOUGHT GUYS: They should have made an entire film like this, with the TNG Enterprise-D crew manning an 18th century sailing ship in some high seas, Pirates of the Caribbean-esque, adventure. Captain Picard, first officer Riker, the whole cast. Even have some evil admiral sending them on a mission. Use the standard Trek tropes, but in this setting.

@@johnw2026 A studding sail, or stun'sl(pronounced stuns'l /ˈstʌnsəl/) is an extra sail on a square rigged vessel for use in fair weather. It is set outside the square sails, using stun'sl booms which run out along the yards. They came into use some time in the middle of the 17th century and by the beginning of the 19th century were usual on all square rigged sailing vessels. They started to become less common in the last quarter of the 19th century, as the economies of smaller crews and avoidance of damage to the ship's gear became more important than a fast voyage.

It's weird that he was first portrayed as a lieutenant but presumably a junior grade and wasn't promoted to lieutenant commander until this movie. But he performed the exact same role on the Enterprise since replacing Yar at tactical/chief of security. What exactly were the additional rights and responsibilities of his new rank?

When Riker says that no one has ever gotten the officer’s cap before, it makes me wonder if Data went through this ceremony when he made Lt Commander. Maybe he was already that rank when he came on board, but if he did you would think he could make that grab. Or they might have skipped the ceremony in case he missed, he doesn’t really float….lol

no Data was Lt Commander in the pilot and when Picrad finally used a holodeck it was in a later episode and is stated to be is first time. After a 2 minute trip he is gushing over how real the holodeck felt to Troi.

Must have been Worfs strong "Klingon" muscles in his legs enabling him to jump that high to reach his hat from how high it was to us viewers. LOL. Yes, it was funny when Data pushed Dr Crusher into the water but it was equally funny when Riker said "Computer, remove the plank" Worfs face when he realised what's about to happen and trying to get back onboard then Data pushing Dr Crusher overboard causing Worf to fall back in half way up. Mayhem. LOL

'So if we want new uniforms for the movie, should we pay to have some made?' 'Nah, let's just shove 6ft 3 Jonathan Frakes in 5ft 10 Garrett Wang's Yoyager uniform and blow the wardrobe budget on an elaborate promotion scene for Worf'

I've seen this scene many times, but I don't believe i've ever noticed the huge patch of blood on Worf's knee as he's trying to climb out and Beverly knocks him back in. Just googled it. Reddit claims it was wet paint from the ship being painted at the last minute

I saw that before - not blood - it's paint from the ship. I read a backstory that production was behind and they had to touch up the side with red paint. Still wet when shooting. Rush Rush Rush!!!!!

The music in first 30 seconds of this scene uses the same motif as the DS9 theme. I'd almost say it was the prototype for DS9 the same way the TMP theme was the prototype for TNG's, only DS9 was on the air before this movie entered production.

Perhaps not the best of ideas, however, as *Doctor* Crusher is actually Data's superior officer as *Commander* Beverly Crusher.

One thing I'm confused about: when Worf is climbing up out of the water and he gets knocked back in by Dr Crusher as she falls, I noticed he has red stains on his knees (which look an awful lot like blood!), as though he had been injured. How was he injured??
