It’s actually really great having Matt there! Sometimes I wonder if he annoys Kenan by talking so much during the videos, but a lot of time Matt tends to be the voice of the viewer, because he tends to ask a lot of questions that I am also wondering! It happens a lot actually where Kenan will be talking about something and I begin to wonder, and Matt asks the exact question I was thinking! And ofcourse I’m sure Kenan enjoys all the help Matt brings! He seems like a great friend!

Matt is the "Bones" McCoy stand-in who tries to reason with crazy Captain "Kenan" Kirk. There is no Spock in this program... No one logical exists in herpetology, even when they DO try to wear the pointy ears!

Reusing clippings is always a plus. When I used to keep box turtles, I would rake up a good pile of leaves to one side of the enclosure. The painted turtles that were their neighbors overwintered at the bottom of the pond. Ironically, back in the 1980s there were lots of books to assist keepers in providing good habitat. The pond was cement though, but the turtles and fish did not mind. Always interesting to see how animals will adapt to changing conditions. In NY, as you know, we experience all four season with all the extremes they bring. Freezing winters and sweltering summers meant the animals would often seek out shelter, I tried to keep the enclosure as natural as possible, no mowing or weeding and that was a double bonus. It provided both shelter and food. We had this set up for about five years and then the state changed the status of box turtles, so they were released where caught. Ironically, that habitat has been destroyed and replaced by a housing development. I don’t know what they did with all the turtles, but there is a parcel designated as a conservation area. The area used to be a large sand pit with scrub forest encircling, had lots of different species living there. All that left to the scrub forest in the conservation area about 1/10 of what it once was. As much as Long Island still has open spaces, many of them are disappearing. I haven’t seen a wild box turtle in quite a few years and the also threatened Tiger Salamander I’ve never seen in the wild. Used to have box turtles and several species of snakes right in the neighborhood I grew up in, but most of that habitat has been replaced by housing. Kind of sad.

Good episode. We got to see the clippings of all your yard work become the insulating material for Chinese box turtles to burrow in . Paul Matamata looks like he has become a well adjusted member of the Caiman Creek ecosystem. I remember when Marge lived in the Lower part of the creek system and one of the Caiman picked her up and tossed her in a dispute over some chicken. That could be the way she got that little perforation... and why she climbed the fence to live with Lucifer. Please give us an update on Marge... she is indeed "Iconic " !

Hey Kenan! Long time fan of your channel and just being honest.. I miss the days when it was you with the camera. I do understand the struggle with one hand, but your videos were speaking to your audience vs feeling the need to nonstop address the camera guy who I’m sure is a nice guy… but the whole dynamic has just changed from when we first subscribed. It has lowered our watch time dramatically with your channel and just wanted you to have the feedback in the nicest way possible. Huge fans and happy for all you’ve accomplished over the years at your place. ❤

Lucifer’s side of Caiman Creek is my favorite part of the Kamp, believe it or not.. because I have a lot of family who have moved down in FL, but I grew up and still live up in WI.. however I do from time to time imagine moving down there, and if I did I would absolutely set up some outdoor enclosures for reptiles! And Id absolute build myself a little pond to home my own Lucifer! I love that species of Caiman! So tiny! haha I love Marge, idk if I’d get my own Marge however, but the Mata Mata would be on my radar! I think I would also have a large group of Cherry Heads to roam free around the backyard! Where is differ from you is i’d have some chickens in the opposite corner of my property! I like my free eggs! haha

Advice change the papyrus plant, it grows like the pest with roots that can penetrate tubes and liner. There are many varieties papyrus which grow much slower. This will cut your pruning times in threefold. If you don’t get the roots of this papyrus out soon enough, it will be a nightmare to do so. It’s broading out and keeps expanding exponentially

Just recently found you and started binge watching all your videos to catch up! I'm disable so don't get out much. And at 63 on limited income it's hard to do much period. I worked with a exotic vet 20 years, did rescue 47 years before I got sick. Never seen this question ask but if anyone answer it I know it would be you.....cause if you dont know, you will find out !,.....on the alligator snapping turtle we all know it's legendary bite.Ive handled smaller ones here in Texas but no big ones. Is it like a gators where extreme pressure is in the bite, but easy to hold a mouth shut ? Does that seem to go with most herpetofauna? Loving your videos ! And all the animals ! I can't physically do animal work anymore (bad lungs, knees, hips and ptsd from childhood trauma)still have a service dog, four cats,a dove and finches. Least amount of pets I've ever had ! Live kinda in country so see lots of wildlife out my windows. Hope to buy some merch soon. Keep up the great work you do ! Sharon "Chris" Baker. When I just put Chris people think I'm a guy,,,,lol,,,but it's short for Christine. And it's what I go by.❤
