The fixed point in whatever timeline is whatever makes him become the sorcerer supreme. Because in this timeline, if Christine doesn't die then why did he gained the power to alter time in the first place. Schaffillas got too distracted with the time travel rules of the MCU when the only thing that matters is the universal concept of the Time Travel Paradox.
@donnamitsuki281

So if our MCU main timeline Strange had decided to go back so his hands don't get fucked (which was his original intent at some point,fixing his hands) he would fail and get them fucked up over and over no matter what. It's an absolute point because he NEEDS a reason to study magic in the first place.
@atleastdecent3810
@atleastdecent3810 2 жыл бұрын
you are correct in that universe Christine's death is the reason for the universe to exist, the reason the universe was made, is because a story boarder decided that an episode could be made in that premise. By trying to save Christine Doctor Strange would eliminate the purpose of the episode to exist, thus making the episode obsolete, thus destroying the universe. The writers know that doctor strange character would try to save her, but the writers still need to make the universe in which Christine dies.

This is evident when Maw says “let him have his fun” when the Hulk fights Thanos, and when Thanos grins as he’s about to stab Thor. He even outright says he’s going to enjoy destroying Earth. He has an overall end goal that seems noble but he still takes pleasure in the horrific means he has chosen to take to get there. He is still the ‘Mad Titan’.

@@kingkong9892 that’s the point of « what if », we are not in the same timeline, and the change here is clear. In our universe, the fixed point in time is strange losing his hand/career which he cared the most about, motivating him to to learn magic, he didn’t really care for Christine in comparison. THE change this episode makes is having strange care less about his career and way more about Christine, making the fixed point in time the death of Christine to make him learn magic. Saying « in our universe he doesn’t care about her so it doesn’t make sense » is completely missing the point of the show. @@timexyemerald6290 I completely agree. I mean, I understand that the origins of the strenght of many super heroes is supernatural, so it wouldn't be unrealistic to draw characters like Wonder Woman - who makes part of a magical race - with less body mass than, let's say, Batman, who is just a human and needs to be muscular in order to keep up. But if it is that so, why is Superman naturally so jacked if his powers come from the Sun? Why is Flash drawn with proeminent muscles if his powers comes from the speedforce? It is clear that there has been a pattern for superheroes when it comes to male and female looks - men are fit, older and muscular, while women are also fit, but thinner, younger and look like supermodels instead of wrestling matchers like male superheroes were originally visually conceived as, even when they are warriors who had been training and practicing exercise for centuries like Wonder Woman. See the difference between Super-Man and Super-Girl for example. Despite both having the exact same power source, one has got much more muscle mass than the other.

I haven’t seen anyone else comment this, but I’m just going to for anyone who doesn’t know. The “squid monster” who appears in episodes 1, 4, and 8, is presumably a character from the comics named Shuma-Gorath, a god who is a reoccurring antagonist for Dr. Strange and who is most likely going to be the main antagonist in Doctor Strange 2.

Seeing Dr Strange go all out and use his magic without any kind of restraint while seeing him falling deeper and deeper into his despair was so interesting. Ultron's was like watching a Dragon Ball fight but with MCU characters, seeing him eat galaxies, break through the barrier of his universe and pound the Watcher into the ground while reality shatters with every punch was incredible to see. It also has the glorious shot of Clint sacrificing himself and taking on the horde of Ultron drones head on. Also while I totally get why you don't like it, Scott Lang as a disembodied head with Dr Strange's cape cracking dad jokes was hilarious to me.

The thing with Vision kidnapping T’Chala to feed scarlet witch is a nice nod to the original Zombies comic, in that story Giant Man does the same thing for himself as the zombies are basically the same people they were when they were alive other than when they’re hungry. At one point after killing and eating Magneto Bruce remarks that he’s not even digesting the stuff they’re eating, and that eventually he’s going to explode when turning back into bruce from the Hulk. Peter bounces back and forth from tearing flesh off of people to curling up and sobbing about how he killed and ate Aunt May and Mary Jane. Very gory, interesting stuff.

Even though some characters have different characterizations (like Thanos being talked out of genocide, or being lazered in two) and there are some plot holes (when looking at events in the movies), I believe it’s kinda excused because of the fact that it’s a multiverse. Not completely, but kinda. It’s hard to explain, but I’ll use the Ultron one as an example. In order for Ultron to take over the Universe, there needs to be more than one difference; First, the avengers have to fail to stop Ultron from getting his new body and wiping out the world; Then Thanos has to do things differently AND be overly-confident. If (vision)Ultron went up against Infinity War Thanos, Thanos would win. But that wasn’t Infinity War Thanos. That was a Thanos who did things differently and was overly confident. From what I remember, it was only in Captain Carter that Watcher said that one difference created the story we saw. In order for Ultron to take over the universe, Thanos NEEDS to be in at least a different state of mind in order for Ultron to stand a chance. So, they writers took the fastest (and in my opinion, the funniest) option and made his so confident that he wasn’t at all prepared

All episodes* could really have benefitted from having a longer runtime. I felt like I was watching some of these in fast-forward mode for how ridiculously fast-paced they were, and a tad bit more of setup wouldn't hurt anybody. *Episode 4 actually does very well use of its runtime, and I don't think it should've been longer. A longer episode 1 probably would make it even more like the Captain America movie, and make the episode worse. Episode 8 could be longer, but I'm fine as well the way it already is.

Is it just me, or would anyone else have been perfectly fine if they didn't have overarching stories and did just handle it as an anthology series? I actually didn't hate the episode about Thor being an only child personally. I was with my friend watching the whole series in one go, and I liked that it didn't have the same major consequences and character deaths of the other ones, it was a change of pace. I will agree that Ultron did feel too weak in the final episode, although suggesting he would lose to an ancient Soviet AI already made him seem a bit too vulnerable. Personally I would say my least favorite episode was the one where bumblefuck manages to assassinate literally every Avenger except for Cpt. America. The mystery was solved in the most sudden way possible, and I don't even have to say what you all think about that one scene. The difference between our dr strange and evil dr stranges universe was his relationship with Christine. In the mainline mcu strange put his work before his girlfriend? Wife? And strained their relationship but in evil strange's universe he clearly cared much more for the girl. It's not meant to be perfectly streamlined and perfect because it's just that a what if. But you also have to remember that these what ifs take place in different universes that have different rules and slight differences. What we know about Thanos and our universe may be different from the Thanos and t'challa's universe where he's Star-Lord. Same is true for the Doctor strange episode 4 about breaking an absolute point that universe is slightly different

@@RealPantsMan yeah well I mean I think thats what the MCU is doing. Even loki made fun of the infinity stones. They're trying to show Thanos wasn't that big of a threat.

I overall really enjoyed the series, it had its highs and lows, but the highs were amazing (like all of Strange’s episode l) and the lows still had enjoyable parts (like Frost Giant Loki in Thor’s episode). Also, almost all the fight scenes were just amazing Best voice actors in my opinion were Michael B Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, and Benadryl Cabbagepatch

So I actually really enjoyed Captain Carter. Yeah, it did have a lot of similar beats as the first avenger, but A.) I think it works very well as a pilot for the series , B.) I think they change enough to make it interesting, C.) It's just cool to see Peggy Carter as the super solider. Also, Party Thor was a lot of fun

People are complaining that Captain Carter was too similar to Captain America, and that these versions of Thanos are too different from regular MCU Thanos. I don't get it 😂

Even though I agree, I do admit that they could've done something different with her story by not repeating TFA plot beat by beat. It doesn't change enough to make me say "Yaaayy this is a great episode" because you have to wonder what are her internal/external conflicts? What impact is she making while performing her heroism? Is there a villain besides Red Skull that could rival her and be the polar opposite of what she stands for? Shouldn't Steve had been kidnapped from an accident from Hydra to be experimented on becoming Captain Hydra? Again I love her dearly, but they dropped the ball on fleshing her character out. Sadly

It's shocking how much I agree about a lot of these points. Still looking forward to seeing more, I'd also love to see them be closer to 44 minutes in length, which I feel the shorter length didn't help the episodes get everything they needed done.
