Michael's issue was never fame. From the moment he stepped onto the world stage until his death, he was harshly and unfairly treated, and even today, he continues to be judged, criticized, and misunderstood. Michael was a sensitive, vulnerable, and emotional person. A human being can only endure so much pain. I'm glad he had Lionel Richie as a friend!

@@hannaz4617 Michael Jackson was beloved even his eccentric behavior at 1st was accepted. MJ was treated like a modern day King. The problem was the 1st child molestation allegation. People used it to reevaluate what was once acceptable behavior. The big mistake was paying the money to the accuser. Bad legal advice. By paying out and size of the payout. The size of the stain of settling increased. The media begin to sell MJJ news, propaganda, gossip, rumors instead of albums. Michael sort of lost his footing around this point. The full transformation of his face. Failed marriage to Elvis daughter. Then the raid and intentional shaming and abuse by law enforcement. The criminal charges. The trial. The not guilty. The larger stain. It appears MJJ did not take aging well. The way and manner in which he died. The weight of the world too much to bear. The world is a lesser place without him.

I remember I used to hold Michael high up on a pedestal. I could talk about him non-stop, and almost lose my mind. My grandmother used to work at WJPC in Chicago and met him a few times when he was part of Jackson 5 at one of their functions. "He's just a regular boy," she said. "He came up to me and asked if we had any more chicken." My mom still tells me to stop idolizing him, he was just a person. When I watched this video, this brings to light -- he was just a person, who was swallowed up by fame and all that could come with it. Like Lionel said, he hit that wall. After that horrific 1984 Pepsi commercial accident, where his hair caught on fire from the pyrotechnics. His scalp/head was permanently burned. I can't even begin to imagine the pain that he endured. Lionel's greatest feat was as a songwriter. If I'm not mistaken Lionel wrote a number 1 song every year for a decade or something crazy like that. But the 80s was the decade of the mega star and there were others such as Prince, Tina, Whitney to name a few, who were all competing at one point in time to be the biggest or best that they could be. Competing doesn't mean your better, but that you strive to be better. Lennon & McCartney and Brian Wilson pushed each other to produce some of the most brilliant music in the late 60s. The competition produced albums like Pet Sounds and Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Great video! May I make a suggestion though? I watch your videos on my TV. I really hate how at the end, the suggested in-video links pop up on the screen and block the last bit of footage showing. I would suggest ending each video by letting the footage completely play out and fully end, THEN adding a still shot of Michael that extends the video by about 20-30 seconds, giving the suggested in-video links space to pop up without blocking the screen from actual footage. I really hope that makes sense.

Muchas cosas para comentar sobre el vídeo. 1.

Theres no comparison between MJ and Lionel, no one aint coming close to Mike!!!

I was a child when MTV launched, and they were hesitant to start playing black artists. MJ was always the one to wait for, closely followed by Prince. By that metric, Lionel was a distant third.

Mike was in competition with people without knowing they all wanted to claim a part of him

Vários artistas voltaram a mídia nos últimos anos porque Michael Jackson mais uma vez de muitas explode e bate recordes novamente atualmente. E agora entendo porque Lionel sempre favorece o lado dele no documentário "We are the Wold". Michael Jackson sempre tímido fazia o excelente te trabalho dele sossegado.

If you're competing against someone, there's always jealousy. And jealoysy and envy leads to hatred.. The more envious you are, the more you hate this person. You can like this person a lot, but you also hate them. Frenemy. Smiling faces sometimes Pretend to be your friend Smiling faces show no traces Of the evil that lurks within (can you dig it?) Smiling faces, smiling faces, sometimes They don't tell the truth Smiling faces, smiling faces tell lies and I got proof Oh, oh, yeah Let me tell you The truth is in the eyes 'cause the eyes don't lie, amen Remember, a smile is just a frown turned upside down my friend So, hear me when I'm saying Smiling faces, smiling faces, sometimes, yeah They don't tell the truth Smiling faces, smiling faces tell lies and I got proof (Beware) beware of the handshake That hides the snake (can you dig it, can you dig it?) I'm a-tellin' you beware of the pat on the back It just might hold you back Jealousy, (jealousy) misery (misery) envy (envy) I tell you you can't see behind Smiling faces, smiling faces, sometimes Hey, they don't tell the truth Smiling faces, smiling faces tell lies and I got proof Hey, your enemy won't do you no harm (Rap on) 'cause you'll know where he's comin' from Don't let the handshake and the smile fool ya Take my advice, I'm only tryin' to school ya Smiling faces, smiling faces, sometimes They don't tell the truth Smiling faces, smiling faces tell lies and I got proof Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes. He was jealous of Micheal , but in rivalry which there wasn’t the best of them came out , MJ has no competition you either accepted that he is and will be the only King of Pop Micheal Jackson or you just beat it . ❤

He really was on competition but only Him was trying to compete, Michael all the way teaching Him He can't really compete. Take Time to watch the grammy "we are the world" award for song of the year, Michael took the Trophy and even tho Lionel eagerly wanted to take it Mike did not let Him, deep inside He was in pain, just observe them both beefing silently then comeback here and tell me what you saw

lol Lionel was being delusional - once Mike blew up Lionel wasn’t even a speck in Michael’s radar. He was competing in his own head, Michael was living rent free 😂
@miggs803 ай бұрын
What are you talking about? The only time Lionel said Michael was his biggest competition was when Michael was 9 years old. He even said that it was crazy that his biggest competition was a child but that’s how talented Michael was even then. He never pretended like they were neck and neck once MJ became the biggest star in the world.
@AlexAtuh3 ай бұрын
@@miggs80 oh yes he did. When off the wall came out, during thriller, even bad. Lionel thought he was still a match even then, there’s footage of him saying that.

Obviously not a Richie fan..Lionel may not have had Michael's numbers, but he was a big deal.. With the Commodores and solo… apples and oranges..
