Lyonel Strong is such an underrated character. He is not as charismatic as Ned, or mysterious as Varys, but i think he is one of the few good guys, who wants to make the realm a better place.

Daemon nearly beating the messenger to death because he didn’t want Viserys’ help in taking the Stepstones and felt he’d be robbed of the honour of doing it himself is the most “little brother” thing that has ever been put on screen. 🤣 And more than that, the characterisation of him in that sequence was fantastic as it was all done without a single word; you get that he is ruthless, passionate, bold, reckless, bloodthirsty and above all determined to prove himself just from his actions alone. It’s brilliant character writing, even if he did go into that battle wearing his strongest plot armour lol, but I’m willing to let that slide.

This was the best episode so far, in my opinion. I see Daemon in a completely different light now. Pity you didn't include the scene where the White Stag approached Rhaeneyra, it was the sign that she is the true Royal heir.

Daemon took the job, not for duty's sake but to finally get the recognition that he's a man of action. The fact that Crabfeeder used the caves to negate the dragon advantage was a sore point for him. Had Viserys truly cared, he would have sent aid long ago but then to finally give it after 3 grinding years and basically reminding his little brother that you can't get it done is what culminated in him beating up the messenger. Just sheer frustration.

You probably already know this but Millie Alcock is also Aussie. I first saw her in a fantastic Tim Minchin show called "Upright". Her performance in that was incredible. I knew she was going to be a star when I watched that show and not long after I heard she'd been cast in this. Definitely worth checking out "Upright", if you get the time. A really funny, heartwarming and at times heart-wrenching Aussie drama. Also, everything Tim Minchin writes is genius.

There are three MAIN kills in this episode. the king the princess and the prince. the king needs people to hold the stag for him for him to do the kill and even then he needs a second chance because that’s not who he is he’s not a person to kill he is a more peaceful person. the princess will kill only when she has to. when you see the stag come to her in the end she tells Cole not to kill it because there’s no need. Daemon shows strength by killing he put himself in harms way and took out many of the barbarians Pirates and the crab feeder.

Daemon, while he is royalty, does not get the respect that royalty is supposed to get. He's an outcast. He's on the constant trail of proving himself to people and him smacking up the messenger and luring out the crab feeder was part of that. He was not about to let Viserys take his moment and claim victory in the Stepstones. I know people who read the books knows what happens but I don't. I'd love to see Daemon rise to the top.

For a show devoid from a lot of humor and humorous characters, HOT D is actually quite rewatchable. Usually a show with comedy adds replay value because we can quote the funny lines. I remember how hilarious Tyrion was in the first two seasons of GOT next to Bronn. Their bromance was awesome. Davos Seaworth was also quite a blast to watch. Love Davos. This show lacks many fun characters except Daemon and the occasional Otto insults and I'm ok with that. This doesn't need to be MCU. I think the funniest part in Ep 3 happened when Caraxes stepped on that dude screaming F-you to the Crabfeeder. 🤣 Oops. The 2nd funniest is when Rhaenyra insulted Lady Redwyne and you see a shot of a pug eating off her plate. Daemon can be funny but he hasn't spoken much since Ep 1. He did not say a single word in the last 10 minutes of Ep 3. Rhaenyra can be pretty savage herself with her own sarcastic insults. I think back to Lady Olenna. I don't think HOT D will ever include Mushroom. Peter Dinklage would've been perfect for him. Mushroom is supposed to tell Viserys about that rumor between Daemon and Rhaenyra. Just wait for the next episode when Daemon returns to King's Landing. Another time skip of a year. Daemon + Rhaenyra 🍒 reunited = bow chicka wow wow...

Crabfeeder and his forces were only attacking at night and hiding in caves during the day. By attacking at night, Corlys and Daemon couldn't utilize dragons to their fullest intent because of low visibility. And dragonfire can't travel through tunnels. It was essentially duck and cover used by the Crabfeeder to great effect. It became more of a battle of attrition than the stomp via dragons you'd generally predict.

Nah, not yet at least. It was a very high risk strategy that almost cost Daemon his life. He just decided he'd rather die trying to do it solo than win because of his brother. And it was high risk even after 3 years of whittling down the size of the Crabfeeder's forces, would've been even higher risk if he had attempted that same strategy earlier when their numbers were greater.
