They're called brokers because they "broke" anyone who deals with them. Truck brokers, timber brokers, stock brokers, they ALL get rich while the rest get BROKE!

It’s funny how he says cheap wages comes because of truck driver shortage. If there is a shortage of truck drivers, then pay should be higher not less.
@uprlvl11 сағат бұрын
Not necessarily true. By saying that there is a driver shortage, this encourages government to give Mega carriers special grants Etc to continually push drivers through CDL School and instantly be hired by all these carriers, causing a oversaturation of drivers which naturally drives the rates lower

I've been trucking since 1998 I have never seen so many trucks in my life on the road. We went to New Jersey this last weekend to visit family. Not working, just a pleasure trip. And I have never seen so many trucks on the road 40 is a nightmare. It's never been good, but it was worse than it's ever when I go to have a havasu It's just so many trucks on the road. They can't say that there's a trucker or shortage. You can't even find a place to park anymore. To sleep truck, stops are full to the brim. People are sleeping on fuel Islands.

No broker should be allowed to list any loads on loadboards(either their board or someone else’s) for less than an industry fair rate per mile. In other words, why do we see loads listed for less than $1 a mile? No trucking company can operate on those rates and maintain good service and properly pay drivers and bills for longevity at those low rates. I don’t mind brokers haggling to keep as much as the want, but they should have to pay a basic rate that actually allows carriers to operate successfully!!!

Dude being OTR many nights you can’t even find “safe” parking I see more and more individuals hopping on the road because of opportunities. Not saying they are the best for everyone depending what you haul. I’m glad they approved the money to build more driver parking I hope it helps!

The answer that so many don’t want to hear is that freight needs to move hub and spoke by local unionized drivers such as before deregulation
@therealdee92 күн бұрын
If you want to get rid of cheap freight ,let us see the rate in real time when your actual negotiating the rate not two days later .I promise you no one would run that load for 300 buck if they knew the load paid 800

This just seems like common sense to me. I think the way it's being done forces drivers to compete for loads negating standardized prices across all boards, their making money pitting carriers against each other forcing the carriers to work against their own best interest.

Why isn't more made out of the fact that the DOT exempt livestock haulers from using ELDs because they said they couldn't do their job safely using them? They are saying paper logs are safer.

We have a shortage of professional drivers! It’s easy to be a ass hole, but good driver’s know that there’s no end to do the right thing. When you don’t give a crap 💩, then you are a flea, but a ethical person knows when they are around another person who does give a crap. We all need to give a crap. Doing the right thing all the time is respect. What is going on now is out of control-

Don't have to watch it - just listen while driving. More inportant, please use the link to voice your concerns about broker transparency since you are so vocal - and please, try to act a little mature, professional and respectful. It's easy to act disrespectful, immature and unprofessional; we can all do that without effort. Every comment brings us closer to a resolution in this struggle between brokers and carriers. Bless.

@TruckingPerfected22 күн бұрын
It's not about being forced to take it. It's the fact that brokers stick together which is easy as it benefits them since it allows them to keep more of the the funds in their pockets/businesses. If one broker lowers the rate in an area, they all do forcing drivers to act out of desperation and we know, drivers don't stick together. If we reject loads in, let's say, FL, everyone will leave empty all the time. Multiply that by all areas in all states and most of us will make no money. Having one truck makes it difficult to land a direct customer and some of us tried tried to expand but do not want the headache of dealing with and depending on drivers anymore. The brokers are just crooked and thieving. The don't understand that every trucking company that goes belly-up, is one less they will have to move their freight and make them money. In essence, they keep chopping the branches to get the fruit. Many truckers can't afford to repair their trucks properly, trucks that are on the same roads as them, their families and friends. Let them keep on keeping on. Time will sort things out and I think they are the ones who will have the most regrets.

There's not a trucker shortage. What there is, is a shortage of drivers willing to put up with BS. The truckers get recruited with all this pie in the sky crap, only to realize this company is as bad as the last. It could be something as simple as maintenance, or the position and what is asked of the driver requiring more than was initially told.

What do you guys know about small carriers having to have cargo insurance on every trucks 1000$ - 1600$ each truck instead of cargo on 1 truck and the rest physical damage and liability . Would the business cargo or liability cover all trucks under authority?

How does learning the rate 48 hrs later help the trucker? Will it make carrier decide not to use that broker? Will there be a place created where the carriers will be able to share the retrieved information? How will this rule be enforced? What should carriers do when they find out the broker cheated them? Will there be somewhere they can file complaints? I think based on all i learned its a great first step but i think it hasnt really been thought through from a carrier perspective, it still seems to favor the broker. Im just a fledgling trucker in trucking school but i have been in business for over 20 years before i decided on this career path of trucking, im constantly finding myself surprised that an industry as large and diverse as trucking lacks so much in actual business administration fundamentals.
