I'm really confused as my doctor told me to cut protein, and stick to fruit and vegetables (and also to forget fasting, and exercise doesn't contribute to weight loss)

I did IF 16/8 for one year and 21 days fix diet . Eat supe well. Do Beachbody insanity training- P90X I am gaining fat this is crazy. I was slim and sexy all my life now 165 from 145. I am miss workout and good food all my life . No alcohol ect... I am so depressed now I don’t know anymore I am 49 full menopause. Help me
