I wanted to come here to say I tried this and that it's delicious - I did and it is! - but wanted to let you know that you shouldn't feel bad about there not being a duck pond nearby because feeding bread to ducks can actually harm them (anyone who doubts this, please Google it). I know your heart is in the right place 100%, and this is something I only found out about in the last couple years. I felt I would be remiss if I didn't talk about it.

I know this is an old comment, but replying to say this anyway: there's still things to feed ducks that harm them much less! My girlfriend and I love feeding ducks, and whenever we do we buy a big bag of rolled oats. Perfectly good for ducks to eat, and if some nearby kids wanna feed them they can take handfuls worth and we still have plenty left lol. Peas also work.

0:53 L-cystein is usually made from feathers, hog hair, and other slaughterhouse bi-products. It is a common ingredient in bread, bake mixes, and outside EU, also in flour. In products made for the EFTA market, it's in the ingredient list as E910 and E920. Within EU, food products that can be generally expected to not/traditionally do not contain animal products, must be market as containing "animal products" if they do (hence some wheat flour being marked with "contain animal products"). In the US, a product not marked as "vegan", "cosher", or "contain no animal products", are allowed to contain cysteine from random animal sources, without any warning label. As I understand it (not being an American, nor vegan/vegetarian), within the US market, bread, flour, bake mixes et c., usually contain animal sourced cysteine, and is not allowed to be exported to EU, without proper relabeling. Which is one of many similar "trade barriers", that Trump wanted removed, and used as an excuse to initiate a trade war with EU (thankfully, he seemed to have gotten distracted, and the trade war never went really serious (except for a few kinds of businessis)).

Sadly, my suspicions were correct. No gluten = no glue, and the bread just fell to pieces as soon as I dipped it into the sauce. I tried to go ahead and make some "bacon bits" but I had the heat turned up too high and they got quite burnt, which was my bad. But I could tell they would be really good if I hadn't burnt them. It would make a good topping for a salad, however I'm not sure it's worth the effort just for some bacon bits.

Since i had some of the sauce left over, I decided to saute some marinated carrot strips. Even though I turned the heat down, it still burnt very quickly. I think it's because of the maple syrup. I'm not sure how to get them crispy without burning them.

I'm not vegetarian or vegan and I enjoy meat too much to give it up, however I'm always down to try plant based alternatives. Your videos are so well crafted it really makes me want to try some of the recipes myself!

vegans be like “meat is horrible and disgusts me” and then try to make something that looks and tastes exactly like meat
@Emma-ut4mf3 жыл бұрын
Alot of us do miss the taste of meat, most of us were brought up eating it and it tastes nice. It is that it is from an animal which is disgusting it makes me feel all squeamish thinking about it, the pain of the animal it’s basically a fried carcass. Over having bread that wasn’t a being once, yet has the same nice nostalgic flavour and texture. (Sorry if I have explained this dodgy I think it’s a perspective thing.)

@@earthnelson yall soy boys dont understand the heath effects of the trash you put in your body 😂. Plus you dont even know what animal cruelty is, youre killing their environment with your daily life. So someone eating them is not any worse than giving them cancer, destroying their habitat snd polluting their air🤦♂️ keep it up though, your test levels and sperm count are 0, all while doing nothing to help animsls💀

I made this today with breakfast and put it in a low carb 50 calorie wrap with egg and salsa. It definitely gives the impression of bacon and adds a lot of flavor. I skipped the oil, nutritional yeast and mushroom powder, using 35 calorie/slice keto bread. Would be good dipped in marinara too.

Sooo good! I made this right after watching and it was amazing! I did tweak the recipe a bit making it way easier and used alot less ingredients. I went to the store and bought thick cut bacon. I then skipped the bread flatning and all the spices and just put the bacon right on my black stone griddle at a medium low heat and cooked it so it was still chewy. SUCH AN AMAZING RECIPE!

Okay now I'm curious. As a non-vegan with a vegetarian girlfriend it's always nice to find good meat substitutes so we can cook/eat together without having to make two versions of a dish. So I'm curious what I'll think of it as someone who regularly enjoys real bacon.

Don’t feed bread to ducks. It’s exstreamly low in nutrition and ex’s panda in their stomachs so that they then feel full. Oats, cooked rice, bird seed, are much much better ways to go.
