Great podcast and now I know Ryan much better than what I have known from KZbin shorts. I am quite impressed and this is someone I have been looking for from long time but then the people like Ryan who have this level of knowledge and reach become unreachable for people like me. So in that case what a person like me can do. I want to take that step which Ryan talks about, I want to become the owner of this body and feed it the right stuff, but then who can guide people like me in that approach. I even am ready to do the reading but then I still need direction

I'm a layman. I've not enough money to go to a nutritionist or do all the expensive tests, but I follow two thumb rules: 1) Don't eat sugar, fried food and packaged (in plastic) foods. 2) Do 30minutes Yoga in the morning, 45minutes walk in the evening and 15minutes meditation at night. I don't know what will be the result but I can do this much!
@zackryan2686 ай бұрын
Exercising is good but you need to be careful about meditation. Recent study has concluded that meditation can do more harm than good and the most common adverse effects are anxiety and depression.

As a PhD in Human Genetics, I am on board with everything Ryan said except the role of genetics. Using commercial gene panels to test for a person's nutritional tolerance profile is extremely gimmicky and a complete waste of money. These genes are picked from statistical association studies & small animal studies and cannot be blindly applied to humans. Genes function in extremely complex molecular environments & just because someone may carry a certain gene (or mutation) does not mean that they will metabolize a certain nutrient group in a particular way. I advise people to steer clear on such tests and focus on proper diet & exercise.

I appreciate the content and information shared in this video. However, it’s important to be mindful of the distinction between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. I appreciate Karan for being specific in his question but a nutritionist referring to “diabetes” broadly as a “lifestyle disease” is hurtful to those of us living with Type 1 which is an autoimmune condition. Spread awareness about all forms of diabetes and related mental health aspects.
