Zaheer embodies the villianous aspects of an airbender. Someone who wants to detach and become free from order and wants to eradicate order from the world. Air nomads dont believe in being attached to the world but in a peaceful way. If zaheer was originally an airbender it still would make sense for him to be tnhis way

A huge message about "the balance" has been carried troughout this whole episode, and how you can't heal a wound by the opossite means to "balance", but to find the balance yourself. Listen up: Toph had grown up in a too strict household, and so she had behaved towards her kids too carelessly. Lin had grown up to be too strict, and Suy too careless. Even in their adulthood the two women can't shake off the cycle of wounds, and are raising their kids badly: let's say Lin is acting as a mother towards Korra although it's more of a duty, but Suy is being, again, too strict. It's like a neverending cycle where the two forces can't find the balance, and always jump out on the opposite. It's just after the two forces met, an explosion had to occur so the mistake could be relized and fixed. The two sisters were always meant to balance each other, but they weren't able to do it as kids. They had to grow up and figure the life before facing the past, the wounds of past generations. It's a beautiful analogy life and everything in it. (As always in this series).

There is some debate in the fandom of who is the better bender and or fighter. Su does beet lin and she doesn’t seem to be at the very peek of her fighting while doing it. However people who think Lin is better point out that Lin was mentally and physically unwell during the fight. She was out of breath before it even started. Also with Lin’s job you would just think she is the better fighter. However Su is talented and has some good fight moments. So the debate goes on! Anyone want to way in here?

Their combat readiness aside, I always enjoy how their earthbending choices visually show the differences in character; before Opal stops them, Lin grabs the very angular but structured part of the gazebo behind her, emphasizing her desire for order and stability, whereas Su just lifts a random boulder above herself, showing off her flexibility and practicality. They even use their limbs differently, Lin with a single arm thrust while Su uses both arms for a circular motion. It's a really beautiful visual contrast between them. Sometimes just small details like those really make big impressions.

But the voice she does for young lin doesn’t sound like any other voice she does for the show. Meaning that when heard it for the first time, it was familiar but I couldn’t place it. Lin is someone we know but we have never heard 18-21 year old lin speak. So this familiarity works for her voice. If this made any sense.
