Very interesting video. As someone who enjoys eating meat I think it’s important to know the truth behind it. I’m not one of those people who talks about how bad this is while also enjoying food at restaurants and grocery stores of animals that don’t live in my state/country’s any time Not talking about the animal rights vegetarians. I’m talking to the ones who downtalk this kinda stuff but also complain that their hamburger took ten minutes

Yes, it really does make me appreciate my food so much more. If we didn't have processes like this then there we wouldn't get to enjoy a lot of things!! This goes for the vegetable that I pair with my salmon dinner as well as the rice and beverages. I thought it was interesting how they harvested roe and sperm without killing the fish. In a way, this preserves their lives much more since the chance of each egg surviving is greatly increase by human intervention. This way, they only need a few mature male and a few mature female to produce a thousand or even a million more fish! To me that seems more sustainable that catching a million fish. As an individual who was raised vegetarian for health reason and who made the conscious decision to eat meat, I agree that it's important to make informed decisions, and that you can continue to practice something with respect to the lives sacrificed. Such is life, and life is beautiful.
@Nickerian91
@Nickerian91 2 жыл бұрын
If people feel bad about this i guess it may make them feel better to know that this fish (and many other sea animals) die after spawning When the males generate a hook they are about to spawn (females aswell but no hooks) and their flesh start dying before they have laid their eggs / milk once they are done they die and get eaten by other animals. This process saves the meat for humans and make sure that all the eggs hatch instead of being eaten by other animals.

To anyone who feels empathy for the fish, due to the pain or hardship they might undergo as they become someone's meal, fret not. I would imagine being eaten tail first by a hungry bear is significantly more painful. Especially when it's salmon season for the bear and they continue pulling fish long after they've had their fill and decide to play with the fish. When people see that they think, '"silly bear lol." No one thinks of the fish the bear leaves behind, still alive, back broken, gashes down it's sides and flopping in a weak attempt to return to the water. No one gives a damn because that's what a bear is predisposed to do. If a human does far less, someone who's never killed their own dinner can become uncomfortable or flat out mad. We've managed to trick ourselves into thinking we're exempt from the food chain, we aren't. And not eating meat spares no blood from your hands. The trees that produced your coconut oil had to grown somewhere, likely what used to be a lush rainforest. Which was mowed down to make way for accommodating the fad dietary "needs" of some Karen thousands of miles away. Pain will exist in this world with or without humanity, so get hip to it. Understand where we can lessen the burden we put on the planet as a whole. I heard once, "People are looking madly for a tool with no blood on it, but there are none." No tool can be completely free of sacrifice, but we can create more ethical tools. We can buy local, eat seasonally, and grow food ourselves. It's a question of stepping down from the pedestals we erect for ourselves and comparing ourselves, not to others, but to the type of person we actually want to be.

as someone who is seeing such things.. probably for the first time Dunno, I felt bad for them. But I eat meat and all, its just that the process seems pretty rough for the fish. At least theyre killed quickly. Im sure there are many people who, like me, feel sorry for these but know and understand that thats just how things are and all. And are, like me, not up in arms trying to protest, just move on with their lives And if some people dont feel bad for them, its cool too, I mean, its not like its gonna change anything. Thats how the things are in this world but I dont like the people who are like ''its just a fish'' and who are willing to make fun of people who do feel sorry. It kinda sucks to disregard other creatures'... everything based on that its not human, dunno. Not feeling bad is one thing, but having such mindset is another, at least to me.

Actually. This is a mercy. Especially since they will face extinction do to being overfished if we don't make an effort to aid their species. This ensures that every fish has a mate, and that nearly every single egg hatches. They die after breeding in nature anyways. This is truly the best thing for them.

after reading the comments to this I have to say.... You all realize the salmon die right after laying right... Like this not only give us the meat but the eggs have far higher chances than in the wild with natural hazards and predators. This is way helpful to salmon population.

@@luvv.manuu_ Salmon Die right after laying their eggs. No human intervention needed. so they are going to die anyway. and while yes they are killing them for food they are also using the hundreds for eggs to birth more. and then they release them back into the wild. When they grow up and come back to spawn more babies. The now adults are caught and the process is repeated. So the fish are on their way to die anyway. so now they die we get meat and if done correctly more baby fish go back out. Otherwise the fish will die and rot away in the river, which is a waste to me.
