I genuinely want to know, what are your top three goals / objectives when moving to the Philippines? Here were mine when I first moved here four years ago: 1. Help other expats settle down in the Philippines 2. Find a community of quality friends 3. Go to the beach often

Hi, i’m a new subscriber to your channel but appreciating your content while doing my research. I’m Filipino American but have never been to the Philippines due to family circumstances. I plan to report my birth as a filipino born abroad and obtain dual citizenship so I can work and buy land/property. Of course, I plan to spend several months there first visiting family, exploring different areas and immersing myself in the culture and my people. My top three goals are: 1. Connect with my family and build relationships and connect with my heritage and share it with my own children while they’re young. 2. Leave the US rat race, toxic culture and political violence of the US behind. This includes exposing my kids to a completely different worldview and culture and connect to their heritage as well, as they are 1/4 filipino . I’m also looking for a more wholesome traditional values culture, where I won’t get yelled at by an entitled Karen. I’m looking for a kinder, more friendlier culture. I am learning tagalog and all i can about the cultural norms as I wasn’t really taught this as a child where my American Dad had me most of the time. 3. Related to #2, I’m looking for my money to go further and expand passive income and investments/ 401k while spending more time enjoying the company of family and friends. I work in big tech, own a home, investments/401k and have a large salary in Southern California, yet it still feels really stressful with the high cost of living, the amount needed for retirement, cost of upcoming college tuition, etc. I’ve considered leaving California for a cheaper state here, but there’s so much division and outrageous politics in those states that I don’t want to live there. What do you think of my prospects of finding any work for a US company getting paid in US dollars with a tech background? Ideally freelance work. I’m also considering what business opportunities or investments might be available. I see the Philippines as a growing and rapidly developing nation that really surprised me the more I looked. Salamat po kuya!

Really enjoy your channel! I just found out about BGC and am planning a visit in the next few months. I've traveled a lot and have been to 40 countries but am ready to leave the US after being here for the last 6 years. My goals/objectives are: 1. Reduce my cost of living so I can invest 30% of my income. 2. Continue to grow my online business but work remotely to explore new places. 3. Get out of land-locked Chicago and go to the beach more often!

In my judgment, Boracay has the most beautiful beach in the world. The sand is brilliant white with the consistency of flour. The Philippines has warm, friendly people and offers good value. There are issues including poverty, bureaucracy and corruption that hold the country back but I like the country as a whole.
@benchoflemons398 Жыл бұрын
The Internet issue can be solved through WAN bonding. For example, you could have your residential ISP, a cell phone provider, and starlink. When the Internet goes down you will automatically be switched to star link and if star link doesn’t work, then you will automatically be switched to a cell phone plan. And so on When bonded your IP will not change in the event of a failover, so, for example, if you’re in a video call the person on the other side, will not know that your Internet went down and your not using cell data and there will be no interruption.

I hope you learn alot with this interview. Be realistic of your expectations, respect the cultures, don't bring your American attitude as if you are better than everbody else and the best advice I could say is learn alitte tagalog even if it's just greetings. Always used "po" after a sentence even if your talking to a younger person. Goodluck and enjoy your stay.

The beaches got boring after a while here. Especially during the rainy season where trash accumulates on the shore. The good ones are remote, and Boracay's green algae is still a nuisance. I miss the cleanliness in the States and the urban vibes of Waikiki beach. It's like BGC next to a clean beach.

To me what your guest is saying as far as not being accepted their is kind of shocking. I grew up in LA and every time I visit I get treated well there in PI . They don’t think I’m a snob cuz I have a friendly attitude . Perhaps you guys are getting things wrong or mis understanding them. There are mire unfriendly attitude and discrimination here in the State. On top of it being in major decline . You guys should see how it is here now , not safe anymore and becoming unaffordable . American Dream id dying in an alarming rate

He just comes off as not very open and typical FilAm who is "mayabang". That isn't his fault 100% though but the fact he looks very Pinoy and acts as an American and cant speak the language can deter people from being open. But the openness can start with him...start by coming off as being less uptight, I guess. Level the expectation and interact with more openness.

I am financially free, several million dollars in real estate equity, paying me $220K every year post tax. I early retired age 37. Traveled the world last 9 months. I love to travel and even then it got boring. I also was in better shape when I was working because I had a better diet and more consistent gym schedule. So I decided I will go back to work even though I don't need the money.

On the friendliness and connection comment. I don't want to sound harsh, but the dude doesn't give off a friendly vibe. Just listening and seeing his demeanor. It's not very inviting. Very serious and subdued. Maybe a few months of traveling in flip flops and being away from the US will loosen him up.
@sfrealestatedealmaker6001 Жыл бұрын
Most of us Americans are that way due to the culture we grow up in unfortunately.
@facedust07 Жыл бұрын
true, americans that are in the US itself are not really friendly and inviting, nowadays alot has changed, u can feel that they're constantly competing to one another. Americans that travel around the world has very very much different demeanor and vibes than the ones that stayed in the own country. When i watched vlogs like this and see friendly americans that approach the locals and actually diving in the different culture....i see different people.

Americans mostly living in the mainland and has not live and travelled to other countries are mostly bullheaded and with harsh attitudes maybe because of the cultures and the present harsh environment like the individuality that you need to live alone without your family ,the hates, pride or still part of discriminations feeling as superior race with America being the most advance economy and military power.

Filipinos live for the moment because they believe tomorrow might not come and yesterday was already over so when they’re young like your age they want to enjoy life, get a lot of friends as they can and socialize even twice a week is good for your well being. I think even you’re in the Philippines you’re still in the rat race mentality that you have to do this to gain more wealth but your forgetting to have some fun or try even to relax for a few days that’s why you still feel isolated or lonely. The key to happiness is trying to balance work and having fun at the same time.
