I love watching Lydia and many other KZbinrs just for ideas of dress sense, makeup and home decor. But I’m never influenced to drain my bank account on expensive handbags which are not going to be used frequently and lose value too. These are unnecessary purchases and just for fashion. Remember if you follow fashion religiously then you will never be satisfied with anything. You will always be wanting for more, because this is what trends are all about. I can't afford luxury designer bags or shoes, and even when i want to purchase stuff from Zara or Massimo Dutti i'm like but do i really need it?! Cause i know next month there will be something else i'll want to buy again...its never ending circle, so now i really think twice, and three times to make sure i really want to spend my hard earned money on stuff i don't really need, but just want at that moment cause its pretty or someone else has it and now i want it too.

I am the same. I’d rather sleep on it and come back to it a few days or even weeks later. Most of the time I don’t want it anymore and then I’m glad I didn’t buy it. But if I do then I know I’ll use it well. To me it doesn’t matter if it’s an expensive or affordable item, I always look at how much I’ll use it. If we appreciate everything we have equally we produce less waste, use it (so it has a purpose) and don’t participate in this fast pace consumer world where half the things are wasted. I also try to buy basic timeless things. I have many items that I’ve had for over 10 years and still love them :)

Love love love your advice Lydia! I bought my first ever designer handbag in 2018, the YSL blogger bag in a gorgeous grey colour and embossed with croc print... I have worn the thing to death and am still so grateful that I bought it. Everyone around me thought that it was a ridiculous price for the size of the bag, but I think that it doesn't really matter... for me it's about the joy and fulfilment it brings to you and your life, which could come in the form of a bag, a car, a holiday, literally anything! I haven't bought another designer bag since as haven't had the disposable income to do so without jeopardising other areas for growth in my life, and it's taken time to actually be ok with that - I want the bags! But bags and shoes are not at all worth getting into debt for!! Amazing advice, honestly loved this video and you're so down to earth about your attitude to purchasing luxury! I understand the major jist of what you are trying to say, but it seems like you yourself are going for quantity of items. You made a point. Interesting...is there any point, at which we take responsibility for OUR own actions? 🤔 Funnily enough, I've always felt more inspired, rather than "influenced" by the people I follow. At the end of the day, it's always a recommendation from someone, and not any kind of insistent "threat" (for lack of a better word). Holding someone else accountable for the purchases WE make, seems a bit unfair, no? Plus, this video was strictly about luxury purchases, which might have been self evident, had you actually watched it. And lastly, but more importantly, why would one judge how someone else distributes THEIR income? Whether it's a frivolous purchase, or an "investment", is it not their business, and only theirs? 🤔

Great topic Lydia, the only thing I felt was missing was to discuss how you decide on 'disposable income' - emergency fund, house deposit and retirement, for example, are all essential long term financial goals and not worth a stunning luxury item now if your future is compromised. I have yet to be in a position to buy something in the luxury range. However, after watching how you now really consider what you are buying in all aspects; clothing, shoes, furnishings, home goods, I have started to really reflect on what I have been doing. I was really trying to buy trendy things. Well, that can end up being very expensive even if you are not buying luxury!! Now, I go through my wardrobe before I buy anything and see if I have either the exact same item already (which happens if in the past you carelessly buy whatever!) or is it a trendy piece that I either won't wear at all, or only wear for a season. At the end of the day, I am a t-shirt and jeans girl who one day hopes to be able to buy a nice, luxury handbag. Your views have changed me in positive ways. I am growing plants now ( I have many sproutlings!) and I worked in my yard today. Just know, I consider you a very positive influencer. WOW...I have written a book! A final note to anyone reading this: these tips and many of Lydia's other tips are not just for luxury lifestyles. You can incorporate them into ANY lifestyle in ways that you see fit or are able to! XOXO.

Dana Davis So rude. Clearly you never bothered to learn your manners or be a nice human being. Carrie is lovely but you don’t need to drag Lydia down like that.
@alongforthememories4 жыл бұрын
Dana Davis People don’t exist on the internet for you to be a bully. I hope you someday find inner peace because only miserable people in life find the need to be rude to someone else and call it “sharing their views.” Maybe you can move on someday. Xx

I discovered you via an old video shortly before quarantine started, so have definitely recently watched a lot of old content as well as the new! This video is the perfect example of why your channel is so great; I’m not a luxury person at all, and definitely have different spending priorities, but it never EVER has felt like you’re pressuring your audience to purchase things just because you enjoy them... to the point where you do videos like this with tips and warnings for those that *do* want to place their spending there 💚💚💚

This is so wonderful to hear people are still discovering me 🤍🤍🤍 I hope you enjoy the videos x

Does my house count as my 1 good purchase 🤣 if it had to be a smaller item I would say my peloton bike, I love spin and being able to have such an amazing bike in my home to be used whenever I want has been life changing!

Loved this video!! It’s easy to forget that not only do you have a passion for fashion and styling but it’s also your job, so it was nice to hear your thoughts on some the higher end bags and the thinking you do behind your purchases.

Good Afternoon Lydia! Thank you so much for this lovely advice, it’s so helpful. I just love the background you have for this video it’s elegant and we all get to enjoy your beautiful LV trunk too. It’s so inspiring to watch you creating your dream life, I’m working hard on mine! Have a wonderful day xx

Let’s see - luxury regret is a pair of mint pastel Manolo slides that I ordered on sale, but didn’t think to size up half a size. Of course they sold out instantly, so now I’m stuck with a pair that’s too small and not able to be stretched out. Luxury win was snagging a crinkle silver medium Valentino rockstud bag for 55% off. Super pleased with it!

Great advice Lyds, for people who can afford luxury items, and people who aspire to buy luxury maybe someday! I do feel 1000% what you said at the end and why you got emotional: I feel the same about the girl I was 10’years ago. Makes me emotional as well. I would have never imagined all the experiences and even beautiful things I have managed to buy for myself. I second what you said about DONT GET IN DEBT TO BUY LUXURY. It’s just not worth it. Save up and resist the instant gratification and FOMO that social media instills in us. FOMO is a real feeling, BUT it isn’t a real life situation: whatever is meant for you to have, you will have at the right time and under the right circumstances. It all seems frivolous but so many women go through this thought process and should be reminded this. My best purchase is definitely LV pochette Metis (in black and in monogram)- most used bags for sure!

That is a good point, Lydia ! Before buying something need to thing a thousand time " Do I need this, where I'm going to use, for how long and e.t ....." You may get addicted to something BUT need a wait to cool down and realize where I'm going to use it. I always wait to cool down....

I usually just watch and never comment but I wanted to say that I love love love you Lydia. Watched you for a while now and know that you worked hard to get what you have now and so proud of you because it has not always been easy. I totally appreciate you making this video and agree with your points and thank you for sharing your life with us. I still have my first luxury purchase which is a perfume $130. Will never forget where I came from and how it felt to buy something for the first time.

I generally can't afford luxury but I have ONE LV bag, it's a preloved pochette and I wore it every day for the last two years and it looks brand new. It made me realize that luxury does last and I think I will save up for something black now. I adore the Empreinte so maybe one day...? :) I have tons of buying regrets, to be honest, but I learn what is really my style by making them. Hopefully I have less and less regrets in the future :) Great video, take care!

First comment after following your videos for years. Thanks for sharing this one, it made me realized something! I have always been buying season bags and even classic bags, but after a few use I would toss them aside and look for a new fresh ones... I had been thinking about a hermes bag for many years and finally I bought my first birkin 2 months ago. It was best of the best bag ever! It matches all outfits, I carry it everyday everywhere(even to supermarkets), it's just a very timeless, very robust, exceptional quality bag that would last forever. Worth every cent, super happy with the birkin and thinking of getting a kelly for this christmas :) NO DEBT, NO REGRET!

Wow...that last bit of the video touched me. I can definitely relate to your revelation at where you are today. God Bless! I had a similar experience. I left home 10 years ago to advance my career. I was making $46, 385/year and newly divorced. :( I could only DREAM of the life I live today!!!!! Fast forward 10 years, I have a 200 sqft closet, Birkins, Kellys and LOADS of other bags. I own my own business and make $321,000/year. If I could tell myself then, the possibilities that God has in store.... What a beautiful video.

Beautiful video! I love this honest video, even though you are a influencer. Two days ago I was washing your videos and gave me motivation to make beautiful home just like yours. I have bought clothes and makeup you have recommended. It’s not cheap, but in the long run it was good investment. Especially good for the skin. I have got lots of inspiration from your home and I hope you will make more videos of this content. I love when you talking how to purchasers second hand.

I loveeee this!!! It was so useful! I believe that we should always buy something that makes us happy every time we look at it or wear! My most useful purchase was my black Givenchy Horizon (it was actually one of my first luxury bags) and I wear it alllll the time cause it just makes me happy & reminds me of my firsts! I really enjoyed this and can't wait for more of your videos!
