Used to practice this with a barbell and we called it "Jefferson deadlifts." Nice application with the double bells I'll have to try it out 💪

Thank you! I was struggling to remember the name and it was driving me crazy!

Is the Charles Jefferson guy also the originator of Jefferson curls?
@jimper15Ай бұрын
@@cioran1754 That was George Jefferson, dry cleaning magnate.

Hey, great video. I like the scenery, the sound quality and the knowledge presented in the video. Nice camera work too, better than the older vids. But maybe cut down on hand gestures? Bit distrating (I'm not Italian).

Awesome!! Gonna try this today itself!

Always surprising to see mention of the Highland Games out in the wild! I’m an amateur thrower and have been trying to find ways to train similar movements with kettlebells and clubs. Any other tips on this? Specifically hammer throw and braemar are the most difficult to relate to traditional training.

I’ve never seen a Jefferson DL done with a pair of KBs. I’ll have to try this.

Your words are spoken directly from the middle of my heart (...and there is a big stone with a lot of iron and other obskure things, which I want to lift...)😂

Ah, this is like Jefferson Deadlifts with a barbell. Never thought to try this with kettlebells.

Hey Mark try this one out it's a windmill but you spend a bag around your arm so it's like a 360 windmill

Good video, thanks! …was wondering, are those KBs the same weight or are they offsetting? Thanks.

Hey Mark! What kind of boots are those? Are they barefoot design? Thanks man!

Mesmerizing scenery.

I'm assuming you don't "have" to perform this with 2 KBs of the same weight, but if you were using unequal weights, would you want the heavier one at the front or back? Or would you switch? So rather than 5 one side, 5 the other, you'd do 5 one side heavier weight at front, then the other side, then with heavier weight at the back? Hell I'm just going to try it...
@MentalSelfcareАй бұрын
I will try it aswell, 18 and 24 kg is what i have to work with! Does not have 2 of equal weight
@pattressel3864Ай бұрын
What about actually doing rotation during the lift? That is, lift and turn, so the "back" hand comes to the front, and do the next rep turned the other way?

Most of us only have a single kettlebell of each weight, so will probably be doing these double kettlebell exercises with different weights. In that case, are there any extra considerations we need to take into account when the weights are different? How different can the weights safely be? My trick for counting sides for any exercises where I have to switch sides is to count one side forwards, then the other side backwards. So start, 1, 2, 3... 10, then switch sides and count 10, 9, 8, 7... It helps me keep track of which side I start on and finish.

I have two same kettlebells, then 1 smaller for warm up and 1 bigger for short burst strength-focused work. (8-12-12-16 kgs). English-speaking culture of kbs focuses on single kb, meanwhile Russian (and older Soviet) sources have a cornerstone in double clean-and-press exercise. Soviet introductory textbook by Zaycev (et al.) actually assumes you'd build the base by callisthenics and/or swimming and simpler kb exercises (like swings) and then you focus on double C&Ps and single snatches.

Yeah everywhere I see this it's called jefferson squats.
@cioran1754Ай бұрын
Looking at this a while back and many comment that it's a deadlift, or a kind of hybrid to squat, or just call it the Jefferson lift. There's competitions for it so more to be said clearly! With the hips higher, at the start, than where many squat positions pass through ( see Mark's examples ), it's more a deadlift?
