I'll be immensely grateful if you can answer my question coz I'm in despair, no one here in Ukraine is qualified enough to do it. I've been having hypoparathyroidism for 18 years now, every day taking 8 tablets of Calcemin Advance (4gr of calcium in total) and alfacalcidol 2mcg. And throutout this year 2023 I've acquired calcification in liver and kidneys. How should I alter my treatment now? I know there is cholecalciferol 200 IU in every tablet of Calcemin Advance. Nobody can help me recalculate the equation of cholecalciferol in relation to alfacalcidol which I take daily and which is probably the reason of calcification. Really beg you for some piece of advice 🙏🙏🙏🙏@DrJinSung

Glad you found a good doctor! My doctor has me do blood tests, but only focuses on my thyroid. After I began to check my own lab results, I discovered that my vitamin D was very low, so I began to supplement. After a few months, my level was normal again. I also suffered years of fibromyalgia pain, but am thankful that all I needed was a few supplements.

This guy is great! He explained possible inflammatory responses when supplementing with Vit D. He is one of the few doctors that ever mentions checking 1, 25 hydroxy in addition to 25 hydroxy. Wish there were a lot more practioners like him. There would be less people suffering.

This is outstanding information! I take 5000iu D3 and my recent lab result was 25-Hydroxy 55 ng/mL, but the active level was not checked. I specifically asked my dr to check my vitamin D levels, so it's disappointing that he did not order the test for active level. I am 54 year old black male with a LONG family history of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, so I want to make sure my levels are optimized. Fortunately, my labs generally look great, so I'm not overly concerned right now, but next year I will be sure to request both readings.

Sometimes the laboratory doesn't have the capability to run specialized lab work. if I'm looking for specific labs I usually go to a local diagnostic lab and have them draw my blood work (I know its out of pocket expense but I get what I want, when I want, with no doctor appointment).

My D levels have been chronically insufficient since my 30’s. I was on 2k units per day & I my level was only 23. Upped the dose to 5k along with magnesium and K2 and got it up to 49. Was taking 5k + per day during the pandemic and just got my Vitamin D test back and now it’s only 38. Confused. I have taken Vitamin D freely, sometimes even doing a 10k dose. My doctor has never suggested to test the active D levels. I may be one of the unhealthy ones but I pretty much feel fine. Good energy, decent sleep and no major symptoms. I do have some kind of digestive issues so wondering if that could be the reason for my inability to build up sufficient D levels? Otherwise I’m stumped. Regular doctors won’t do a thing to help patients be well or get well unless you have an acute illness and even then they make up excuses why and send you home. They are offended if you do research on your own and deny service if you ask for specific tests. This is a good video. Food for thought. Thank you.

Try and get some sun (must be right times of the day) and below certain latitude and during the seasons...see if that helps bring your Vit-D levels up etc

puggirl, I brought mine up to 74 from the 30s in 80 days with 10,000IUs D3 and k2 per my IFM doctor's recommendation. I get Now's Mega D3k2 with 5,000 and take two caps a day. She told me to always take my pills with an egg and a few pumpkin seeds (fat and magnesium). If your gut is not healthy you will not absorb nutrients so check for Leaky Gut., Chron's. or SIBO - even a high body fat percentage can block D, as well as steroids and statins. Sublingual supplements are good to use until your gut is healed. The doc also ordered that I get Near Infrared Sunlight before 10am and after 5pm so I took 30-60 minute strolls with the dogs twice a day. Hope it helps!!!

I've researched D3 quite a bit and what I've read it says you should take it orally if you have digestive issues, because of malabsorption where your body cannot absorb it properly and with gel supplements you can only absorb at most 30-40%. try take it sublingually and then see if things improve for you.

To treat Vit D deficiency u will be prescribed 50000 IU vit D3 or D2 for 3 months one pill weekly. Or 2 months then 10k once a week for a month If u wanna be treated just tell the doctor that u are stressed to these things, and a doc will not help till symptoms appear.

Vit D is fat vitamins same as A, E & K. they need a fat sources to be absorbed. try taking it after a heavy meals or as me, once i swallowed the capsules, i took Olive Oil as my main fat sources..

I found this lecture to be informative, but, unless I missed it, the question inherent in the title is never answered. The only sort-of answer is that, if the active D form is high, then the reason for the assumed inflammation present needs to be sussed out. But that's not a reason to stop taking D, which is immune-enhancing, only a reason to investigate what's causing the inflammation, correct? So I have to say that the title is misleading. I'll be checking out some more of your stuff to see what else you have to say. The info on testing for 1,25 OH D was new to me. Fortunately, my levels of the inactive form do rise with supplementation.

This explains why in my over 12 years experience taking vitamin D3 my serum level of D3 never got above 30ng/mL. Which is also what I had hypothesized; because my doctors never bother to tell me SH*T. More than 12 years ago, I had high liver enzymes and an elevated PSA so my doctor ordered a prostate biopsy (which I never had) and put me on 2,000iu of D3. Later, after testing, he diagnosed me with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. A very rare condition for a man to have and, he said, incurable. About a year or so later when my serum level didn’t rise I increased my D3 to 6,000iu/day. Over the next ten years my serum levels STILL did not rise above 30ng/mL. However, about 6 or 7 years after this diagnosis my liver enzyme levels did reset to normal and another test for PBC was NEGATIVE! This test was done by my new VA doctors so naturally they didn’t believe I’d ever had PBC. It was only after my prostate cancer diagnosis that I began researching vitamin D3 in earnest. By megadosing between 50,000iu and 100,000iu I was able to raise my serum level to 129ng/mL, which is considered high but not if you are fighting cancer. With cancer tumors, the higher D3, the better! As a result of this personally prescribed therapy, my follow-up MRI has revealed that one of the two small (25% and 30%), slow-growing tumors discovered in my prostate biopsy has shrunk to just 6mm and the second tumor has DISAPPEARED! We have not even begun to uncover the near-miraculous power of Hormone D3.

I went down a “rabbit hole” researching Vit D3 and learned its importance and almost all adults in the U.S. & Europe are deficient. However, he dropped the ball, just as all my doctors have, I’m not following up on my 13 year D3 deficiency of D3 AND in not EXPLAINING TO ME what was happening with my health and what I-I-I could and should be doing about it. Both to enlist my help in treating myself and for the time when he was no longer my doctor. Which happens every single day I’m this brave, new world of ours.

I wish I knew what I was doing wrong. I have been taking 5000iu d3 with 100mcg k2 but I feel worse than ever. So much inflammation and was wondering whether that vitamin d was making it worse.

@@JS-lx9fi I sympathize with your frustration. My wife persistently reminds me that medicine is NOT a science; it is an Art. And diagnostics is inspired guessing! (See 7 seasons of “House, MD”) Vitamin D3 does not cause inflammation. At all. If you’re pressing issue is inflammation you might want to go total carnivore. As far as I know, meat is perhaps the most non-inflammatory (or is that , least inflammatory) food of all. Also, according to a video by Dr. Berg, melatonin has recently been identified as a big, big anti-inflammatory you can supplement with. However, as with vitamin D3, most people do not take enough! Do you know your D3 blood serum level? You can safely take megadoses of D3 without any negative effects. Just about the only supplement less toxic than D3 is melatonin, for which there are NO known side effects. The No. 1 M. researcher in the world said he takes 180mg/night of M. and knows no M. researcher in the world , and he knows them all, who takes less than 100mg/night! I have a friend who’s physician at UCLA has had him on 50,000iu/day of D3 for over ten years and he’s in pretty much perfect health at 70. So try megadoses of D3 and see what happens. And try melatonin. Then try carnivore. Or all three at once. God’s Best to you!

Thank You. Finally somebody who understands 25 vs 1 25 forms if vit D. I have been telling my doctors to measure 1 25 for 5 years and it has been coming in elevated, 25 being always low. What do my doctors do - they tell me to take more D. I developed and was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis 3 years ago, if I took 5k oral vitamin D I would be in the hospital tomorrow. Most people with UC however benefit from supplementing with D. I will definitely read the research you posted.

I've been having terrible GI issues for the last month, or so. I have not been diagnosed with anything, yet (they are still doing tests) but I take 4000 IU of D3 every day, and have done so for several months. I might stop taking it to see if my issue goes away. Maybe I'm over dosing. I started taking 2000 IU per day because of Covid, but my brother said I should double the dose. I guess he's not a doctor, either 🙄.

These kinds of information are definitely important. Some people really believe that anything "natural" or a "supplement" can't be overdosed or that there can't be side-effects and such, but that's not true. I actually started to research everything I want to take and that includes searching for side-effects, contradictions, dosages that have been used in studies, anecdotes and such.

Drink milk and get sunshine. Drinking milk after its expiration date for up to 10 days supplies vitamin D naturally. Sunshine comes naturally. Vitamin D in capsule form if you dont have a good immune system is a waste of money. I took large amounts 5 when I got a cough and it did make the mucus thin so it was easier to get up and out.

While taking Vitamin D3 at 5,000 IU I was at 30ng, when I went up to 10,000 IU my eczema went away! I tried going back down 5,000 after months but the eczema came back so I stay at 10,000. The active form of vitamin D has not been checked and I do have thyroid disease and I do take K2 and magnesium. Thank you for the information!

Kim, you may want to add strontium and raw calcium and not take other forms of calcium (so dairy is okay, if absorbed). Also, we prefer the malate form of magnesium and be sure that your D3 is liquid and is combined with K2.

@@Golds-worthy You’re asking duration not how much daily, correct? So, I don’t recommend the capsules. Should be D3/K2 in liquid form (unless there is a bleeding issue). And it should be monitored with labs. A baseline is required. I don’t typically recommend 10k during summer, even in the northern hemisphere. In summer I typically recommend 5k. But raw calcium and strontium should be added in many cases, depends on what conditions are being treated - in addition to low D. And this is treatment.

Regarding the inflammatory response, start with a low dose for the first week and then gradually build it up. I think when you take an immediate amount of Vit D (e.g. cholecalciferol form) that can shock the system. See how that goes it might bring more success.

Too much Vit D can lead to higher levels of Calcium in your blood and this in turn can lead to problems like frequent urinating. And fatigue. Also High Blood Pressure. It can affect your Kidneys and affect your Gastrointestinal Tract. And can also make you feel short of breath. It ain’t good. I’m glad I asked my GP for a blood test recently. That blood test revealed I had high Vit D levels. For a week before I got the test done I’d feel a little short of breath in the evening. And that may’ve been because I was taking too much Vit D. Also finally ( after having to wait for two years because of a certain Virus going around) I got to go into hospital this past week to get an endoscopy and it revealed I had some polyps, which were biopsied ( I’m presently waiting for results) but it also showed I had gastritis which could be due to elevated Vit D levels. The only reason I started taking more Vit D daily was because of a certain Virus ( just in case it may’ve helped) ..... Now I’ve stopped taking the Vit D in the hopes I can get my levels back to normal soon....... So people just take care when taking Vit D........... ⚛️☮️🌏

I'm being monitored with frequent blood tests and my levels are now at 170 nmol/L instead of 293 nmol/L. Thank you for sharing, I appreciate all what you do to educate your viewers.

Did you take the cofactors to daily D3 (not D2) ? Did you take the fat soluble vitamins with healthy fat? Both K2 and D3 are fat soluble. Magnesium (not oxide form) dose needs to be split in half to improve absorption. Hope you are not supplementing calcium. Toxicity is rare. Did doctor test for Parathyroid Disease? 25(OH)D iPTH Serum calcium Often GPs have no idea what an optimal 25(OH)D is.

My 25-hydroxy vitamin D was 223 in January 2024. I was taking 5000 IU daily. I immediately stopped taking it for a while and after 2 months I started taking taking 10.000 IU every two months. In September my 25-H was down to 123. I take 10.000 once a month now and want to get down to 70-100 25 H. What I did notice with that high level, was that my skin was very itchy. That gradually went away, but is not completely gone yet. I have never been tested for the 125 H, so I will ask for that the next time. Thank you for your explanation.

I was low 25 ng/ml on my labs, so started taking D3 10,000 IU daily for a few months just fine. Until one night I woke up with my heart pounding, blood pressure high, and pulse racing. I ended up in the ER and mentioned I was taking a lot of vit D. The docs said no connection and wanted to give me anxiety medication. I don't even have an anxiety problem. I stopped taking it, but took weeks for things to stabilize, and it was very scary.I know that MANY take it with no problem but some can't. Now I have a sunlamp.

I had the same problem, the Dr proscribed 50,000 vit D 2 one’s weekly. I could take it for a while than I started to get a lot of PVC’s extra heart beats. This gives you a very uncomfortable feeling in your chest. The Dr felt it was not the vit D. However I felt it was and stopped taking it. After a few mist doses the PVC disappeared. After a while I started taking 1000 vit D 3. For osteopenia this seems to be ok.

Same for me, but my palpitations start already with 5000IU. I now take only 2500IU a day by oral spray and all this cardiovasculair misery (palipitations, arrhytmia, ladible high bloodpressure) is making its exit, thank goodness. I also went to ER two times because this caused the anxiety they liked to label me with so badly only to find out my heart itself is working fine, its just triggered by 'something' and that something they are hellbend on calling hypothyroidism. Sad for them, my TSH is also coming down so they have to come to admit it was vitamin D all along. My oral spray works fine but I am in process to buy a vitamin lamp as well as I live in the arctic and the last bits of high bloodpressure may only leave once I stop supplementing vitamin D all together which I cant with soon only 4 hours daylight with a sun that will not produce enough output to soak vitamin D from because its too low on the horizon. If it is visible at all.

Also, factor in the amount of time you are outside. Supplementing with Vit D may not be required once you come out of hibernation! My doctor moved his office when this stuff started and...never even told us. Now, he's out in the boonies in his house. We're pretty much a 'DIY' country here in Canada.

It is promoting the inflammation in order to fight off an underlying problem, not causing the problem. In order to fix the D problem (low inactive, I believe) you have to locate the infection or the autoimmune disease and fix that problem.

I combat S.A.D. Disorder with Vit D for last 10 years, felt a little better at 5k but now I take. 10k and feel remarkably better. For me treating based on my symptoms works well. I do understand the dangers however the RDA was determined via minimum to avoid clinical diseases, not what the level should be for optimal health. A normal body in the sun produces about 10k.

Delisiouslyme, darling, I'm sorry to hear. I have rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogrens, vasculitis, and heart failure, coeliac disease etc. My advise is to see a specialist, rheumatologist. I live in Australia, and my specialist tested me for vit D, you need blood tests as too much vit D (a hormone, it's unknown how hormones effect the immune system, but they do). I was misdiagnosed for decades, when it was finally picked up I was bed bound and too late (15 years ago) I am now 45. Autoimmune diseases are progressive if not caught early. All my love 💖

I read your story and I appreciate the distress you were in after taking high-dose Vitamin D but how do you know you nearly lost your life? I've read 5 books about Vitamin D and numerous articles and not one death due to Vitamin D toxicity has been recorded. It's true that Hypervitaminosis D will make a person feel terrible for months but it's never killed anybody.

@@TheSouthIsHot I had put my liver and kidneys through a lot in the past. I didn't mention that, but one way or another I believe it was the high doses of D that caused my condition. I wasn't doing much else at the time. Perhaps saying I felt like I could die would be a better way to put it. Although in my case it could have lead to kidney failure or in the least, severe damage. I'm certainly living cleaner these days but still have somewhat bad kidney discomfort if I eat wrong. Having said that, I'd highly recommend never messing around with any synthetic substances. I believe it's unnecessary. If you want D and don't get much sun, my suggestion would be to take cod liver oil. (for example) I also learned that the vit c that most of us take is make of hydrochloric acid and gmo corn. And even at that we only get the cellular wall of the so called ascorbic acid and not the rest of the vitamin. Keeping in mind it's not the pure organic vitamin just another synthetic substitute. I've learned a lot in my race to get properly healthy. It all started with distilled water and me putting myself on essentially what constituted as a renal diet (just in case)

Your recommendation of the range 2000 - 5000 IU of Vitamin D3 is similar to other sources. At present there are several commercial off the shelf products that have 2000 per tablet, with one a day recommendations on the package. At this time of year in the UK I now use two of these a day, resulting in a minimum of 4000 plus odds & ends with my diet.

Since the beginning of Covid in 2020 I gave to my 95 year old mother 3000 IE Vit D together with Vit K2 and Magnesium. She is not vaccinated and got last November Covid with very light symptoms, just weakness, tiredness, just a little cough, no fever, no pain, normal O2 blood. But her Vit D level was 178 ng/ml. Surprisingly her kidney factors (GFR, Cystadin) are now much better than for many years.What shall I do? I hesitate reducing the Vit D Supplementation...

Thanks Dr Sung. Question for you. Cholesterol is converted by sunlight into Vitamin D and we eat our food to produce the cholesterol. What happens when we eat processed foods that contain lots of seed oils and soy? Are the fats from seed oils and soy different from fats from fish and animal. I switched over to a Carnivore diet about 5 years ago, before that I would sunburn easily after that rarely had sunburns.

Things like vitamin D and magnesium help the body absorb calcium and other trace minerals not to mention a whole host of other things they affect. Vitamin K allows your body to break down cholesterol and calcium that comprises most of the blockages people have in their arteries, who knows why you burn easier I cannot answer that but vitamins are very important for the human body and vitamin D and E and A whole host of other vitamins and compounds are made with sunlight so who knows

Seed oils = omega 6 Animal fats = omega 3 The balance between them is wrong when we consume processed foods It can be as much as 20 of the 6 to 1 of the 3 in those with poor diets, Better would be something like 6 parts of omega 6 (or less) to1 part of omega 3. This is what I understand.

@@lsmith992 Yes. Gras-fed beef can have a ration of 1 to 1 (but contains small amounts only). Certain seed oil can have 70 to 1 containing almost pure Omega 6. If you make that seed oil a staple of your fat consumption, it probably makes you sick.

2000 IUs of D a day is an extremely LOW amount for a normal person. 10,000 IUs is a high number, but is more likely needed in a very obese individual. I am a small female and take 5000 IUs a day.

Actually that's not true. Obese people often have low blood levels but that's because D is not stored in the blood. It's stored in the liver and in the adipose tissue. Adipose tissue = fat.

If the Vitamin D unit is ng/mL then it is a bit higher only, just lower dose a very little bit. If the unit is nmol/L, you are still too low, and need to raise to 200 nmol/L. Knowing the unit of reference range is important, not just the number itself.

Interesting. I watched a video posted by the doctor a while ago promoting 10000 UI as a starting dose, followed by 4000 Ui a la long... I found the exact opposite effect proven by studies, both 25-OH vit D and 1,25-OH vit D lowering TNF alpha and IL-6 in high dose (so they are both anti-inflammatory).

There was a guy whose pancreas would get inflamed when taking Vit.D and it would produce more Vit.D ~this must be what the study was referring to. Berg promotes taking up to 50,000 units at the beginning and that 20,000 daily is absolutely safe. I have cleared up some psoriasis with 20,000 so it's doing good but i skip days often.

I wonder what you mean by terrible? The only time I've tried taking it I ended up with a racing heart that sent me to hospital, only calmed by IV magnesium. I have borderline osteoporosis so I'm thinking it's something about the calcium balance. Would be interested in hearing your symptoms.

@@christinecarter6836 I had a panic attack (which I am NOT prone to, it was a frightening experience), heart palpitations, my brain fog got much worse (sometimes it sounded like I was having a stroke when trying to speak... my words were badly mixed up). I couldn't remember simple things (forgot words like broom, chair, stairs, cup). Fatigue increased (would be nodding off even after drinking coffee). My bone pain got worse, particularly at night. My anxiety also increased, but that may have been because of how useless I felt at the time. My boss ended up telling me to take 2 weeks off because I just couldn't function. It was bizarre. For reference, my calcium went from 10.9 to 11.6 while on prescribed vit D (Ergo, 1.25mg, x1/week).

I could not get my Vitamin D levels up past 34 ng/mL with a daily D3+K2 supplement. I already knew I have some conditions with an inflammatory component (Hashimoto’s, MCTD, IBS) although I didn’t have the active form of Vitamin D measured. HOWEVER, I was considering it might possibly be an absorption issue, so I started taking a 👉liposomal👈 form of D3+K2 supplement. After approximately four months of taking this form my current Vitamin D serum level is 86 ng/mL. I was taking 5000 iu daily… now I’m taking 2000 iu daily. I will adjust accordingly when I get my next labs. 🎉

Sometimes taking less works better. In my case too, I lowered from 5000IU to 2500IU as oral spray. Before I switched to oral spray my bloodlevels had gone up but I still had symptoms. After switching to oral spray those symptoms went away and now even my cardiovasculair symptoms are leaving. Because the dose first was just too high for me. Especially together with vit K was a no go for me. People got to monitor their responses very well to vitamins, toxicity is so easy and can happen even if you are (thinking you are included) deficient.

One thing is for sure: There are many many differing opinions on vitamin D, from DOCTORS and RESEARCHERS, to the point I am still not sure what is truly what. I am 60 decent health, try to eat decent and get exercise of some sort every day. I am at 51 degrees north, so sun exposure is not enough (so I am told) even though I do spend considerable time outdoors. I take 2000 units a day and hope that it is enough. It is not an easy task to get a doctor, let alone get one that would test for D. Covid should have opened a lot of eyes as to how poorly we get treated, when it comes to simple steps that could make a world of difference to our health. I truly believes there were many covid deaths that would have been avoided just by having proper vitamin D levels. Let me be clear, NOT as a treatment once infected, but as an ongoing every day, life long preventative measure for EVERYONE. Not just frail old folks.

What Jin doesn't make clear is the type of test for Vitamin D. The normal blood test only checks the inactive form of Vitamin D. The active form of Vitamin D is very difficult to check as it would have to be checked ASAP after a blood sample is taken and could only be done under hospital type conditions. The true test which correctly evaluates whether the correct amount of Vitamin D is being taken up by the cells is to measure the Parathyroid Hormone levels in the blood stream. In this way you can determine the exact level of supplement level and whether any Vitamin D resistance has been overcome. Without measuring the parathyroid level even the blood test will not determine you are getting the correct Vit D levels. This is the basis of the Coimbra Protocol which is used to effect cures (actually suppression) for autoimmune diseases such as MS. The arbitrary levels of toxicity are only approx indicators and even levels of 300,400 and 500nmol/litre may not produce any toxicity if someone has "Vit D resistance". The parathyroid hormone test is the gold standard. Reply

Interesting video. My vitamin d used to be 11ng/ml with 2x 8wk course of 50,000IU pills, it barely raised to 14ng/ml. No one knew the reason. 6 mos later, I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. After cancer treatment, daily vitamin d supplements easily raised my level to ~50. Is underlying carcinogenesis process a part of the inflammatory/autoimmune/infection issues you mentioned, or did you accidentally leave it out?

When administered the equivalent of 900,000 IU of vitamin D3, even with normal supplementation of vitamin A the rats were deficient in vitamin A, and when administered the equivalent of 400,000 IU/day of vitamin A, even with a normal level of vitamin D3 supplementation, the rats were vitamin D deficient. There are several issues with this study, beginning with the extraordinarily high levels of supplementation. They also fail to mention whether this was dietary supplementation or injection, and whether the vitamins were given at the same time, or hours apart. My only take away from this is that the ratio of vitamin D3 to vitamin A should be 900 IU of vitamin D3 to 400 IU of vitamin A when taking more than the RDA of D3. The actual RDA of vitamin A is 5000 IU/day of vitamin A and 800 IU/day of D3. I take one gel cap with 5000 IU of vitamin D3 plus 100 mcg of K2-MK7 every morning with one 25,000 IU gel cap of vitamin A every Sunday night, and one extra 5000 IU D3 plus 100 mcg vitamin K2-MK7 gel cap every Sunday morning. This is 40000 IU/week of D3 versus 25,000 IU/week of A. This is much more than a 4-9 ratio of vitamin A, but when I started taking vitamin A, it didn't reduce my blood serum D test result by a single ng/ml. This would seem to indicate that at normal levels of supplementation, at least vitamin A does not suppress vitamin D utilization, and it probably works the other way. I also take a daily multivitamin with 2500 IU of vitamin A and 400 IU of vitamin D3, as well as a daily mineral supplement with 200 IU of vitamin D3. I am therefore taking 7500 IU/week of A more than the RDA, and 38,600 IU/week of vitamin D3. I would suggest that, if you are taking more than 5000 IU/day of D3, you also supplement with the RDA of vitamin A.

I was advised by my naturopath to take 10,000 iu of vitamin D a day . After 10 days I got kidney stones / pain . CT scan showed I wasn’t crazy bc I had 3 more tiny stones in me . I never passed them so I was confused initially. They just woke me up at exactly 2:30 am two consecutive nights in a row with intense pain . I thought I was having an ovarian cyst rupture at first . It turns out you can experience hypercalcemia from too much D. I also have the VDR mutation ( vitamin D receptor ) so it’s harder for my body to absorb it

Thank you for sharing your story. I was also taking 10 000 ui’s of vit D along with K-2 etc. I considered myself pretty “researched”. I sought out highest reputable companies and didn’t spare much expense. After about, I’d say a month or so, I woke up one morning and couldn’t stay standing upright. I felt very lightheaded. It worried me. I tried making breakfast for my kids (single dad) and just couldn’t do it. I knew something was very wrong. I had to keep taking very deep breaths and bending over onto the kitchen counter. Even that wasn’t good enough.. I ended up asking my 17 year old son to help me out taking care of his 5 year old sister and hit the couch. That night I went to go to bed and my kidneys were in so much pain it felt like someone was holding something very hot on each one. I was was in so much distress and discomfort it took everything in me not to call an ambulance. (no offence to this dr, he’s potentially saving lives here, but I have little trust for the medical establishment) I knew they’d put me on pills, feed me unhealthy hospital food, tap water, and potentially hook me up to some sort of machine. My mind started to race. I was that way for two nights. Right away at that moment I swore off all things synthetic. I dropped everything and for two days I drank nothing but distilled water then I began eating organic grapes and watermelon and not much else. It was a scary and difficult time. But I went from feeling like I was going to die, to slowly working my way up to nearly 100% again over a period of months. I honestly learned a valuable lesson and I thank God that He gave me more time. So nowadays I try and stick to raw, whole organic foods as much as humanly possible and try to avoid processed junk. My main go to now for my minerals, nutrients, vitamins, enzymes etc are (besides organic fruits & veggies) bee products such as bee pollen, bee propolis, royal jelly, and unpasteurized honey. Clean water. (Not distilled any longer) too much distilled water will dehydrate you and throw off your electrolytes. I eat Moringa powder. I will be growing Moringa plants soon. And I eat grass fed grass finished beef organs. (raw) or free range poultry organs. I toss them in my fruit shakes. And lastly I take a teaspoon of fermented cod liver oil daily. All that to say , I’m better now (not perfect) but continue to improve. This doctor is covering a very very important topic and will save a lot of lives by doing so in my opinion. I wish I had seen this before I did what I did. Here is an interesting talk on cod liver oil. Wonderful presentation Doctor. I want to state that when the Covid 19 started, my level of vitamin D was 15 ng/mL in early 2020. I used to take 10000IU and sun bathing with UVB rays for 30-45 min. As of today I continue sun bath plus supplement Vit D3 5000IU plus K2. As of Feb 2022 my level was 122.5 ng/mL. Is it too much? I am regularly going to the sun bath with a minimal clothing of 25% of inside my Villa wearing UV400 sun glass with a cap.

The short answer is yes. There is no evidence that any level higher than 88ng/ml is beneficial, and immune response actually decreases above 88ng/ml, to the extent that 100ng/ml is no better than 70ng/ml. Having stated this, while you should make an effort to bring your blood serum D level down to 88ng/ml or less, you shouldn't worry unless it gets to 150ng/ml. I take 5000 IU of vitamin D3 daily with my K2-MK7. I also get 400 IU/day from a multi-vitamin, plus 200 IU/day from a multi-mineral capsule. Since K2-MK7 is least expensive in the 5000 IU D3 gel caps, and the recommended daily dosage of K2 is 120 mcg, I take one extra D3 plus K2-MK7 gel cap weekly. This brings my total up to 44,200 IU/week, which maintains my blood serum D level at about 75ng/ml. My sister takes 10,000 IU/day of D3, resulting in a blood serum D level of about 50ng/ml. My doctor is concerned that my blood serum D level is too high, and wants me to cut back to 2000 IU/day, but I like my level at 75ng/ml, so I won't be cutting back.

I am 62 and have been supplementing with D3 4,000 IU for over a year, with blood level not budging above 35. I did not get the k2, though. I now have some tooth/jaw pain in different parts of my mouth, and hope that I have not de-calcified my jaw. Next stop, the dentist.

@@peachBloom K2-MK7 should actually help with your teeth. Considering how low your serum D is testing, it wouldn't hurt to go with gel caps with 5000 IU vitamin D3 plus 100 mcg K2-MK7. Indeed, taking an extra gel cap once a week should also help.

Hi doctor! I recently got a new doctor because my old doctor just wasn’t working out. He told me that vitamin D was just a trend and that he doesn’t test for deficiencies despite my aches and pains and low moods. Especially in the winter times. My new doctor did a test and I am at 27. She said she would like for me to be taking 10,000 international units daily for a month and then we will retest In about a month. Do you think that’s a reasonable amount of time to retest?

A month is too soon; more like 3-6 months is better. Hopefully, your doctor said to take cofactors to daily Vitamin D3 (not D2). Cofactors 200 mcg Vitamin K2 400 mg Magnesium (not oxide form) Remember D3 and K2 are fat soluble. Avoid processed seed oils, margarine, shortening With breakfast containing healthy fat: D3 and 1/2 of magnesium With supper containing healthy fat: K2 and 1/2 of magnesium

Any thoughts on taking calcifediol instead of cholecalciferol? I am trying D.velop which uses calcifediol. It's supposed to work faster than cholecalciferol. They did include 2 finger stick blood tests as part of their subscription, I'm waiting for results from my first test now and I'll test again a month after I started taking it.

I can say from my experience, I had low levels of Vitamin D and my doc gave me a 1 week prescription of 10,000 IU per day. I had a severe gout attack after the program that lasted for a whole month. So maybe too much Vitamin D might've promoted the inflammation response Dr. Sung is talking about.

To me it looks like there might be some confusing of ng/mL and nmol/mL in the video. Guidelines are written in either one of the two units, and there is quite a gap. 40 ng/mL is equal to 100 nmol/mL.
