Mary J Blige looks like the one woman at the table who's actually lived a life that brought her wisdom. Allison Janney too. The other women are still soooo young in comparison.

i read that title and it blew me away. someone who understands. i was the same way. but it is a bittersweet reality. in my mind i thought i could 'prevent' it. that if something happened it would be because of what i wore. i am blessed to say i was never violated.... but i am now old enough and wise enough to know it had nothing to do with what i wore. and for those that have been violated, it was nothing to do with what they wore. thank you mary for highlighting that reality. i love hollywood reporter for these moments. so candid.

I love me some Mary J Blige.... she was so good in this film.... the thing that annoys me are people criticizing her for her blonde hair.... newsflash shes been a blonde since she was a teenager..... she was inspired by the female rapper Pepa from Salt N Pepa who is also black and had blonde hair and various other hair colors.... every time a black person steps outside the stereotypical "black people box" we automatically have to be labeled as wanting to be white which is extremely untrue.. its annoying ....

Love you, Auntie Mary! I know exactly what you’re talking about in regard to dressing like a Tom boy. My childish mind thought dressing more masculine would stop grown ass men from harassing me. A lot of women do it without thinking. It’s our armor of protection. People who rape do it whether one is fully clothed or nearly naked. It’s such an unfortunate way to live. Sending love to all my survivors out there!! 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓

Jobe Luna HR usually gets the panel wrong in terms of eventual nominees. I predict Frances mcdormand, saoirse ronan, Sally Hawkins, Jessica chastain and maybe Meryl or Margot Robbie. Supporting Actress I predict Allison Janey, Laurie Metcalfe, Octavia Spencer, and I hope Holly Hunter and Tiffany Haddish for two very funny comedic roles. Maybe Mary J will get in.

I think Mary J Blige hit on something that a lot of women relate to: dressing like a guy to avoid sexual harassment. Let’s continue this conversation. As a child I thought dressing less like girls are supposed to dress would make me belong with guys a little more and I’d get a little more respect in the world. Little did I know at the time men will typically look down on you no matter what- only throwing you some breadcrumbs if you behave to their liking.

I love how Mary is the only one in this table who is not white and from an obviously privileged, wealthy background. I can tell it made her nervous, especially since as a musician she's just starting to (really) break into acting. But even so she wore a blonde wig/weave to fit in which really shows how powerful white supremacy is. They hardly ever have any black actors on this show and when they do she has blonde hair of course. But you can tell she has massive amounts of life experience that these other more privileged women don't have. At least they seem to respect that.

Rakhil T. Uh NO. Mary J. Blige has always worn the color blonde in different shades at the start of her career.
@M.Elle-7 жыл бұрын
Rakhil T. First of all, Blonde hair is NOT exclusive to white people. Secondly, Mary has ALWAYS worn blonde hair, even when she came out in the early 90's.
@rtmusicvideos4317 жыл бұрын
Yeah, because Mary J. Blige has always been subject to white beauty standards since she lives in America, a country founded on white supremacist ideals.
@LarryDWilmore797 жыл бұрын
Blonde hair isn’t a factor nor is skin color! Abuse in all forms and the fact it can be spoken about is the factor. Mary is changing this world by saying, “Hey! Let tell it!” Women, girls and boys of abuse can fight back by knowing they can speak unafraid and freely! Our country is pitiful and sad.
